The Vectair is a decent sleeping pad. I used mine for one summer before selling it to a friend. He's 250+ lbs and has been using it for the last 2 years without a single puncture or leak. One other thing to note when considering the Prolite Plus is that the Vectair top and bottom fabric is made of 75 denier material which is thicker than the 50 denier used by the Prolite Plus.

There are lots of good mats out there for everyone's needs. I use this and it's fantastic. https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6008-339/mec-vectair-insulated-sleeping-pad-unisex?colour=Fortune+Red

i have a MEC vectair (MEC is like the canadian REI) and they also have the bigger side baffles. it helps, but i’m a rotisserie chicken when i sleep and i also do the fire hydrant dog leg thing when im on my tummy so it just never fully works out

i have one and find it quite comfy. i don’t use it as much as other pads because of the weight penalty but for short trips i really like it. the outer baffles are made slightly bigger in an effort to keep your body centred on the pad in the night

I have that pad and it’s quite comfy. My only gripe with it is with winter use because it has cold spots. The process of rolling and unrolling it many times can cause the strips of Primaloft insulation to shift/pinch so that they no longer cover the vertical baffle uniformly and so the cold seeps through.

I had this exact one. It was phenomenal… for the first hour. Then I ended up on the ground. Leaked on its maiden voyage. Going back to use my old MEC Reactor 6.5. Never leaked once in 4 years.

I have the vectair. I bought it in 2020. It has gotten an insane amount of use, and straight- up abuse. Lots of backcountry camping, and I preferred it to the big rubber air mattress we used for car camping. When we were moving our son from his crib to a toddler bed in his own room, it got literal months of nightly use as we took turns sleeping on it beside his bed. It stayed inflated for that entire time. Once we didn’t need to be there every night, we kept it inflated in his room just in case we had to move there during the night. I’ve slept on it while breastfeeding, co sleeping with my kids. I slept on it while pregnant with my second. It was comfortable even in the beginning of my third trimester, when even daily living of life is horribly uncomfortable. I was still getting a decent night of sleep, I’ve used it on shoulder season camping trips when the temps have gone below zero, and been toasty warm to the point of being to unzip my sleeping bag. I’ve taken it canoe camping and backpacking, and I travel light when I’m backpacking (I use a 22L bag - pad and sleeping bag go in their own dry bag and get strapped to the outside.) Even though it’s bulky and heavier than what I had before, it’s worth the extra bulk. I had one pinhole leak during the sleeping on the floor period. It was easy to fix. I suspect it was cat claw damage. The only issue I’ve had? A tiny bit of insulation sometimes pokes out into the valve, preventing it from creating a seal, so the pad slowly leaks. As soon as I figured out why that was happening, and started making sure the valve was totally clear, it hasn’t happened again. I have since moved to a double mec reactor pad for car camping, which is almost as comfortable as a real bed. My vectair is still my favourite for backcountry. If I have my partner or extra kids with me (nieces) while car camping, and we don’t have enough space on the double pad (fits two adults and the smallest kid, or fits one adult and two kids of any size,) the kids get the vectair. It’s stood up to camping with a large dog that is convinced she belongs on the bed, and to young children who have trouble remembering not to run and jump and stomp inside the tent/on top of the air mattress. I once caught my son and niece doing belly flops onto it. It did not break or start to leak. I highly recommend.

Bought two of these for my kid and his girlfriend to use when they come back country camping with us. Good quality and seem fairly warm (have only used in the summer months but mountain camping so we have had overnight temps down to freezing). My son is 6’2” and 200 Lbs and has good sleeps on it. They are kind of heavy though compared to our Thermarest pads, but it’s not a deal breaker.

Have this pad. Iam 225. Slept on it 35 days last year. Highly recommend, great value. If you are a gram counter maybe there are some better options but the price/quality/comfort cross section is incredible.

I'm assuming we are talking car camping? For years my wife and I used a double air mattress from Walmart with no problems. If you really don't want an air mattress I would ask, do you need to share a bed when camping? Why not two air pads or two cots? For air pads, I love my MEC Vectair insulated wide and long. They go on sale every once in a while.

I love my MEC Vectair insulated and it's on sale right now. I have the wide/long version but I'm 6'2. [https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6008-339/mec-vectair-insulated-sleeping-pad-unisex](https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6008-339/mec-vectair-insulated-sleeping-pad-unisex)

I've had it for at least a decade and have many nights on it. My friends say it's noisy but it's never bothered me as I sleep with ear plugs on. I do roll around a lot in my sleep.

I have the vectair too and it's nice. My first sleeping pad so I have nothing to compare to but I will say, when it's inflated well, I can't sleep with my arm under the pillow as I usually do because my arm will go numb. Not sure if it's this sleeping mat or all of them that are like that. Also I'm a fair bit shorter than the dude above but I also got the long and wide and it's nice to be able to spread out on it.

The MEC VectAir is pretty good value. Not the lightest but good enough for backpacking if you’re looking for a less expensive option.
