Coming from the T8210 Doorbell, we decided to purchase a new doorbell after our T8210 went into a infinite loop after almost 4 years in use. That particular doorbell was a workhorse after facing numerous typhoons/moonsons and record shattering heatwaves, which is a bummer that it went down with more of a software issue rather than hardware. We couldn't find decent reviews with Eufy's new doorbell the c30 and c31, the details about those doorbell are iffy at best. We decided to get the c30 because in our experience, the battery powered cameras of eufy tend to go down after 3 to 4 years which we experienced with our cam 2 pros and the previous doorbell, and we decided to get the cheaper one because I'm expecting to replace it anyway after 3 or 4 years when the battery will most likely fail. In terms of the c30, it is really similar to the T8210 based after 3 days of use, the night vision is way better than the old model while there is more contrast with its video stream. Interestingly, you can use a microsd for a local storage but It can be connected to your Homebase 3 and using it as a storage without the need of inserting a microsd. According to eufy, the c30 and c31 can only use the minibase chime, Alexa and the homebase as an indoor chime, so I was surprised when I tried connecting the old doorbell chime from the 8210 and it somehow still working with the homebase 3 and this doorbell. Cross-tracking works with this camera, and AI as well when connected to HB3 Overall, it is a cheaper version of the t8210 with slightly better specs. My only rant is they really skimp down with the push pin (see pic 2: t8210 pin vs c30) 😅

I connected mine to HB3, so far, in the short time that I have been using it, it hasn't missed a "human" detection. (I have 2 e330 monitoring the same street). AI seems to be good and accurate. Please take note though, this one is connected to my HB3, I haven't tested it as it's own because I don't want to spend money for a micro SD. I only had the T8210 (almost 4 years) so I can't really compare it to a e340 but in terms of notifications, it is relatively the same. The biggest difference I have seen is the video quality, this unit has higher contrast but lower brightness. Check pic 1 and 2.. the night vision of this model seems to be crisper and less noisy. (See pic 3 ). This particular unit has a very wide range compared to my old camera.

I can say that the movement *sometimes* fails with me also specially with my doorbell, but I've been happy with Eufy overall. However I wanted to upgrade my doorbell and I don't want the E340. I wanted something 2025 but .. there's nothing. You gave me hope and took it away. 😅 https://preview.redd.it/54o9h0y17vre1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f8ee7bde115b11c39a2626f8c479b7a44ea6ffb

\+1 for the Eufy, I've had mine for years and it's never failed me. The ONLY issue I've had with it is since updating the home base it gets announced as "Someone pressed the A750294BNH063490" for some reason instead of saying "front door" :-)

Google would be a better choice IMO, I just sold my Google doorbell for the newest Eufy model and I semi regret it. Google you just place outside and the thing is amazing, the AI is great and I've never had any issues. The eufy... Omg the lighting has to be right or the sensitivity has to be right otherwise it'll miss picking people up and it takes a damn near 2 minutes before it realizes there is a package and then another 2 minutes to tell you it's gone. Although on the contrary when it does work good it works good but there is just to many variables you gotta play around with when Google you just set it and forget it. Just my 2 cents

(UK) I have a Eufy battery powered doorbell cam. My door is on the floor below the main living area of my flat. The building is made of reinforced concrete with rebar and the door has metal eight point locking built into it and the bell never loses a wifi signal. I have the Homebase three and a seperate chime in my kitchen. I always hear the bell and so does the courier, so they know it works. A quick check shows you can turn off the bell sound. Couriers here like to do a teeny tiny knock and then leave. One courier waited four seconds before leaving. It is physically impossible for anyone to get to the door in these flats in four seconds. I have fitted a wire basket of the type used on the backs of electric wheelchairs to my door (this is partially shielded by a downpipe so it doesn't protude where anyone would walk) The Royal Mail deliverer puts parcels into the basket but never rings the bell. The downward facing camera watches the parcel and I have a warning notice that the spot is being recorded in the basket to deter thieves. This set up is working great. I did buy a second battery pack and have snapped off one unlocking key by pulling down on it, but with no lasting damage. I am very happy with Eufy but wish it would work with Smart Things.

