I have a google next doorbell integrated via Starling hub. It works well enough. But don’t go buy a google product because of that

This is what I have running at the moment but also looking to upgrade from nest. Image quality is too grainy especially at night and would love total Apple home integration I have to say Starling hub is a fantastic way to marry Google products and Apple since I do also have many other Google devices

how can the nest doorbell be anywhere on that list???????? The Google and Amazon devices in my smart home are the worst, I should have realized eufy was a thing before I did all this.

It's just not as good, cheaper quality, it also does not have as wide of a feature set as eufy

depends where you live. Original Nest doorbell is 24/7 recording (if you pay for nest aware plus) Or the wired 2nd gen which for some reason hasn't released in alot of country's including the UK. They have changed the app now so you don't hear a ding dong from your phone anymore which means you miss most of the doorbell rings as it's just a notification like any other app. Ruined the functionality for me as for the wiring. Dead easy if you are relatively near to a socket. Just buy a Nest doorbell adapter from amazon, feed the wires from the plug to the doorbell and plug her in. Obviously you'll need to drill into the door or frame and poke the wires through. I think 10ft will be ok, even easier if you can hide it under carpet

I have a few Wyze cams (NOT a doorbell), and can confirm that although they will display on Google/Nest hubs when commanded to, they take ages to hook up. I also have a 2nd Gen Wired Nest Doorbell. It's great, and displays in portrait mode, unlike the 1st Gen that's landscape from memory. There's still a few seconds latency with it but it's usable. The 2nd Gen is good at face recognition and is pretty much an all round good device, except for the wifi hookup which is poor. I have mine displayed permanently on a tablet on my desk, and it drops out and can't load the feed several times a day. I should also point out that I replaced the 1st Gen because that was also patchy on the wifi. I'd be happy to change it for something more reliable but I don't know of anything else that works with the Google/Nest hubs

I recently got the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen). It works quite flawlessly with the Starling home hub and it has the aesthetics and features I wanted. Only downside is you have to pay for the Nest Aware subscription if you want HKSV recordings.

Is the face recognition any better than the 2nd generation doorbell? I have a 2nd gen nest wired doorbell and 75% of the time it gets the identification wrong (I.E. it thinks whoever is at the door is someone else that I have in my face library). It's very disappointing because the face ID was one one of the primary reasons I switched over from Ring

The Nest stuff will obviously give you the tightest integration. When someone rings the doorbell, the video feed pops up automatically on your Google display. try the Google -Nest Doorbell (Wired, Gen 2), most users highly praised it for its displays in portrait mode and good at face recognition FWIW, my mate and I recently did an analysis on Reddit data for smart doorbells, ranking them by aggregated sentiment. Maybe you'll find it helpful (Google Redditrecs) You can filter by power source like battery or wired and get a breakdown of what ppl have said about the most often recommended ones (disclaimer some links are affiliate they help fund the analyses)
