Stay away from Eufy - I've had nothing but problems with mine. It fails to pick up movement many times, even when the subject is walking straight up towards the camera, the intercom system stopped working so I can't speak to the people through the doorbell, and it throws false notifications based on my neighbor's roofline from across the street. But then sometimes it will pickup the cars driving by the house, so it's fickle.

Mine doesn't have a battery backup and doesn't require the HomeBase system. On paper I liked it for the local storage and access of videos, without a monthly fee. In practice, woof.

I wanted one with good visuals for both night time and facing direct sunlight that didn’t require a monthly sub & that could be hard wired to my old doorbell’s power source (no batteries). Got the “Video Doorbell 2K (wired)” & it’s exactly what I was looking for. I had a Ring before this one and its WiFi was spotty & didn’t let you review archived clips after your trial ran out, so it wasn’t for me.

Have the Eufy 24v wired version. It won't connect to 5ghz wifi, only connect to 2.4ghz. So right now it's a brick.

I like the eufy wired doorbell. I had one of the older more original brands of doorbell cams, and the hot afternoon sun fried it after about 6 years. The eufy seemed a good replacement, and we’ve been really happy with it for 4 years.

I’ve had a hardwired Eufy doorbell camera for four years now, and it has never given me a problem. I can view the recordings on my iPhone and iPad and save any ones I need to hold on to. I am so satisfied with it that I recently added a Eufy fingerprint-enabled door lock with a rechargeable battery, and monitor both through the same Eufy software. They’re nice products and the installation instructions are clear and straightforward.

I use the PoE version at work and other than a delay of several seconds that hasn’t improved permanently with updates (was fine at first after an update) but now it is back to ~4 seconds. Not a fan of my Eufy wired at home that won’t let me pull directly from it!

I've got a eufy and I really like it. The wired version allows you to pre-record up to 4 seconds, so you get clips that start before motion triggers the recording, which is nice. Sometimes doorbell cameras miss the start of something important. My parents have a reolink and the app kinda sucks. I can't remember all my reasons for disliking it, but the big one is that you can't set motion detection zones for the camera. My parents have a flag on their front porch so they have dozens of clips per day that just have the flag waving.

I've had the wired doorbell for 5 years now and I have 6 solar cameras around the outside of my house. I bought the homebase3 from them and bought a 2tb ssd so my stuff is stored locally. The doorbell gives me a ton a false positives because of my tree. It's basically only good for when people ring the doorbell. I love not paying a subscription though and the solar cameras have actually kept up. I don't keep them in my home because of security concerns from the company, but I'm being real here all our info is leaked anyways

We've not had any sound problems with ours. Biggest issue has been the occasional unwanted detection of objects as 'human' - generally this has to do with recent software/detection updates and is usually transient. However, it's still far better than any other video doorbell I've ever used.

Idk if it's too late, but mine broke after 2 years. Just randomly stopped alerting me. Stopped recording everything. Maybe it fried in the sun? The app is garbage, whenever I open it, I'm being advertised another eufy product. I'm trying to look at security footage, not shop. Sometimes I'd get an alert, and the playback wouldn't work at all until a month later.  It broke after the warranty expired. So I switched to Reolink. It has less features, but works for me. The market for non-cloud security doorbells sucks. I don't want to pay a monthly service to use a doorbell.

I just bought mine from Costco, and I really like them. The video quality is great they integrate with Alexa and have been very reliable. My doorbell is wired, and notifications are instant. I only have 2 cameras, the doorbell one and an indoor one that I have set up in my garage. The best part is that no subscription is required. For my setup, I can not imagine a scenario where I need to see both cameras at once.

I've owned a Ring, and now a Eufy. The 'out of the house' experience is almost the same. I can retrieve footage from the videos stored on the microSD card in my house. I can respond directly to people who've pressed the doorbell. The doorbell communicates to a plugged in chime, and the chime to your router. The chime holds the footage on a memory card.

