Interesting, is it powered from the mains or battery? I have the G4 that’s plugged in and it’s flawless for me

r/AqaraDoorbell Comparison - G410 vs G400. Can anyone fill in the blanks and/or add more info?

Forgot to add RTSP support and Home Assistant integration which is the main reason (other than the white color) that I was looking to upgrade my two G4s. No mention if in the G400 but I expect that to be there but not mmWave or the Zigbee/Matter hub

Is the Level Matter over Thread lock available in the UK, or do you even have that type of deadbolt? Discreet from the outside, and also HomeKey. They work great with the Matter/Thread update. I also have an Aqara U100 and it’s been great, but if you’re looking at the U200 or U300, you should go over to r/Aqara and see some of the posts. I’ve had a horrible time with the G4, but I think it’s that I’m trying to go wireless in a brick house. If you’re going to bridge the Ring, you might as well bridge a Reolink security system.

I'm with you, hardwired to a transformer and I've really liked it (only had it for three weeks). It's worked great. I thought about the Ecobee camera but when I saw it had a subscription, I decided to pass (even though I really love my Ecobee Premium thermostat).

I just got my Aqara G4 hooked up and am really liking it so far. As you said the SD card is in the chime, so I thought that was a nice touch.

I just changed the batteries out on mine, been in for 2 months with pretty regular use. No issues at all

I went down this path last year and ended up with the Aqara G4. I have batteries in it and it’s wired so I don’t fear it’ll ever really die. I also like the feature of having the chime where I want it instead of using the previous door bell chime. I also wanted their smart door lock, so was already going into the Aqara ecosystem and they have both been great for my very basic smart home set up. Will add their indoor security camera later this year.

Just one more tally mark for my Aqara G4. Once I got over its looks and size, I’ve got nothing negative to say about it. In fact, one negative (two pieces) went from a negative to a positive once I understood the rationale and saw it not fail under intense summer heat.

I have no complaints about my Aqara G4. I wired it to my existing doorbell wiring so I don't have any battery issues.

Aqara G4 baby. I have had one for a couple years. Works fantastic.

r/HomeKitWhich doorbell and outdoor cam do y’all recommend in 2025? Does unifi work with homebridge?

I’ve been very happy with Aqara. I have four G5 POE, two G4 doorbells and a G3 inside. All have worked pretty much perfect. That said, unifi is superior if you can float it.

I’ve got two G4s and really like them. Pop ups on the TV when they detect motion, “free” cloud storage. I’ve got seven Aqara cameras all together and they work great.

POE is a massive massive deal. I have only had my G4's a few months and would absolutely upgrade to POE almost instantly. There simply aren't any POE HomeKit doorbells outside of one massively overpriced option. IMHO this is the #1 overlooked product right now. These things would sell like crazy. Love my G5 POE and is any other vendor had a reasonably priced POE doorbell I couldn't have an Aqara one right now.

Reliability is by far the #1. First the others eat batteries like candy so that it's gone. Video over wifi is laggy and not as reliable. Yes, my G4 work generally well but not near as responsive as my POE G5's. Many many complaints you see for wifi cameras are do to subpar wifi networks and not the cameras. Getting video off your wifi also frees it up for other uses. Similar to why zigbee and thread over highly recommended over wifi for other smart home devices. And while I think it's overplayed for the majority of users there is security. Wifi cams can be hacked. If you can wife a camera absolutely do so. Wifi is simply for convenience and understandably so as wiring a doorbell camera is not an easy task for most people but absolutely worth it if you can.

If you can do it yourself absolutely. I’ve had my G4s for less than three months and I’ll replace them with a POE version immediately. Not looking forward to getting back in the crawl space but will absolutely do it.

My house came with ecobee so I have that but don’t really use anything smart with it. Temp just sits in the dashboard. I use Abode for my security system. I’m a huge fan of Aqara. I have four G5 POE cameras, one G3 camera, two G4 doorbells, three U50 deadbolts and their lever lock but can’t recall the model number. A couple temp/humidity sensors to round it off. It all works extremely well.

I came from a very similar situation. I had a complete Ring setup with security system, a ton of ring cameras (three doorbells, two flood lights, two spot lights and two indoor cameras). We left the system when we sold the house. New place I decided I wanted to go with HomeKit as we are a complete Apple house. I did go with Abode for the security side. Does that price include the first year of monitoring? If not, yeah, the price is insane. I pieced together a Smart system on Amazon for $105. I added two motion sensors and four door sensors for a total of a bit over $200. But that didn't include monitoring which was $240 for a year. I then went with Aqara for the rest of the system. I have four G5 Pro POE cameras, two G4 doorbells, three U50 deadbolts, one G3 indoor camera, one U300, four water sensors and two temp sensors. So far everything is working fantastic with zero complaints. I have seen a few complaints on the U200 so I would look into those a little more before buying. I don't have any experience with the U300 yet as the building it was bought for hasn't been delivered yet. I like the fact that all the cameras also function as hubs so that side of the network is solid. I havent ventured into other vendors yet but likely will with some wall switches and try a cheaper vendor to see how that works with Matter. So far I have achieved my goal of multiple products under one app. I have multiple on my phone but my family only has the Apple Home App and accesses everything from there. It does not have the power of Home Assistant and has its limitations but it works. Very similar to iOS vs Android. If it covers the needs you have it works extremely well. One important thing that cannot be overlooked is your wifi network. If you have a single family home that isn't in a dense area you don't have to be fancy. I have a roughly 1500 square foot single story home with vinyl siding and simple sheetrock walls. I have an Eero 6 and it works great. Currently just using one but will use one of the extenders in my man cave when it arrives. If you have the money and don't mind more complexity Ubiquiti is the gold standard in cameras and networking but you will pay for it. There cameras and door bells are top notch as is there networking equipment. I do have experience with their networking but not the cameras. I considered it but could not justify the cost. I use a simple TP-link POE switch for my cameras and hard wired gear. So far I have had zero issues with the network and don't anticipate any. I have used this same Eero system in my last brick house that was 2400 square, albeit with both extenders in use, with also zero issues. edit The one thing I could not find was a good HomeKit smoke detector. There is the Owl but so fare has pretty mixed reviews. I ended up just using the Abode smoke detector listener.

r/HomeKitAqara G4 vs G410 — Which should I get as a first-time buyer?

I love my G4's, get the 410. It's rare it's better to buy older tech. Even when newer tech has teething issues in the longer run the newer tech is the way to go. Get the 410.

I can wholly recommend Aqara. I’ve got four G5 POE, two G4 and one G3. They work fantastic. I do not believe you can hardwire the G5 like the Eve into existing wiring. You could turn the existing wiring into an outlet easily enough.