The parcel alert isn't a feature I use. I have my phone on do not disturb most of the time and make people text me. I think it notified me for a parcel last monday but I didn't look at it. The parcel was there when I got home. My doorbell is watching a communal landing walkway rather than a garden path. I live in the middle of the block so it would ping me about sixty times every day as all the neighbours and their callers walk past my door. I am surprised how busy the landing is at night too. All this movement is recorded and the AI can name my favourite neighbours and spot their dogs and the odd seagull. It knows when the lower camera is used so treats parcels differently. I can check the post by looking at my phone from wherever I am. I have the basket so that parcels aren't just dumped in front of the door or taken back to the depot and the camera makes itself very obvious with two bright LEDs. I live in a sixties low rise concrete block. About 50 people live within 50 metres of me and many of those have their own Smart Home systems. It presents challenges to a smart home wi-fi system that typical low density American construction doesn't. I suspect there is very little testing for this situation.

https://www.netatmo.com/smart-video-doorbell This doorbell was referenced in another thread similar to this. It has SD Card storage but can then backup wirelessly via FTP which you could set up on your NAS. Alternatively, I use a eufy wireless doorbell which stores everything on the homebase which is a proprietary eufy storage, so if you're just looking to keep everything local and not in the cloud, this is also a way to do it and I've been really happy with my eufy security system and not having to pay any monthly fees or have anything in the cloud.

Same situation here, I was actually surprised that it worked okay through this winter. There were a couple real frigid days that killed the batteries, but overall it worked better than I expected. Only complaint is it can be a bit slow to detect people at the door - Apple TV puts up a thumbnail with who’s at the door, but it usually comes up as they’re walking away 😆 but I suspect that is an issue with my wifi, and not the doorbell itself.

You can get your Eufy doorbell working with Homebridge by the way. I think for starters, I suggest getting an Apple TV or HomePod mini, ideally a HomePod for your main rooms, which helps with issuing commands to Siri. I have the following in place: Hue - Lightbulbs and motion sensors, smart plugs Aqara - Door, water and temperature sensors, U200, FP2, Camera G2H Pro, LED lights for behind TVs. Ring security system (Connected with Homebridge) Ring Outside Flood Camera (Connected with Scrypted) TPLink POE Mesh using a Omada controller Govee ceiling light and floor lamp (much cheaper than Hue, connected using Homebridge) All my hue lights have a wall switch cover with a hue remote. Stops people turning off the physical light switch. I have one physical Aqara switch for the bathroom with dual rocker, one for lights another which controls the extractor fan. I’ve been building up my setup since I purchased my first house in 2020.

Here’s my take. Apologies for the length but, Eufy can be a perfect choice for some people. But not for me anymore. Their hardware is relatively affordable and easy to use and of pretty good picture quality. The app is packed with a lot of different settings to adjust and cool AI features. But I now see why people hate on Eufy so much. They really do kind of sucker you in with their marketing. I have 12 of their cameras, including the door bell. I wanted a locally stored no fee system and Eufy was seemingly the best consumer product. The customer support is hit or miss. Some of the “tech/maintenance” phone support are helpful, other times completely useless. I ordered one of the Smart Drops, a month went by with no communication of my order, for some reason since the order was made in their app, I couldn’t look it up to check the status on their website, wouldn’t come up. I contacted them requesting to cancel my order, coincidentally that same day I received a tracking number and it was shipped out that day, then said it couldn’t be cancelled because it was in transit. They refused to pay for a return shipping label after delivery, but for some reason would only offer a 50% refund. I was able to successfully dispute the charge with Amex. I wish the door bell could have the option to wire to continuously record but it doesn’t. The motion detection misses a lot, better have at least 1 back up cam watching as well. Hard drive in the base station disconnects and reconnects too many times for me to consider it as reliable. The whole system is buggy, laggy, and sometimes slow/unresponsive. The fact they have everything on a seemingly constant 50ish% off sale makes me think they must be collecting some type of data and using “you” as the product. Idk. They give me bad vibes, so I’m switching to Unifi. Honestly, if you can swing the extra costs involved, I would recommend looking into Unifi Protect.