I'll also add, if you're on Android, expect the app to be forever buggy, not working correctly, and for them to promise to fix it, only to release another version that won't actually fix anything for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oceanwing.battery.cam Check out the critical reviews, many are recent (from the last months and years), it's obvious that the app isn't a priority to them, which makes these increasingly unusable

We got a Eufy doorbell installed, its very good as it doesn't require subscription like some of the other brands, the one we got came with a base station (as we needed one to work with other wireless cameras) and its generally been good. The ones with internal storage seems to work faster than ones which take SD cards, but the SD card options are a bit cheaper. You can also get one with dual camera (2nd one points down) if you want to keep a view of courier packages.

Here’s my take. Apologies for the length but, Eufy can be a perfect choice for some people. But not for me anymore. Their hardware is relatively affordable and easy to use and of pretty good picture quality. The app is packed with a lot of different settings to adjust and cool AI features. But I now see why people hate on Eufy so much. They really do kind of sucker you in with their marketing. I have 12 of their cameras, including the door bell. I wanted a locally stored no fee system and Eufy was seemingly the best consumer product. The customer support is hit or miss. Some of the “tech/maintenance” phone support are helpful, other times completely useless. I ordered one of the Smart Drops, a month went by with no communication of my order, for some reason since the order was made in their app, I couldn’t look it up to check the status on their website, wouldn’t come up. I contacted them requesting to cancel my order, coincidentally that same day I received a tracking number and it was shipped out that day, then said it couldn’t be cancelled because it was in transit. They refused to pay for a return shipping label after delivery, but for some reason would only offer a 50% refund. I was able to successfully dispute the charge with Amex. I wish the door bell could have the option to wire to continuously record but it doesn’t. The motion detection misses a lot, better have at least 1 back up cam watching as well. Hard drive in the base station disconnects and reconnects too many times for me to consider it as reliable. The whole system is buggy, laggy, and sometimes slow/unresponsive. The fact they have everything on a seemingly constant 50ish% off sale makes me think they must be collecting some type of data and using “you” as the product. Idk. They give me bad vibes, so I’m switching to Unifi. Honestly, if you can swing the extra costs involved, I would recommend looking into Unifi Protect.

It’s tough that you don’t have wiring for a doorbell, because no battery-powered option is going to match a wired one for reliability. I’ve been using a Ring wired doorbell along with a few wired Ring outdoor cameras, and they’ve been rock-solid when it comes to alerts and notifications. I’m not a fan of paying a subscription, but in Ring’s case I keep it because the reliability makes it worth it. I tried the Eufy doorbell in the past and the notifications were hit or miss. Until something else can match Ring’s consistency, I think they’ll stay at the top of the doorbell game.

I've sat on my hands with regard to posting this because I don't want this post to highlight inadequacies of some products, therefore highlighting properties where these can be seen, as an "easier" target, therefore choosing my wording carefully. Asking Officers, Investigators and other operational staff, which video doorbells and "cloud" cctv systems you've experienced, and have stood out to you as being good quality. As tempting as it may be, please DONT comment to say which ones are bad, only looking for positives here for the reasons above. I'm trying to compile a list of good ones that can be recommended as part of a community safety charity i'm involved with. I'll kick it off with the eufy series of doorbells, not tried their CCTV but the quality from the doorbells was fantastic both day and night , i was very impressed and had not heard of them prior.

I had 2 eufy doorbells. The first one was good for a while. Then it stopped picking up motion. The battery was never really good. It would last a couple of weeks before it needed to be charged. I changed all the settings to optimise the battery power, but it did nothing. The second one was worse. It stopped picking up motion for most of the night and long periods during the day. The battery lasts a week. Eufy customer service was so bad. They were weeks promising me a new doorbell. I had enough and got a refund eventually. I should have learned after the first one.

