I have a Eufy battery doorbell cam and another cam over my driveway with a solar panel charger. They connect to a hub that also chimes. I have no complaints. Vastly better than Ring, in my experience.
I'm also team Eufy. I have a 2C Pro overlooking my driveway. I also mounted a solar power panel to keep it charged, even set for optimal surveillance. It has been very reliable and responsive. I also have a battery doorbell (T8210) which is pretty good. Sometimes it fails to detect motion and it is slow to start recording. Videos of delivery people sometimes start with them walking away. I think wired would be a lot better, but my house has no doorbell wiring to use. It still performs better than the Ring I once had.
I had an Amazon discount for the Ring doorbell, so I bought it a few weeks ago. Surprise, a massive disappointment for how Amazon requested a plus subscription. I have returned and take an Eufy 320 with homebase 2, much, much better
I just did :) In my mind it was 3 euro per month with a deal for the yearly pay (30€?) But I saw the new bill starting from 15-9 and it was €100 per year. (usually I don't look at bills) Fortunately my nest doorbell broke down, got a refund and ordered a new one a week ago. So I returned the new one and canceled subscription yesterday. I went for a eufy with homebase 3, homebase about price of 1 year aware pay so it pays for itself :) Video quality is also a LOT better! In EU was a deal at AMZ, €50 off for each device. No brainer for me :)
I used the Eufy Video Doorbell 2K for a while and found it pretty solid. It's wired, so no battery hassle, and it delivers clear live viewing and night vision.
I ended up using the Eufy Security Video Doorbell 2K. While it still needs wifi for remote access, its wired design means no battery issues and it records continuously with local storage.
I don't know about OP but eufy has a home base central storage and processing unit that your cameras can connect to. You can install your own 2.5" drive to expand storage. Cameras connect to the base station instead of your home wifi. It stores clips (or 24/7 recordings for non-doorbell wired cameras), performs additional processing like facial recognition, vehicle detection, etc. It also services l serves as an indoor doorbell chime if you prefer. Data is stored encrypted on the home base.
(UK) I have a Eufy battery powered doorbell cam. My door is on the floor below the main living area of my flat. The building is made of reinforced concrete with rebar and the door has metal eight point locking built into it and the bell never loses a wifi signal. I have the Homebase three and a seperate chime in my kitchen. I always hear the bell and so does the courier, so they know it works. A quick check shows you can turn off the bell sound. Couriers here like to do a teeny tiny knock and then leave. One courier waited four seconds before leaving. It is physically impossible for anyone to get to the door in these flats in four seconds. I have fitted a wire basket of the type used on the backs of electric wheelchairs to my door (this is partially shielded by a downpipe so it doesn't protude where anyone would walk) The Royal Mail deliverer puts parcels into the basket but never rings the bell. The downward facing camera watches the parcel and I have a warning notice that the spot is being recorded in the basket to deter thieves. This set up is working great. I did buy a second battery pack and have snapped off one unlocking key by pulling down on it, but with no lasting damage. I am very happy with Eufy but wish it would work with Smart Things.
The parcel alert isn't a feature I use. I have my phone on do not disturb most of the time and make people text me. I think it notified me for a parcel last monday but I didn't look at it. The parcel was there when I got home. My doorbell is watching a communal landing walkway rather than a garden path. I live in the middle of the block so it would ping me about sixty times every day as all the neighbours and their callers walk past my door. I am surprised how busy the landing is at night too. All this movement is recorded and the AI can name my favourite neighbours and spot their dogs and the odd seagull. It knows when the lower camera is used so treats parcels differently. I can check the post by looking at my phone from wherever I am. I have the basket so that parcels aren't just dumped in front of the door or taken back to the depot and the camera makes itself very obvious with two bright LEDs. I live in a sixties low rise concrete block. About 50 people live within 50 metres of me and many of those have their own Smart Home systems. It presents challenges to a smart home wi-fi system that typical low density American construction doesn't. I suspect there is very little testing for this situation.
I have 4 Eufy cameras, mostly bought before the troubles a few years ago, though one in the last year. My ca. 2021 doorbell had the lens fall off right before the end of the warranty. Eufy sent out a replacement promptly. I have specifically chosen not to put any of their cameras inside my home but have not removed their cameras from my exterior (and as stated above, have added an additional). Their app is perfectly fine, save for the occasional annoying popup or overlay to buy more cameras. Their security concerns and lies don't make the cameras any worse or better than any given Wifi Camera made in China and storing/processing videos in the cloud, but they do make them liars. I have enough belief that my stuff is primarily local to the Homebase but I never can be (and never was) perfectly sure.
I have a Eufy and haven’t had any issues. I’ve had it installed through a TX summer without it frying, so I take that for a win lol. No connection or WiFi issues at all. I got the hardwired (also has the battery to be only battery powered) and the homebase 3.
Eufy is good if you get the homebase, everything recorded and stored locally. The homebase can act as a chime for the doorbell which is a nice plus. All of amazons stuff is good, but it often comes with a subscription to get basic features which is a shame.
