The Google Nest Hello doorbell does this, but the 5 - to 10-second delay on my phone is annoying.

1: Picture quality improvement is negligible because of the wider field of view. 2: I preferred the color saturations on the hello, in comparison to the 2k 3rd generation. 3: The video quality leaves a lot to be desired. They should’ve went with a 4K resolution sensor. 4: Colors seam washed out. My Nest Hello was mounted using the wedge. I opted not to use it on the 3rd generation. The image above is an overlay of the images from each doorbell.

Not to mention the notifications are lightning quick now! I went from an early Nest hello to this new 3rd gen 2k and it’s amazing.

For sure. But then I have no night vision at all. I came from the nest hello which had excellent IR and didn’t have the lights. I just prefer the standard IR is all.

The battery one can be wired, but it's so ugly. My Nest Hello wired died, Google RMAed it, but the RMA device won't pair, I'm currently stuck in limbo with Google support trying to get it resolved and now they've discontinued them! Should be interesting...

depends where you live. Original Nest doorbell is 24/7 recording (if you pay for nest aware plus) Or the wired 2nd gen which for some reason hasn't released in alot of country's including the UK. They have changed the app now so you don't hear a ding dong from your phone anymore which means you miss most of the doorbell rings as it's just a notification like any other app. Ruined the functionality for me as for the wiring. Dead easy if you are relatively near to a socket. Just buy a Nest doorbell adapter from amazon, feed the wires from the plug to the doorbell and plug her in. Obviously you'll need to drill into the door or frame and poke the wires through. I think 10ft will be ok, even easier if you can hide it under carpet

The alternative is getting the nest hello (the original doorbell) and setting it up on the nest app and never converting your nest account to a Google one. That would keep the ding songs as it were 😂

new camera will have (compared to 1st gen hello) * wider fov (166 vs 160) * higher resolution (2048x2048 vs 1600x1200) * and wider wedge in the box. * A ton of info/specs not known yet

I have a nest cam indoor IQ as well and it does not do zoomed in previews like the new nest doorbell 2k does (which I also have installed). I also had the prior nest doorbell which is what this new 2k version replaced. It also did not do zoomed in previews of the event.

Does this one offer the ability to zoom in and lock in recordings at that zoom level? The Nest Hello allows this.

Thanks. I sill have the nest Hello….and actually a backup hello still in the box, lol. My concern is for us the doorbell is on the right side wall of the house, at a 90 degree angle from the door. With the view being even wider on the 2K doorbell, I am concerned that my actual door would take up 30% or more of the frame.

I don't think the UK got the previous wired doorbell either. I replaced my old faulty Nest Hello with another Hello because I didn't want a battery one that I needed to recharge every week in winter

It’s not like it will stop working or anything soon. Go for it as if you’re waiting for the next update, you’ll be waiting…always. It’s on promo, so I would if I were in the market for one. I still have original hello with a newly installed battery. Battery lasted from 2018-2024.

I went from an older nest doorbell to G410. Like you, my experiences have been positive as well. I escaped nest right before they bumped up their prices so I am glad I am not paying $10 a month for always on recording. The chime works well for me. But I agree with you on the size. It’s much bigger than the older previous gen nest doorbell.

It depends on what you're looking for. I can't speak to BIFL, but I've had a Google Nest wired doorbell camera for a few years now. No subscription needed, and it saves events for a few hours. You can also adjust the "zone" in which it detects events, which I found helpful so I don't get alerts for when my neighbor across the way comes and goes.

Be wary. Many doorbells have monthly charges for video storage. I've setup a Google one in the fall (hardwired) works great. Though in cold cold winter days, the doorbell doesn't ring our physical house chime. But it still works nonetheless!

For the love of all things sane - keep your nest and get a starling hub which is plug and play into HomeKit. It just works and Nest still has the best quality and most reliable doorbell - the native HomeKit ones suck

I dislike how unclear this is. I have a Google Nest wired doorbell that is set up with the adapter on my analog chime so it rings it without a problem. I'm trying to get away from paying for a nest subscription, though - would the Reolibk wired doorbell play nice with the chime adapter that I have in place and ring my analog chime? Thanks!

I have had a Nest, now google hardwired doorbell camera for 8 years. It stopped working when we had a power failure for 5 hours when it was -30. It started working again when it warmed up in the Spring. I had tried a reset earlier but hadn't gotten around to buying a new one. This was at least 4 years ago. I do pay for monitoring. I have another camera in my garage and one in the house. It's handy when we are away.

