I had two Logitechs, bought in 2022. One died in 2023 and Logitech sent me a replacement that was refurbished. This year both Logitech units started to have the glass face delaminate and both units overheated to the point where they would not come back online. Even when the Logitech units were working, they were slow to load video and late to notify on motion events and doorbell presses. I have no experience with the Wemo product but I cannot recommend the Logitech units. I replaced the Logitech units with the Aqara G410 doorbell and the Aqara has been great.

I’ve got the Logitech Circle View doorbell cam, and initially it had a few hiccup in going offline. It hasn’t happened in over a year. I also have had the Schlage Encode Plus which worked well with HK, but I didn’t like the styles. I currently have the Yale Assure Plus and love its design. It has worked flawlessly with zero hiccups for the last year. I also have a Level bolt in my garage man door and since it works with Matter now, it has been bulletproof.

Big fan of the Logitech Circle View Doorbell. I switched from Ring about a year or so ago when they came out and just told their user base that they were going to just start charging people to record video. Made the move to Logitech, solely because it uses iCloud to store your video. IMO, if you’re an iCloud user (if you have an iPhone, you really should be) you’re just going to utilize the space you already pay for. Since then, I’ve been very happy with it. It works as expected. Does what it should. It doesn’t require any additional membership/subscription.

I loved my Logitech. It was really good. Overheating in summer became a real issue and eventually led to its death I think. I live in Virginia and house faces east. It would still cook in the sun before noon and go offline for a couple of hours. Would usually reset itself. Then after a while I would have to go reset it. Then one day I couldn’t reset it… I’d still recommend it if you’re not in a warm climate with direct sunlight to the doorbell

Innovelli White Series has been rock solid for me if you want to move to Matter and Thread. https://inovelli.com/collections/inovelli-white-series Eve Door & Window sensors (and smart plugs) haven't had a problem other than having to switch all the batteries every 2 years. https://www.evehome.com/en/eve-door-window Ratgdo for the garage door works without even thinking about it. Forgot to include it in this list initially https://ratcloud.llc/ The less than perfect items are: - Logitech Circle View Doorbell: overheats during the summer in direct sunlight - Schlage Encode Plus: Seems to drop off the thread network every 6 months Why not use the UI doorbell since you already have UI cameras?

I have a battery powered Ring and a hardwired Logitech Doorbell. I can get a notification, open the app and speak to the person on Ring before I ever get the initial notification from Logitech/Homekit. I keep Logitech just for the additional camera angle. Hi, I noticed you said you installed a Logictech Circle Video Doorbell a few months ago and I am seeing lots of back and forth on whether it is any good or not. I bought a Logitech Circle Video doorbell and am hoping to at least give it a try. First thing I noticed when I hooked it up via USB cable to do the basic setup, the firmware is out of date and that it keeps dropping in and out of the network. So I thought I would try removing from Apple Home Kit and let it sit overnight to see if the firmware gets updated. Did you have any issues with the firmware on yours? Are you experiencing any problems with the device overall? Thanks! Take care... Bruce

Our Logitech is trash. Disconnects every week and stays disconnected for months on end and nothing we do gets it to reconnect. We thought maybe we had a dud and bought another and same problem. The doorbell doesn't even work. It's ridiculous. You ask logitech for support and they tell you to contact apple. You go to apple and they tell you to go to logitech. It's not worth it.

If they MUST be native, For doorbells, there's the Aqara G410 and Logitech circle. Aqara works with battery or hardwired, no physical/legacy chime support. Logitech is older and has some quirks but is the only native option that can ring your home's old physical chime. Also I like how it looks better than Aqara. For locks, IMO this is easy. Schlage Encode Plus is the best all-around choice for native Apple Home integration. 12 months of battery life on thread, homekey support, robust hardware. I've had a lot of smart locks and it's by far the best I've had. For cameras, really no awesome options for native - IMO the best camera systems are ones like Ubiquiti or Amcrest or Reolink where you have a physical NVR recording 24x7 and POE runs to each camera. With homekit native solutions you're gonna have to hardwire power\*, but still deal with wifi and you do not get 24x7 recording, only motion events. If you're gonna be spending some money anyway, I'd say go with Ubiquiti and spend a little on a mini PC to run Scrypted on it, which will proxy your Ubiquiti cameras into homekit and they'll work just like native cameras on your home app - except you also get POE connection, 24x7 recording, local storage, etc. \* Technically there are some battery powered options but they're not great.

Seconded - I really like mine as well. However, if you live in a warm climate and it’s mounted east/west you’ll most likely face disconnection issues due to overheating. My old front door faced east and every morning between 9-10 it would shutoff.

Logi Doorbell supports up to 24V! When you say traditional, do you mean the mechanical chime? If yes, that’s what I have too. And yes, HomePods can be enabled as your chimes and Siri can announce names saved on your Photos libraries, using yours and others in your home (when recognized). You can even disable the mechanical chime if you want in the Home app settings. Here, use Logitech’s compatibility checker. https://setup.circleviewdoorbell.logi.com

Pretty typical HomeKit doorbell experience. No package detection, but it’s got motion detection, facial recognition, a night light, etc. It’s been known to overheat if it’s in direct sunlight for long periods of time, but I only had that probably once or twice. It’s also wired only, so if you need a battery option, this isn’t for you. Although my house wasn’t wired and I was able to get power to the doorbell using a [24V transformer](https://a.co/d/4D2VNE4) I bought separately.

