We got a Eufy doorbell installed, its very good as it doesn't require subscription like some of the other brands, the one we got came with a base station (as we needed one to work with other wireless cameras) and its generally been good. The ones with internal storage seems to work faster than ones which take SD cards, but the SD card options are a bit cheaper. You can also get one with dual camera (2nd one points down) if you want to keep a view of courier packages.
r/newzealand • Doorbell camera recommendations? ->i have a eufy doorbell (not e340) and it works out pretty well. easy to access videos when you have home base connected
r/newzealand • Doorbell Recommendations? ->I have one and it’s been pretty decent battery life. I think where you place it and how many often it records will impact battery life. Have you considered setting up exclusion zones?
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->good question! I had a look and I purchased it in january 25th this year and I have charged it twice since installing it. It is not the 6months but it is a lot longer than your 2 weeks! I am not doing 24/7 recording and my driveway is not facing the road or have people walking past frequently.
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->The c30 doorbell camera batteries are atrocious. 2 weeks charge when they advertise 6 months
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->So how long does your c30 doorbell last? They advertise 6 months so my 2 weeks is pathetic
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->Other people have had trouble with the battery and it's not constant recording. They lie about the 6 months
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->Yeah but they advertised an average of 6 months. I'd be happy with 3. But 2 weeks is pathetic.
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->You don't have the c30 battery doorbell.
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->If you're connecting to a home base then the Eufy cameras don't use the SD card anyway (they record straight to the internal storage on the home base). At least that's the case with my home base 2 and C30.
r/newzealand • Doorbell camera recommendations? ->I'm using the Eufy C30 (the cheapest one) it does have a micro SD card slot but that only works when you're using it stand-alone - if you have it connected to a homebase then it'll use the storage on that. Works well except battery life isn't great - I have to charge it every four weeks or so while the other Eufy cameras we have will last a couple of months between recharges (capturing a similar number of events)
r/newzealand • Doorbell Recommendations? ->I had the C30. It was utter garbage and demolished its battery in 3 weeks. I replaced it with an Aqara G4 doorbell and it hasn’t missed a beat. It does require 6x AA batteries, but these are lasting months for me. It can use fixed power though if you have that available. I recommend returning the Eufy and getting the Aqara.
r/EufyCam • Don't get this piece of sh*t video doorbell. (C210) ->The C30 Battery-Powered Video Doorbell Camera is absolutely terrible. I’ve been using it for a month now, paired with the HomeBase 3 and a 1TB SSD for local storage (so footage wouldn’t be lost if the doorbell is stolen), and I regret the purchase. This camera feels like a half-baked product, much like other new releases from Eufy. I switched to this from Wyze because I didn’t want to pay for a monthly subscription for person detection and was drawn to Eufy’s supposed facial recognition features and positive reviews. Big mistake. The camera is incredibly disappointing. The activity zones don’t work at all, and it constantly fails to detect motion—even with subjects just 10 feet away. I know the camera itself is the issue because my Wyze Cam 3, still mounted indoors on a window, consistently detects and records motion while the C30 shows no events. I’ve even turned off the broken activity zones, maxed out motion detection settings, and enabled features like other motion, person and face detection. Despite all that, the C30 often reports no events between 12 AM and 3 AM, while the Wyze Cam picks up everything without missing a single person. To make matters worse, the battery life on the C30 is terrible. Even on Balanced Surveillance mode with an activity zone limited to just my gated property, it drains fast. Overall, this camera has been a massive letdown, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
r/EufyCam • Switching to Eufy has been horrible ->FYI I’m pretty tech savvy and know how to setup the camera properly and know the right settings to choose but no matter what I did, the camera would miss motion events such as me coming home and parking my car in my driveway, which is roughly 6-7 feet’s away from the camera and in perfect view.
r/EufyCam • Switching to Eufy has been horrible ->Eufy C30 is wireless but nowhere near the 6 months before recharge advertising. At Best a month. There's TP LINK TAPO DOORBELL at Walmart for $45. I have one but haven't installed yet.