No such issues with mine. Like with the Eufy doorbell, it replaced, I designed and 3D printed a wall mount that lets me plug a solar panel into the back so I don't worry about battery. But even before I had that hooked up, it seemed fine. Only thing I wish it had was animal detection.

I've had Ring and Eufy, both were good quality but I found the Eufy a bit slower to notify. So I'd get the "someone at the front door" message when the postman was already halfway back down the drive after delivering the postman. With the Ring one, I get notified once they step on the driveway.

I've sat on my hands with regard to posting this because I don't want this post to highlight inadequacies of some products, therefore highlighting properties where these can be seen, as an "easier" target, therefore choosing my wording carefully. Asking Officers, Investigators and other operational staff, which video doorbells and "cloud" cctv systems you've experienced, and have stood out to you as being good quality. As tempting as it may be, please DONT comment to say which ones are bad, only looking for positives here for the reasons above. I'm trying to compile a list of good ones that can be recommended as part of a community safety charity i'm involved with. I'll kick it off with the eufy series of doorbells, not tried their CCTV but the quality from the doorbells was fantastic both day and night , i was very impressed and had not heard of them prior.

I had 2 eufy doorbells. The first one was good for a while. Then it stopped picking up motion. The battery was never really good. It would last a couple of weeks before it needed to be charged. I changed all the settings to optimise the battery power, but it did nothing. The second one was worse. It stopped picking up motion for most of the night and long periods during the day. The battery lasts a week. Eufy customer service was so bad. They were weeks promising me a new doorbell. I had enough and got a refund eventually. I should have learned after the first one.

I'm on aqara and that's what I'm recommending now. I started with ring but I needed to reset the connection regularly and there was a subscription fee. Then I went to eufy, but I needed to reset the connection all the time. I initially got it because it was supposed to link to Alexa show devices but after a year I think they dropped support. Really hated it. Next I went to aqara. Never needed to reset the connection since the install. Its wired and battery operated, so best of both worlds (battery backup). It uses a hub, which I thought would be an issue but turns out I like that better. The hub is small and right next to my router (no connection concerns), plugged into the UPS (no concern for power outage), the SD card plugs into the hub so if anything ever happened to the camera I'd still have access to my files. It works well enough with Amazon (will show the feed on Amazon devices on demand, will announce when I'm watching something on the firestick). There's also plenty of automation features (recognize faces, custom ring tones was fun for Halloween, ring tones for specific people when they are recognized). Gripes for the aqara G4 - only 5 custom ring tones, not sure why there's a limitation when it's all just stored on the SD card. Similarly there's a limit to 30 recognized faces, really dont understand why. It frequently reverts from continuous recording to event recording, which is a problem. The app is not streamlined at all. The functionality is there and easy to use for whatever you'd want to do but it's really not intelligently organized. Despite these gripes I'm taking the G4 over the eufy any day.

For smoke/carbon monoxide I have the "First Alert Battery Powered Z-Wave Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Alarm, Works with Ring Alarm Base Station, 2nd Generation" on Amazon. Seems to work fine. I've never had it go off for a real scenario though. I have notifications set up through the SmartThings app to go to my phone (along with turning on all the lights in my house). For lock I've used the Yale Assure Z-Wave for several years and it works great for me. I prefer doorbells that don't have monthly fees. I like the Eufy doorbell. It does not integrate with SmartThings. My alarm system is hooked into SmartThings but I had an existing alarm panel so I added an Eyezon board which then integrated into SmartThings.

