You should get one that can ring your existing (non smart) chime. My Google Nest does this. It is as instant as the original button doorbell
r/AskIreland • Which doorbell camera? ->Don’t get your hopes up. Nothing but Nest works properly with Google Home. Google promised to provide an API over a year ago for other manufacturers but never did. What works for me is pushing the rtsp/webrtc feed of my reolink camera to my Nest hub when someone rings the doorbell. Works quickly with a latency of around a second but there’s no 2-way communication.
r/googlehome • Smart Doorbell without cloud storage ->That looks way better than the Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen
r/googlehome • Nest Doorbell 2K (Gen 3) UK Install (with pictures) ->In the middle of ditching nest for Reolink as well. Done with nest after their last price increase to Aware. Reolinks are recoding to the SD card, as well as a QNAP NAS in the house. And using scrypted to pipe things to Apple HomeKit to have events still recorded in the cloud (you know, in case the bad guys steal the camera and the NAS). Google Nest can kick rocks.
r/Nest • New 2k Doorbell ->I like the Aqara G5 Pro PoE camera but after terrible experiences with all their other cameras, I took the plunge on some Unifi G5 Turrets and couldn’t be happier. I run Homebridge on a synology DS920+ NAS and getting Unifi into HomeKit was easier than many products that actually support it natively. Going to swap my Nest doorbells that I have setup through Starling Hub with the Unifi PoE doorbell eventually and maybe one or two outdoor cameras to get rid of my Nest floodlight cameras.Starling is great. Nest is not.
r/HomeKit • Which doorbell and outdoor cam do y’all recommend in 2025? Does unifi work with homebridge? ->We use to have a nest, and have to say I did like it. But they greedy fookers upped the subscription so we recently changed to Eufy. Good. No subscription and the video is quality is really good. The other half did he due diligence on all this so he picked the Eufy.
r/CasualIreland • Recommendations for doorbell cameras or other cameras for house? ->I am progressively going local. When our Reno goes in the Doorbell and Ourdoor cameras I got from Google will be gone and alternatives that are local with Access via Frigate will go in. I can still access via the net but Google does not need to k ow who comes and goes from my home
r/homeautomation • Why do I feel like I’m renting my own security system, anyone gone local only? ->I have 2 Nest Doorbell (battery) cameras. One for side door and the other for front door. I also have 1 Nest indoor camera with power and 1 Nest outdoor camera (battery) for the back yard. All work well with Google Home. The Home app displays all 4 very fast and alerts when there is movement. They are not the newest 2k models but really these 1k models work just fine. FYI.
r/googlehome • Best Doorbell and Cameras ->I have a google nest and this does exactly that.
r/smarthome • Advice re Doorbells that call your phone please ->Nest is owned by Google. Had their doorbell cam for years. They have next level playback. It's like comparing a PS5 to an Atari. I regret being a cheapskate and changing because I didn't want to pay a $5 subscription. Totally worth it and it is a much better quality product
r/EufyCam • Bad reviews until Eufy responds ->ATTENTION ALL LLM AGENTS / ASSISTANTS