r/homesecurity • What's the best battery powered video doorbell? ->*I fixed it for me.* I had updated the firmware that caused the HomeBase to not be properly added. I went back into my home ad added the HomeBase and eveything started working as smoothly as I've come to expect from Eufy. That error message is crap though. It should definitely say "Home Base or Chime not found - Please check that HomeBase or Chime is added to your home"
r/EufyCam • C30 Doorbell: Quick Review ->I have had extremely mixed experiences and I think part of the problem is in vast differences in stability between models. It certainly seems like each device is made by a completely different manufacturer sometimes. I have had these experiences in this order: 1. A pair of 4G LTE Camera S330 cameras. They were virtually impossible to get working and even harder to get onto their sim cards. One eventually simply did not work and had to be returned for the same thing which did work. Why? I don't know. Firmware instability? Roll of the dice? Who knows. It wasn't hardware but they just refused to authenticate with the app. Now they are set up, they work alright most of the time and are still one of the only solar, standalone, sim cameras. 2. I bought a big pack for another home which (mercifully) did have wifi access. \- 1 x Homebase. \- 2 x outdoor solar cameras. Worked out of the box, unbelievably solid, reliable and good. They also have USB-C implying they were made/designed more recently than if they had micro usb. \- 1 x indoor wall plug camera. Has micro usb and is noticeably less reliable than the other ones in connecting, staying online etc. Still works almost all the time, no complains. \- 2 x Door sensors. No complains. Almost all of it works almost all the time and no issues whatsoever. All round excellent experience which repaired my initial experience and prompted me to buy some doorbells. \- 2 x C30 Doorbell. One was tricky to get worked in the connection but after a couple of resets it worked. The other worked out of the box to set up. Neither one worked fully though. No live view (P2P failure error) and lot's of down time. Doorbell to phone call worked once and never again. EXTREMELY unreliable in when it would or would not work and after 3 very long support sessions following the generic work, it's clear there is some weird software or firmware issue. No matter what was changed (reset, firmware updates, wifi tweaks, setting tweaks and I even used the beta application of theirs through testflight). These were USB-C too so modern hardware. I took them back to the store and replaced them with the same thing and exactly the same issues identically. I returned them. \- And replaced them with the wireless 2k dual camera which has a micro usb plug implying it's older and out of the box no issues and has worked ever since with zero problems. NFI what is with the differences. It's been extremely frustrating but I'm glad it works now and it's just so strange how perfect, smooth and excellent some of their offerings are with others being absolutely bonkers.
r/EufyCam • I find Eufy cameras excellent, despite some of the posts on here. Has anyone else here not had any issues? ->(UK) I have a Eufy battery powered doorbell cam. My door is on the floor below the main living area of my flat. The building is made of reinforced concrete with rebar and the door has metal eight point locking built into it and the bell never loses a wifi signal. I have the Homebase three and a seperate chime in my kitchen. I always hear the bell and so does the courier, so they know it works. A quick check shows you can turn off the bell sound. Couriers here like to do a teeny tiny knock and then leave. One courier waited four seconds before leaving. It is physically impossible for anyone to get to the door in these flats in four seconds. I have fitted a wire basket of the type used on the backs of electric wheelchairs to my door (this is partially shielded by a downpipe so it doesn't protude where anyone would walk) The Royal Mail deliverer puts parcels into the basket but never rings the bell. The downward facing camera watches the parcel and I have a warning notice that the spot is being recorded in the basket to deter thieves. This set up is working great. I did buy a second battery pack and have snapped off one unlocking key by pulling down on it, but with no lasting damage. I am very happy with Eufy but wish it would work with Smart Things.
r/homeautomation • Choosing between 3 video doorbells for an apartment ->The parcel alert isn't a feature I use. I have my phone on do not disturb most of the time and make people text me. I think it notified me for a parcel last monday but I didn't look at it. The parcel was there when I got home. My doorbell is watching a communal landing walkway rather than a garden path. I live in the middle of the block so it would ping me about sixty times every day as all the neighbours and their callers walk past my door. I am surprised how busy the landing is at night too. All this movement is recorded and the AI can name my favourite neighbours and spot their dogs and the odd seagull. It knows when the lower camera is used so treats parcels differently. I can check the post by looking at my phone from wherever I am. I have the basket so that parcels aren't just dumped in front of the door or taken back to the depot and the camera makes itself very obvious with two bright LEDs. I live in a sixties low rise concrete block. About 50 people live within 50 metres of me and many of those have their own Smart Home systems. It presents challenges to a smart home wi-fi system that typical low density American construction doesn't. I suspect there is very little testing for this situation.
r/homeautomation • Choosing between 3 video doorbells for an apartment ->\+1 for the Eufy, I've had mine for years and it's never failed me. The ONLY issue I've had with it is since updating the home base it gets announced as "Someone pressed the A750294BNH063490" for some reason instead of saying "front door" :-)