I did the same move and overall quality Eufy is better, doorbell functionality, I miss ring. When somebody rings my doorbell, I don’t get that 🔔 emoji on the notification to differ it from normal motion notifications, and this may look silly, but makes me miss people ringing for not spot right what is in the notification content. Second thing is that once I finally respond to it ringing on my phone, it takes too long to open the live view, which can be annoying sometimes. I’m using the same phone and connection I used with Ring, so I wasn’t expecting such different results.

I've also been thinking about changing my eufy to reolink. I would have a memory card for app usage but would also link to either hikvison NVR or frigate. Does anyone know if I use either of these for 24/7 recording will it also record audio? Also can you confirm that 2 way audio recording works well in the app? Eufy only records audio from the visitor side so you don't get a recording of any conversation.

The dual cameras in some of the eufy's are nice, but that's about the only win there. Battery life on mine has been poor (recharging almost monthly) despite that unit being the one that is somewhat secluded, so it doesn't get triggered very often. If you try to build out beyond the doorbell, the software is all over the map. The hardware is generally nice, but lots of random surprises, like some have local SD support, some support RTSP, some support the Home Base, others do none of that.

Way better. Battery life on ring products is terrible. Battery life is better, video is better, and it's stored locally on the homebase. I'm so glad I switched.

I recommend Eufy for multiple reasons I have’t seen anyone else mention. First, great response time… almost no lag between detection and notification. A friend’s Ring was so slow that a person could walk 30 feet to the door, drop a package and be back out of sight before the Ring alerted. Next, the Eufy’s picture is great, even in poor lighting conditions. My porch is in shade with bright Arizona sun in the background, but every video is crystal clear. Finally, Eufy offers multiple storage options that don’t require a contract. My first Eufy had a micro SD card, my current five camera setup uses Homebase. To be fair, I’ve never even heard of Tapo, so they might be better. Ring will never be cost effective no matter how good a product it is.

I have an eufy and wouldn't recommend it. The delay opening the app to the camera is often 30 seconds. The automations often stop working and need a reboot, but you only find that out after it hasn't been working for a few days. And of course the most annoying bit, Phantom doorbell rings (not often but a handful of times a year). Doing it again I'd pick a different product, I'd even consider a subscription service.

I went through this whole chain of thought and did hours of research. Leaving out Ring and Nest, here are your options: Reolink - Pretty good, but a little weak on the features. Tried one, will be returning. UniFi - Well reviewed, but if you want or need any of their best features, one camera is around $400. On top of that, you need their other hardware and to wires installed. This is for the enthusiast, wealthy, or willing to go into debt for it. Eufy - I viewed this one as the best compromise. There are AI features, an affordable Home Base where you can toss a cheap SSD, and the camera hardware is a step up from Nest and Ring. No cloud use. Your data is local. So the AI and software side isn't as good as Google, but they do well enough. I've got five wired cameras and a wired doorbell.

I am in the process of moving back to nest because of the lack of 24/7 recording. I moved to eufy a few years ago but having no option to enable 24/7 recording in the door bell camera is a deal breaker for me. The way nest handles 24/7 recording is just excellent, scrolling through the timeline is super convenient. It doesn't seem like a complicated feature to implement but not sure why eufy doesn't do it. Also the front doorbell goes off randomly from time to time, very annoying. The backyard camera is the eufy outdoor solar one, and not having to plug in a power cable is an amazing feature, but then the notification settings are not the same as the door bell, which is again very annoying. I have to keep turning the notifications of the backyard camera off when my kids are playing there, since it will just keep buzzing. An option to enable time based notifications would be great. And lastly, the home and away functionality is so unpredictable. I have tried all possible settings to always allow location access, etc. but it has its own brain. Anyway, I'm just not satisfied overall.

Yeah I have the Eufy one and while it’s a decent camera overall but the top camera that looks straight out is hot garbage when it comes to quality. Like maybe 10-15 feet of clear sight and anything over that is blurry. Like I have a stop sign with the cross streets probably 30 feet from it and you can’t read the street names.

