Just put in a Tapo D225. Love it. 24/7 recording. Ton of controls/settings in the app. Saves video to a microSD card in the unit (extra purchase). You can pay for a subscription for cloud storage but it’s really not needed. Video quality is great - even at night. Came with its own chime (have to bypass existing chime for 24/7 recording feature).
tapo d225 is both wireless or 24/7 recording if wired, connected to your existing doorbell (8~24Vac, check your existing doorbell transformer output), even the push-in notification is distintive
…by distinctive, it means you will receive a “telephone type” announcement, instead of the traditional push notification message
The tapo d225 (maybe the same with d235) won’t chime the mechanical section, only bypass the ac transformer for powering, and will record 24/7
Yes, if recording 24/7 you will disable the mechanical section (bypass)
I have a Tapo and it does everything OP wants with no subscription. Model D225.
It does when I link the Tapo account to my Google Home. But the notifications through Google home are "All or Nothing" kind which I didn't like and still did not have the option to display video on the hub. Only sound notifications.
TP Link Tapo D225 my man. Stellar even on wifi and I had a garbage Simplysafe doorbell cam for my last one.... That was absolute garbage. Also if you want to stay with ReoLink, they have a PoE version.. Just go to amazon and search for ReoLink POE Camera (there is no model #) It's $109 currently.
I have to do the same. On the D225 you CAN just wire it up without bypassing, however you still can't use always on recording or ONVIF features/etc until it's bypassed.
Okay I see now what you mean. My Tapo D225, still records even when watching live after clicking on a notification. So this one should do what you want.
Tapo D225, that's what I use
I have a Tapo D225, which integrates well with Alexa.
I use the Tapo D225. Mind you I have mine hardwired, but needed the battery backup, due to power outages. I have tried the Reolink doorbell before, but at that time, the Alexa integration wasn't as good as the Tapo one, so I returned the Reolink. Obviously having the Tapo hardwired, it's in always on mode, so loading the live view and recordings is pretty snappy. But I would assume, running it on battery alone, shouldn't take 45 seconds to load the live view.