Google would be a better choice IMO, I just sold my Google doorbell for the newest Eufy model and I semi regret it. Google you just place outside and the thing is amazing, the AI is great and I've never had any issues. The eufy... Omg the lighting has to be right or the sensitivity has to be right otherwise it'll miss picking people up and it takes a damn near 2 minutes before it realizes there is a package and then another 2 minutes to tell you it's gone. Although on the contrary when it does work good it works good but there is just to many variables you gotta play around with when Google you just set it and forget it. Just my 2 cents

I'm on aqara and that's what I'm recommending now. I started with ring but I needed to reset the connection regularly and there was a subscription fee. Then I went to eufy, but I needed to reset the connection all the time. I initially got it because it was supposed to link to Alexa show devices but after a year I think they dropped support. Really hated it. Next I went to aqara. Never needed to reset the connection since the install. Its wired and battery operated, so best of both worlds (battery backup). It uses a hub, which I thought would be an issue but turns out I like that better. The hub is small and right next to my router (no connection concerns), plugged into the UPS (no concern for power outage), the SD card plugs into the hub so if anything ever happened to the camera I'd still have access to my files. It works well enough with Amazon (will show the feed on Amazon devices on demand, will announce when I'm watching something on the firestick). There's also plenty of automation features (recognize faces, custom ring tones was fun for Halloween, ring tones for specific people when they are recognized). Gripes for the aqara G4 - only 5 custom ring tones, not sure why there's a limitation when it's all just stored on the SD card. Similarly there's a limit to 30 recognized faces, really dont understand why. It frequently reverts from continuous recording to event recording, which is a problem. The app is not streamlined at all. The functionality is there and easy to use for whatever you'd want to do but it's really not intelligently organized. Despite these gripes I'm taking the G4 over the eufy any day.

I did the same move and overall quality Eufy is better, doorbell functionality, I miss ring. When somebody rings my doorbell, I don’t get that 🔔 emoji on the notification to differ it from normal motion notifications, and this may look silly, but makes me miss people ringing for not spot right what is in the notification content. Second thing is that once I finally respond to it ringing on my phone, it takes too long to open the live view, which can be annoying sometimes. I’m using the same phone and connection I used with Ring, so I wasn’t expecting such different results.

So happy to finally ditch the Eufy doorbell, it takes way too long to load.

I've also been thinking about changing my eufy to reolink. I would have a memory card for app usage but would also link to either hikvison NVR or frigate. Does anyone know if I use either of these for 24/7 recording will it also record audio? Also can you confirm that 2 way audio recording works well in the app? Eufy only records audio from the visitor side so you don't get a recording of any conversation.

The dual cameras in some of the eufy's are nice, but that's about the only win there. Battery life on mine has been poor (recharging almost monthly) despite that unit being the one that is somewhat secluded, so it doesn't get triggered very often. If you try to build out beyond the doorbell, the software is all over the map. The hardware is generally nice, but lots of random surprises, like some have local SD support, some support RTSP, some support the Home Base, others do none of that.

Happy to be enlightened, but as of yet it's all smooth sailing for me. I'm thoroughly impressed by the 2c camera and doorbell and also the door lock I got. We have a Eufy. It has motion sensors on it. You need an SD card (it’s stored within the bell, so yes, if your bell is stolen,so is the card) if you want to store videos. The videos also go straight to your phone though, so you’ll have access, and you can save them. It’s easy to set up but has gone offline a few times in the couple of years we’ve had it, and it’s annoying to have to figure out how to reset it. That said, it’s simple enough once you figure it out. The motion sensor doesn’t always work either. Oh, and you need to make sure the bell is plugged in somewhere where everyone can hear it, although it connects to an app too (so your phone will go off when anything exciting happens), and you can have as many people as you like linked to it. Apart from that, it’s great. Err 6 out of 10 in my book, and I’d probably get something else if I’d shopped around first, but I can’t be 100%. I’m sure they all have similar issues.

I switched from a nest doorbell to Eufy in August. I like the Eufy better. I bought a homebase 3 to get facial recognition and more storage which are things I had to subscribe for with Google. The dual camera system has a much better field of view. The real test IMO is going to be winter. The nest wouldn't charge in the cold and outright shutdown below -25C. It had to be removed from the wall to charge so that meant for 8 hours we had no doorbell a couple times per winter. The Eufy has a removable battery that can be charged separately. So even if it can't charge via the doorbell wiring in the cold I can have a fully charged battery ready to go and then just swap it out quickly. The only downside I've found so far is the Eufy can't ring through google speakers. It does activate our door bell chime and the homebase also rings when someone rings the doorbell so it's a minor annoyance.

