Ecobee shows up on my Appletv, and I can view live HomeKit, but no secure video storage. Might swap out for Eufy, my other eufy cams have been pretty solid

I picked an Ecobee and I’ve been pretty happy so far. Haven’t tested it with my ATV yet but HK pairing was quick and easy and it pops up like any other camera. In fact it has the fastest click-to-view response of all my cameras.

I know it doesnt have HKSV but i got it because of how it deals with detection range using radar. My front door faces a side walk about 25 feet away and the homekit camera I had pointing to my front step was constantly go off when people walk by. If Homekit activity zones actually worked (eufy) I might have considered one of the homekit doorbells with HKSV. So as it stands I have homekit notifications for movement/people detection disabled on my phone for this doorbell and just have it alerting me to button pushes via the apple tv and homepods and am using the ecobee app on my phone for seeing whose there. Biggest complaint is that it needs a subscription for the radar to work. I knew I would need to pay for video storage, but didnt realize they paywalled this feature. I wish apple would step up their camera features in homekit. Edit Looks like radar isn’t paywalled. That’s some good news.

Just passed through button presses and live video feeds. I have it set up to show on the Apple TV but manage the camera via ecobee app.

Can you move the slider without a subscription? I’m still on the trial so I’m not 100% on what’s included etc. the description made it sound like the radar was paywalled

I like my Ecobee, but I wish it had more integration into HomeKit. You get the camera and can use the intercom, and it rings through to the HomePod and Apple TVs if they are on, but that’s really it. Hardware is top notch and the camera has a great view and resolution. The camera is leagues better than my Blink wired floodlight. I can’t even get that one to work through home bridge to just give me a camera view in HomeKit. Amazon has their video services locked down. It’s good enough to guard the pool and the light is bright.

Just switched to EcoBee from Aqara. Loved the Aqara minus 2 things: Didn’t work when it was super cold cause the batteries kept freezing, even though it was hardwired. 2: lack of portrait view. Have to pay for video recording on ecobee which sucks but the camera is better already.

Stay far away from Belkin WeMo. It’s horrible. It constantly goes off-line requiring that you remove the doorbell and press a reset button on the back of it. I can’t remember the last time that Belkin actually sent out a firmware update. I switched over to an ecobee doorbell. Aside from the fact that it does not support HomeKit secure video. I love it. It’s a solid option.

I had the WeMo. Same issues you described. I’ve switched to ecobee doorbell and love it. Better video quality and it never goes offline. It does not support HomeKit secure video but you will get everything else. I get a pop up picture on my TV screen when someone rings the doorbell I also get notifications on my phone and can chat with the person. HomeKit will give me a snapshot of various events throughout the day. It just won’t record the video. I get all the other options though. To get around the video problem I installed a logitech Circle view camera just above my door.

I have the ecobee. Package detection is the only option behind a paywall. Am I missing something? https://preview.redd.it/sjd3ufg7n5ad1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=33f6c48bfc94e2c050856f3f0aa76f4fbba0616c

I’ve had mine since September of 2023. It’s now August of 2024 and the internal speaker of mine has failed. It’s covered by a 3 year warranty and I’m getting a replacement. I hope this isn’t indicative of poor quality.

I also bought one for my first home! I actually went all in on Ecobee for thermostat and security, so I’ll be subscribing to their monitoring service. Waiting to install it as I’m remodeling, but I will soon. HomeKit aside, it’s widely reviewed as one of the best video doorbells. Once I realized that the only thing it’s missing is HKSV (but you can still view the feed in the Home app from what I understand), I was fine with that trade off and clicked buy.

Yes. Works fine. Bit of a power hog so make sure your transformer is up to the task. [Here's my write up on it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ecobee/comments/17cai6n/comment/k8873hy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

For what it’s worth, I really like my ecobee doorbell, but I also have their thermostat, which acts as the hub for all their other devices

I have an ecobee doorbell and just don’t opt in to the subscription portion. I have the ecobee thermostats and it ties in with them and I personally like that feature.

I had a Logitech Circle View installed for about 18 months. The motion detection and video quality was great and I really liked the full integration with the Home app. Unfortunately I had ongoing issues with daily overheating for months on end and a really puzzling pattern where the doorbell would alternate between online for about 120 minutes and then offline for about 120 minutes - sometimes for 24 hours or more. The final straw was that about 12 months of exposure to the sun, the faceplate started to develop clouding and discoloration. I've since replaced it with an Ecobee Smart Doorbell which has been a step down that I can't recommend either.

Don’t know if you got one or not, my has been absolute garbage. I have the correct transformer and had to install a wired access point within ten feet to keep it connected on WiFi. My biggest issue is that when someone rings your doorbell, if you try to look at the feed to see who is there, you have to wait for twenty seconds for it to connect as it routes the video feed from the device through their servers then to your phone. When it is recording the interaction, their side of the video handling is not up to the task, so you get a very shitty video feed ten seconds late. Hard pass on ecobee, their products have been enshitified since generac bought them.