B on 22.5 degree angled bracket. I've got my Eufy set up to face the driveway from that same side and capture people approaching door. Cam angle is wide at about 140 degrees capture door and portico as well. Bracket deep screwed to door frame for me though (timber). If it's wireless, test the various locations. That's what I did.

Wyze garbage does exactly this. Every September when the sun was just right the thing would go offline. I even installed a tiny switch to restart the thing. Went with a Eufy because my door is in white balance hell and it does a wayyyyyy better job for the conditions. Yeah Eufy comes with its own problems (and benefits) but it and it hasn’t overheated at all.

You wont get continuous recording and a battery as it will kill the battery real quick. Eufy is good as mentioned. However, you can also add camera on the homebase so if someone presses the doorbell and you decide to answer it remotely (the recording stops while you talk and view the person on the doorbell camera) the second camera will record the conversation if you need it.

Anker sells products in over 146 countries and regions and has more than 120 million users. Eufy is a company that creates smart technology for the home. Eufy devices store videos locally and use AES encryption to secure them. Anker’s security processes for Eufy security cameras include: End-to-end encryption for all video streams No sharing of videos, user images, or biometric details with the cloud Dynamic keys instead of fixed keys No access to user live streams or recorded videos

Eufy user here as well - The camera quality is amazing but the delay is massive (about 3-5 seconds) so hard to have a conversation with someone. Notifications are also delayed by a few seconds. Sometimes it's impossible to remotely connect to the doorbell and then when it finally connects... the person is already gone. Generally wouldn't recommend :(

I have the eufy. In my experience the delay makes it useless for two way communication. My set up is that it's mounted to the outside of a brick letterbox. The router/homebase have clear line of sight through the window to the letterbox about ten metres away. I guess the letterbox gives too much interference.

I had a eufy as my husband works nights and I wanted to be notified if anyone was in the house. I found the notification time to be so slow. If I’d have had any intruders they’d have had about a minute before I’d have known. I went back to Blink and got the extra part so I didn’t need a subscription and much prefer it.

I just installed mine yesterday. I'll say it's a lot taller than my previous eufy one. I had to skip using the 30 degree mount because those holes are even taller and wouldn't really work for my house (tall wood slats). I can't get my MicroSD card to work at all so far, not at all a problem with my previous 8 cameras around the house. Formatting and restarting the camera isn't changing it. Same cards I've used in the others just fine. 64GB. I'll probably pull it tonight to see what the deal is...I struggled to get the cables to hide it wasn't easy to get connected based on where the wires come through.

I’m confused by this? I never had Ring and just got Eufy. My doorbell base screws to the house and the doorbell piece clips into the base securely and you need a little tool to remove it. I don’t think it would be too easy to take without really trying to pull the whole setup off the house

If you don't want the Homebase you can get the camera with an sd card as far as I know but you'd need to buy a doorbell chime thingy that you plug in so you can hear if someone rings the bell. If you don't care for the chime and just want the camera you go for that option too. It's about 120 quid.

I've had a eufy doorbell for 4 years connected to a homebase. Only glitched once with a missed doorbell in that time. Also used to report a crime with a successful conviction. So overall very positive experiences. Floodlight cam is a different story. That needs resetting at least every 3 months and because it's mains wired, I have to cut the breaker to reset it. Never liked the horror stories of Ring staff talking to children or ringing women to ask for their number. Would never own any cloud based cameras where creepy employees abuse access. Only issue with Eufy is their prices are starting to climb and there are cheaper alternatives with exactly the same feature set.

I’m pretty satisfied with mine as well. I bought the spare battery so there’s always one on the charger and I just swap it out. But I didn’t realize the batter is as poor as it is (1-2 weeks depending on temps) and I literally exchanged the first one I got as broken because “the battery wouldn’t hold a charge”. 😅 next one was exactly the same. And yeah, since then I now have 4 cameras outside and two inside (I foster animals sometimes and have cameras in the animals areas). I’ve thought about getting their roomba