I recommend Eufy for multiple reasons I have’t seen anyone else mention. First, great response time… almost no lag between detection and notification. A friend’s Ring was so slow that a person could walk 30 feet to the door, drop a package and be back out of sight before the Ring alerted. Next, the Eufy’s picture is great, even in poor lighting conditions. My porch is in shade with bright Arizona sun in the background, but every video is crystal clear. Finally, Eufy offers multiple storage options that don’t require a contract. My first Eufy had a micro SD card, my current five camera setup uses Homebase. To be fair, I’ve never even heard of Tapo, so they might be better. Ring will never be cost effective no matter how good a product it is.

Really disappointed with eufy. Ok entry point. Bought the local home base for storage. Cameras not sensitive, loading to your network and phone to get a notification is really slow. Example : person rings my doorbell with package when I’m out. I try and answer. Connection took until after they drove off to even load the camera. Sound never works to speak o someone to tell them where to store it. Example 2: bike was stolen from RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA. And it never picked it up. Picked up me running after the dude with my bike. Doorbell holder also broke in year of taking it out to charge it and I’ve tried 7 attempts to work with the company but they keep recommend the wrong bracket or out of stock ones that never come back in. Totally waste of money!

I have great wireless connectivity in a small (890 square foot) apartment. Outside of Apple Home the cameras load instantly and I never miss an event. I love everything else about the Home app just gave up on the cameras. I had a Circle View camera, the doorbell one and the regular round one. Both would overheat in direct sun. I have an eufy and wouldn't recommend it. The delay opening the app to the camera is often 30 seconds. The automations often stop working and need a reboot, but you only find that out after it hasn't been working for a few days. And of course the most annoying bit, Phantom doorbell rings (not often but a handful of times a year). Doing it again I'd pick a different product, I'd even consider a subscription service.

I went through this whole chain of thought and did hours of research. Leaving out Ring and Nest, here are your options: Reolink - Pretty good, but a little weak on the features. Tried one, will be returning. UniFi - Well reviewed, but if you want or need any of their best features, one camera is around $400. On top of that, you need their other hardware and to wires installed. This is for the enthusiast, wealthy, or willing to go into debt for it. Eufy - I viewed this one as the best compromise. There are AI features, an affordable Home Base where you can toss a cheap SSD, and the camera hardware is a step up from Nest and Ring. No cloud use. Your data is local. So the AI and software side isn't as good as Google, but they do well enough. I've got five wired cameras and a wired doorbell.

No. Google doorbell is going to give you the full experience of showing you the doorbell view when someone rings the doorbell. Yes there are cameras that can technically work with Google devices like my Eufy cams and doorbell but they don't have the announcement and immediate streaming of the doorbell. It's the same story with Amazon Echo devices and Ring doorbells. You get more features when you use devices that have tight Integration. Just keep in mind that because a device might say it "Works With Google" doesn't mean it is full featured like Google Nest devices.

Basic set up customer service is US based and you can talk to them on the phone. They were great. But anything beyond that had to go to techs in China and only via email. Since they worked during the day in China it would take two days to get a response and then they kept asking me for the same information I had already sent them...AND was in the email chain that had their requests. They finally decided that the cameras needed replaced but claimed they did not have any to send me and would not offer any other models at a discount. So I just sent them back and still stuck with Ring.

YES! I did, and I love it! I got mine for practically nothing off their eBay sight. It said it was refurbished, but looked and was packaged like it was new! The app is great and it’s all free! Don’t keep making Ring (Amazon and Jeff Bezos) richer and do yourself a favor and go with Eufy. I actually have the Eufy smart deadbolt and it works flawlessly! I can open lock and unlock my front door from anywhere in the world!

I have Ring and it sucks. Unless you have a subscription, it doesn't save any video so unless you catch the person right as they ring the door, you'll have no idea who was there. If I could do it again, I'd do Eufy. Ring sucks

I have Eufy as well and works really well. Im in Canada and we get -40C here and no problem. The only thing is that the integration with Google home is a bit leggy. Takes time to load the stream on Google home app. I always answer using eufy app directly and have no issues. Great company.

