Doorbell Camera Hub G410

Aqara G410 is the newer Aqara option and it seems to be an improvement over the G4. I settled on the Aqara as it has a newer system, fewer issues than the Logitech and direct HKSV without any adders like Ubiquiti requiring Scrypted (another subscription). Previously we had RING and used Scrypted for HKSV. I tried the Logitech briefly but had some issues with the sync so sent it back and kept the Aqara. We have a huge bay window at the front and a glass entry door, but are frequently outback at the other end of the property or on elsewhere in the home with the TV on. The HKSV was a great feature to have on any smart home device for exactly the reasons you mentioned - packages, pizza delivery, etc. Aqara’s doorbells also work with their locks very well I’ve noticed for a quick automation (if HKSV recognizes a Home residents face, unlock the door and turn on the entry lights. If the Ubiquiti Lite supported HKSV natively my wife would have me move the G410 to our side entry as the Ubiuiti lite looks way more natural as a doorbell.

Aqara only has 2 doorbells and 2 door sensors. Doorbells are g4 and g410. G410 is newer, the camera is a little bit nicer than the g4, and it uses a different(significantly more accurate/sensitive) type of sensor for motion detection. It can also act as a hub in case you want to get more stuff in the future. Door sensors also have the "original" and p2. There's no real performance difference i believe, but p2 uses the newer matter over thread communication protocol and can be added to HomeKit directly

I had two Logitechs, bought in 2022. One died in 2023 and Logitech sent me a replacement that was refurbished. This year both Logitech units started to have the glass face delaminate and both units overheated to the point where they would not come back online. Even when the Logitech units were working, they were slow to load video and late to notify on motion events and doorbell presses. I have no experience with the Wemo product but I cannot recommend the Logitech units. I replaced the Logitech units with the Aqara G410 doorbell and the Aqara has been great.

I'm always going to recommend ditching the Logitech. I had horrible experiences with the ones I had including performance (slow loading, streaming, and missed motion events) and then the hardware overheating and dying. It also looks like Logitech has mostly abandoned these. When I looked last new ones weren't available, just refurbs. I went with the Aqara G410 doorbells and while they're larger and have a separate chime box it doesn't matter to me since my HomePods are my chimes. The landscape view on the camera is actually nicer for me as it captures my entire yard area. I think a downward angled mount might even make it better just to possibly capture more of my porch. Aside from those couple things, I haven't had any issues with speed, streaming, or performance in general. I'm much happier with the Aqara than I was with the Logitech units.

I just bought the G410 (twice) last week. Honestly the only feature I cared about was it being HKSV compatible. The mmWave sensor instead of a PIR sensor for motion seems like a worthwhile inclusion but I don’t know if it actually matters. The doorbell does record motion pretty much anywhere in its FOV, and that is a super wide FOV. I didn’t know it was a Thread Border Router when I got it but extending my Thread mesh is a nice addition too. I’m not using any of the Aqara features so I can’t comment on those. All that said, when it came down to choosing I didn’t have any experience with the G4 and just said “might as well get the new one”.

Everytime the Logitech doorbells come up lots of people say that they have no problems with theirs. I had two of them and had problems with them until they died this year. I replaced them with the Aqara G410 doorbells and couldn't be happier. I have the 4 of the Aqara G3 cameras in my house and they've been rock solid. I've been considering a fourth one to replace an old Wyze cam that I have set up/installed but don't use. As far as outdoor cameras I have the Eufy cameras with the Home Base 2 and they go through periods where they work great and periods where they're laggy but it's nice that they have a battery and can be charged with a solar panel. For lack of a better option, they're not bad but I've often considered punching a hole in the walls and running a long USB-C cable to power one of the Aqara outdoor cameras, like the G100 to replace them to see if having a mains powered camera is a better option.

My doorbells didn't look that bad after 3 years but the heat did kill them. One died just outside of warranty, and Logitech sent me a refurb. That refurb and the other OG died early this year. I replaced them with Aqara G410 doorbells and I've been happy with them. They've been working really well for me.

I really didn’t like mine. It was unreliable at actually recording people in my doorway. I was running it on battery only (no doorbell wire) and it was just not working for me. I was also not a fan of the indoor unit. It required an outlet relatively close to my door (concrete construction) and was just unsightly no matter where I put it. I eventually installed Ethernet and bought a unifi doorbell lite which is 100x better for me

Same. I made my Reolink doorbell HKSV compatible via Scrypted, but the Reolink randomly croaked this week. Decided to try the G410 cause of native HKSV, but now the G400 seems like a more reliable option, even though it's a lower model? Who the heck makes a doorbell that's not fully weather resistant? I want an HKSV doorbell that works with my existing doorbell wiring that is reliable. That's it. Maybe Apple will make one eventually.

I've had mine a week. Noticed it skipping frames and being overall slow a few times already. A restart fixes it for a bit. Signal is very good and the receiver is a few feet away from the doorbell. The Wi-Fi AP is a few few away from both too. I am powering it with a 24V DC 2A power supply and also have the batteries in. I am not impressed with it so far. I had a Reolink Doorbell for a year before it stopped working a week or two ago. Was running it through Scrypted for HKSV compatibility. A bit janky but it mostly worked. Was hoping the Aqara G410 would reduce the janky setup but seems it's less reliable.

My Nest doorbell started cracking and shedding its top layer after about two years. This is ridiculous though. I had a Reolink doorbell die on me due to its own heat, but otherwise looked fine other than some grime. They thankfully replaced it under warranty. I briefly tried an Aqara G410 after the Reolink died. I found out that the Aqara is not really waterproof, which is WTF for a doorbell. Though what really made me return it is the laggy and unstable firmware. Seems all doorbells being sold have one issue or another.

I think it depends on what you are looking for, for me POE wiring is not possible due to wiring issues thus I was stuck using wifi for both models. Also for the image ratio wise I would prefer to have a horizontal view than a vertical view for my corridor shape. (Can view my post to see the difference) Image quality wise I prefer G410 as it seems sharper than the G400 (not sure if it changed through firmware updates) For the red light I prefer G410 as it only lights up when it detects someone on the mm wave sensor. Also based on the waterproofing wise mine is sheltered thus using both models didn’t matter.