Were you able to integrate this into google home system to use their speakers as a chime ? I've been back and forward with Reolink support currently with this wifi battery doorbell as there doesn't seem to be any way to turn off sound notifications being sent through to the nest speakers within the house  for motion/people/packages etc unless you disable all push notifications for those items full stop which defeats the purpose of a doorbell giving you notifications when someone approaches.  The google doorbell works well by ringing when pressed and simply sending silent notifications to my phone if the postman walks to the front and just drops off a package without ringing the doorbell. This reolink doorbell however is currently just sending constant sound notifications for every motion.  I've even tried making all notifications " silent " which still doesn't help the situation.

If I uncheck everything except visitor then when someone approaches the doorbell but doesn't press the button, the camera won't send me a push alert. Google does it well where it sends me the notification, but doesn't play a chime in the house. The only time it plays a chime is when someone actually pushed the doorbell. Reolink however is chiming on all alerts through the google hub. The only way as you mentioned is to turn off everything bar visitor in push schedule, but I want to get alerts when someone comes to the front door but doesn't press the doorbell.

Google would be a better choice IMO, I just sold my Google doorbell for the newest Eufy model and I semi regret it. Google you just place outside and the thing is amazing, the AI is great and I've never had any issues. The eufy... Omg the lighting has to be right or the sensitivity has to be right otherwise it'll miss picking people up and it takes a damn near 2 minutes before it realizes there is a package and then another 2 minutes to tell you it's gone. Although on the contrary when it does work good it works good but there is just to many variables you gotta play around with when Google you just set it and forget it. Just my 2 cents

Yeah I guess every company has their issues. I think the Google doorbell spoiled me because I never had to mess with it once I put it out, I've been messing with the eufy since I bought it. But you're right, I have other issues with my other Google cameras not working sometimes it kinda sucks nothing can just work flawlessly

I can tell you from experience that a bright white google doorbell on C against a brick background, despite how visible and contrasting it is, still results in everyone knocking. I would go A and get a wide angle one

Often people complain due to not knowing how to set it up properly. Detections along with recognition (for those using ai) are all great and acceptable. Definitely more than $300 when taking into consideration the ethernet drop, the ai port and more but I've owned 3 other doorbells (Anker, google and ring) and the UI variant although is more expensive, it does work better than any of those 3.

I have a Nest video doorbell. It does what you want, no subscription needed. The only thing is the history only goes back about 12 hours. Blink is another option. With it I think you have the option of either cloud storage (for a small monthly fee) or local storage (extra equipment required). But just out of the box, it does what you're wanting.

We wanted to do the exact same thing when we bought our house, wired in a nest doorbell cam and 2 floodlight cameras front and back. They are absolute garbage. I don't pay for the subscription. Notifications, if they come, are usually slow. If they are actually on time, important for a doorbell, when you try and open the camera app to see who is there it gets stuck for 15 seconds to 1 minute, making it absolutely worthless if there is someone waiting at your door. Recordings are garbage quality, usually start half way between when you would want to see an event and only stay available for ~4 hours. There is no good way to download the clips to your phone, I took a screen recording last time I needed to save one. Cameras constantly flicker and disconnect if you're live viewing them. Usually takes several tries to open the home app and refresh it to even get them going in the first place. 2 of them have completely broken to the point I had to dismount them and hard reset in the 3 years we've had them. Just do yourself a favor and stay away, I am going to switch all of mine to probably eufy or reolink once I set up my NAS.

Now adays there's a lot of better options, you'll get the ability to view them live, but motion recording comes at the price of a monthly subscription from some models. (I know some have limited built in recording), and you get notifications about everything you'd expect but it's expensive for no reason considering there's options that are cheaper with no monthly subscription like Reolink. You'll also get the same abilities like viewing them live from your google devices with a 3rd party camera as well, it isn't specific to google doorbells. I've had Google and Nest brand doorbells for years and have had nothing but problems from price increases, incorrect notifications, to my last straw going offline at random times without sending me a notification about it. This is unacceptable for a semi-security device.

Just don’t! I have a ton of respect for many Aqara products, I have two homes equipped with about 100 various Aqara devices, I tried the doorbell too but I was very disappointed. If you want a doorbell, go to Ring. They are the best. Second I’d say The Google one, it was not too bad but it’s huge.

The Google / Nest Doorbell / Camera works very well; I've had one for years. With regard to that device, Google / Nest cameras and your hub(s), make sure that you have good WiFi throughout the home. Many issues with Google Home devices are related to spotty WiFi. I use a Google router/Mesh System; it works very well. I understand from friends that the eero router/Mesh also works well. I have smart switches, dimmers, and window shades too, all is well. Make sure to buy the latest device versions, and don't use battery-operated ones if you can avoid it. Have fun and good luck!