Oh the ring was terrible. It worked good initially and then got really delayed on its notifications. Changed to eufy worked great, local video storage and using the hub I connected up 4 additional cameras around the house, simply a fantastic product.

Oops, sorry don't see your question. Yes eufy can access everything remotely, can connect door bells, house cameras (internal and external) No monthly fee, just buy and use. Remote access is totally fine. Can also get nice solar cameras so no needs to remove and charge.

I’ve got a eufy one. It’s good and ties in well with the other cameras. Has two views - straight ahead and straight down (for package delivery/detection) Notifications are spot on and live and recorded clips are of good quality. Has picked up a few weirdos coming up to the front door so good to have a better awareness of what’s going on in the neighbourhood.

I’m confused by this? I never had Ring and just got Eufy. My doorbell base screws to the house and the doorbell piece clips into the base securely and you need a little tool to remove it. I don’t think it would be too easy to take without really trying to pull the whole setup off the house

Think you could be right there . Have a nest thermostat and got an email from them to say that it’s not being supported anymore and the mail included a link to buy a tado brand at a discount. Surprised it didn’t suggest buying a new nest model so maybe google have plans to ditch this stuff. For that reason I bought a eufy doorbell and cameras

If you don't want the Homebase you can get the camera with an sd card as far as I know but you'd need to buy a doorbell chime thingy that you plug in so you can hear if someone rings the bell. If you don't care for the chime and just want the camera you go for that option too. It's about 120 quid.

I've had a eufy doorbell for 4 years connected to a homebase. Only glitched once with a missed doorbell in that time. Also used to report a crime with a successful conviction. So overall very positive experiences. Floodlight cam is a different story. That needs resetting at least every 3 months and because it's mains wired, I have to cut the breaker to reset it. Never liked the horror stories of Ring staff talking to children or ringing women to ask for their number. Would never own any cloud based cameras where creepy employees abuse access. Only issue with Eufy is their prices are starting to climb and there are cheaper alternatives with exactly the same feature set.

I totally get why someone wouldn’t buy a Eufy camera after what they did, but yeah currently I don’t have a problem with them. And I’m not really concerned with the view looking from my front door out to the street being the most secure stream ever. If the data is the highest priority, probably can’t use any off the shelf product.

6 months maybe when not in use :) it’s not complicated you have quite a lot settings in app, set up catch zones, persons animals cars, for me the hardest was to get to sync with app, now all working, it’s just 2.4g WiFi so you have to turn off 5g for a while in your router and then they will sync and after that all working I’m happy with eufy.

I’m pretty satisfied with mine as well. I bought the spare battery so there’s always one on the charger and I just swap it out. But I didn’t realize the batter is as poor as it is (1-2 weeks depending on temps) and I literally exchanged the first one I got as broken because “the battery wouldn’t hold a charge”. 😅 next one was exactly the same. And yeah, since then I now have 4 cameras outside and two inside (I foster animals sometimes and have cameras in the animals areas). I’ve thought about getting their roomba

The benefits we have found have been, being able to answer the door when we're away and ask deliveries to be left. Getting notifications when the door bell is ringing, tbh it's more just peace of mind than anything. companies having access to videos of your doorstep isn't really an issue, you can set it to record only when the door bell is pressed or motion activated at certain times.  The Eufy one we have has a hub where the footage is stored locally and not in the cloud.

I’ve had a few problems with it. Also hksv in general. I have it hardwired but sometimes it goes offline. My network is pretty solid, about 100 devices, the Logitech cameras go offline often and Aqara rarely but when it does it takes a hard reset to get it going. Eufy even more rarely but they have had their security issues. I think it’s mostly Apple’s fault with hksv that most of these products are so buggy. Wirecutter did an article on it a while back.

I had a eufy doorbell and the wifi stopped working after about a year. When i googled it, tons of people had the exact same problem after the same amount of time. Eufy was also in the news for a security flaw in their devices. I switched to Reolink after that and haven't had any issues. Just had to set up email notifications with human detection pics, since there's no OOTB push notification with pics.
