I’ve had a great experience so far with my Aqara G400. Some folks seem to have trouble with it but they generally use it powered by batteries. I’ve got it hooked up to the mains and it’s been rock solid for me.

Same. I made my Reolink doorbell HKSV compatible via Scrypted, but the Reolink randomly croaked this week. Decided to try the G410 cause of native HKSV, but now the G400 seems like a more reliable option, even though it's a lower model? Who the heck makes a doorbell that's not fully weather resistant? I want an HKSV doorbell that works with my existing doorbell wiring that is reliable. That's it. Maybe Apple will make one eventually.

Now you’ve mentioned it, I’m seeing the same thing. Recordings on HKSV are crisp and so is the live view through Aqara but the live view through the Home app is worse.

[https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/all-cloud-gateways/products/udr7](https://store.ui.com/us/en/category/all-cloud-gateways/products/udr7) plus [https://c3aero.com/products/ubiquiti-unifi-protect-g4-doorbell-pro-uvc-g4-doorbell-pro](https://c3aero.com/products/ubiquiti-unifi-protect-g4-doorbell-pro-uvc-g4-doorbell-pro) Probably the cheapest entrance in to getting a doorbell + appliance to run Protect. But honestly, will be the most expensive in the long run because it's like Pringles. Once you pop... It's honestly a bit of a problem at this point. THAT SAID: [https://www.amazon.com/Aqara-Doorbell-Wireless-Supports-Assistant/dp/B0F6CJF9M9](https://www.amazon.com/Aqara-Doorbell-Wireless-Supports-Assistant/dp/B0F6CJF9M9) < I've been overall very happy with Aqara products so far, and $120 gets you a doorbell with camera that operates with most smart home setups.

Are you still having issues with the live feed dropping in the home app? I was having that issue as well but it appears to be isolated to my iPhone only. iPad and viewing from Apple TV is fine. No drops. I have a 17 pro with that new n1 WiFi chip. I ended up toggling off WiFi 6e mode on my phone and I was able to keep a live stream going for 6 minutes before I closed it. No drops.

The WiFi 6e toggle is on your iPhone under the WiFi settings, click the little blue I on your ssid to dive further. It’s in there. No the quality is still bad on the iPhone. iPad and Apple TV look as good as the Aqara app. I suspect it could be because the iPhone home app is different from the others. Not sure it’s definitely a weird bug!

It says it has rtsp streams so you could record directly to an NVR. I’m just hoping it supports onvif so I can add it to Unifi Protect

I’ll certainly do that and post the differences here once I get a moment. As for my preferences, I was happy with the G4, an even more happy with the G410, but I really don’t need another hub or Thread Border Router in my setup if I’m honest, so I’d probably say the G400 is the right one for anyone with more than enough hubs.

I can say I’ve noticed the motion sensor get stuck on my unit. As it’s a pixel-based sensor, any changes to the pixel image could make it constantly re-trigger the sensor though. Does a reboot make any difference?

It's disappointing that certain AI features will be blocked behind a paywall. I'm looking forward to trying this doorbell and comparing it to my ecobee. It seems to offer many more HomeKit features than the ecobee but judging by your review it would seem that package detection, animal detection and possibly facial recognition are behind a subscription paywall. I'd much rather pay a little more for the hardware upfront than be forced to pay a monthly subscription for a feature that is already part of the Apple HomeKit experience. Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow and I'll have a chance to judge it for myself. The big question is, how hot does it get when in use? Will it overheat in on a hot summer day in the afternoon sun? I'm looking forward to seeing if the rumors about an Apple branded doorbell turn out to be true. If so I'll most likely buy the Apple. At this price point it's worth giving it a try. I can always return it if it proves to be inferior to my ecobee.
