The Vectair is a decent sleeping pad. I used mine for one summer before selling it to a friend. He's 250+ lbs and has been using it for the last 2 years without a single puncture or leak. One other thing to note when considering the Prolite Plus is that the Vectair top and bottom fabric is made of 75 denier material which is thicker than the 50 denier used by the Prolite Plus.
There are lots of good mats out there for everyone's needs. I use this and it's fantastic. https://www.mec.ca/en/product/6008-339/mec-vectair-insulated-sleeping-pad-unisex?colour=Fortune+Red
i have a MEC vectair (MEC is like the canadian REI) and they also have the bigger side baffles. it helps, but i’m a rotisserie chicken when i sleep and i also do the fire hydrant dog leg thing when im on my tummy so it just never fully works out
i have one and find it quite comfy. i don’t use it as much as other pads because of the weight penalty but for short trips i really like it. the outer baffles are made slightly bigger in an effort to keep your body centred on the pad in the night
I have that pad and it’s quite comfy. My only gripe with it is with winter use because it has cold spots. The process of rolling and unrolling it many times can cause the strips of Primaloft insulation to shift/pinch so that they no longer cover the vertical baffle uniformly and so the cold seeps through.
I had this exact one. It was phenomenal… for the first hour. Then I ended up on the ground. Leaked on its maiden voyage. Going back to use my old MEC Reactor 6.5. Never leaked once in 4 years.
The MEC VectAir is pretty good value. Not the lightest but good enough for backpacking if you’re looking for a less expensive option.