I have two level bolts for the garage doors, but prefer the Schlage Encode Plus for the front door because of the HomeKey support. One thing to consider with the cameras is that HKSV doesn’t record 24/7 and won’t record without Internet access. I have some HKSV cameras, Circleview doorbell, but went with UniFi for my outdoor cameras and network. The video can still get to HomeKit via Homebridge et al, but you can have 24/7 storage on-site. I went Philips Hue for every bulb in the house. It mostly works, the RunLessWire switches aren’t the most reliable and I’ll probably swap some of them out for other smart switches.

I’ve got a Logitech and I’ve been happy with it. I just wish it had typical night sight instead of 3 LED lights showing at night. It looks kinda odd having these bright lights on my porch. Otherwise I’ve been happy with it. I tried the Wemo but I hated the view. They made the fisheye extreme and it looks like a funhouse mirror every time someone comes to the door. They did it to technically get a bigger picture, but it wasn’t working for me. Plus it sticks out significantly more from the wall. So, between the two, I’d go with Logitech.

Alarm is Honeywell/Resideo ProA7. Activate it with a one month plan from alarmgrid.com and then you can control it offline via HomeKit or online via HomeKit or the TC2.0 app. Cameras are Hikvision + Blue Iris NVR. Blinds & lights are Lutron Caseta. Garage opener is an original Chamberlain MyQ unit. Doorbell is a Logitech Circle (garbage) but soon to be replaced by a Netatmo.

I have both an Aqara G4 and a Logitech Circle Doorbell. The overall functionality of the two is the same but the Aqara is significantly cheaper. Cost aside, I actually prefer the Aqara \*because\* of the chime-repeater. The chimekit of my Logitech Circle doorbell shorted out so I'm probably going to need to get something like a Homepod Mini so I can actually hear when someone rings the doorbell (I just get a pop-up notification now)

Logitech Circle View Doorbell has worked for us pretty well for about three years now. We do have issues with it cutting the camera feed during the summer months due to heat issues, but it has been flawless otherwise. I do like how it's glass on the front as well, which has allowed it to avoid the dreaded "peeling" issue that plagues many other doorbells, like our old Nest Doorbell that basically had the plastic on the front warp & peel off over time. Anyhow, the Logitech one has never disconnected on us. If your doorbell isn't going to be in the shade, you might want to reconsider given the overheating issues. For us, it only cuts the feed during the summertime around 5PM to 6PM-ish, when the sun's position in the sky gives it a direct shot at the doorbell despite it being under a roof. Ambient temperatures don't seem to matter as much as direct sunlight does. Other features concerning recording, recognition, storage, etc., are all standardized via HomeKit Secure Video. It'll be limited compared to a something like Nest, but you'll be paying less since HomeKit SV can be had as part the Apple One family bundle. In this way, HSV is more of a perk you get rather than the main attraction.

I like Logitech Circle Doorbell. No third party app. Only direct with HomeKit. It will update firmware directly from HomeKit. Love it. I’ve had mine for almost two years and it’s pretty amazing! I also have indoor Logitech Circle View cameras and they’re great too! Also directly in HomeKit (and has firmware updates done via HomeKit). No third party app. The downside for indoor camera is the camera can’t reach the WiFi far… it sucked. But once I added mesh network in my home it’s been awesome! It’s also flexible when mounting to wall or ceiling. Can be upside down and such. That was a big win. I didn’t like Aqara doorbell because the finish feels cheap and requires third party app. The camera is horizontal. It looks grainy to me. Logitech doorbell is vertical view so you get the view from the floor to balcony ceiling. It’s amazing especially when you get a lot of packages you need to keep an eye on.

I had an issue with mine at first with going offline repeatedly like two days a week. I even confirmed it wasn’t temperature related as I can confirm it wasn’t shutting down or anything. Once I added mesh network and the 2nd router is much closer to the doorbell - it never went offline again for over a year already. The random shutdown thing is common, yes. Because of the temperature issue which makes sense. But what you explained doesn’t sound like shutting down issue or temperature issue. Sounds like a network issue. Your issue is different than others that you read up about. I don’t see people bringing up the issue about network inconsistency. Just overheating issue. I still bought it anyways because I’m in well shaded area so I knew the temperature wasn’t going to be a problem.

I have an Aqara G4 running on batteries and a logitech circle view doorbell, both in homekit. The logitech’s tall aspect ratio so i can see my steps and packages is desirable but the “night vision” is a bright light on the front of the unit. At first this bugged me cause it looks weird from the road in my initial opinion but i’ve got over it and really like it because of its reliability. It’s picky about the available power. there was ring installed before and i had to upgrade my transformer so this camera would be reliable. it has been solid since. The aqara’s battery life while cold is not great but night vision is actual night vision but i think events are missed because the contrast in real night vision isn’t great. It misses the tall aspect ratio but where it’s mounted the wide aspect ratio is actually a benefit. also when the batteries die you don’t get notified in homekit. i think it’s because the status is based on if the doorchime is plugged in or not. when the batteries die the video feed just spiny wheel loads forever. All considering it’s battery powered i am happy with it. Hope it gives some helpful experience and context. AMA

This has been my exact experience with the Logitech Circleview doorbell. Before I installed it I updated my transformer because I had trouble with an earlier smart doorbell thought to be due to a 30 year old underpowered transformer. I have been very happy with its functionality. Over a period of 2 years I’ve had to power cycle it 3 or 4 times because the interior chime quit working. A very minor annoyance.

Another upvote for the Logitech Circle View. Have had one at my front door for four years with virtually no issues (I had some early problems where it occasionally disconnected every few weeks, but it’s been unfailingly reliable for well over two years, so I figure those was some bugs that got fixed in firmware updates). For me, one of the best parts is that it’s 100% HomeKit. There are no other apps to fuss with and the video stream goes nowhere else except iCloud. That differs from most other cameras which have their own cloud recording services that you have to turn off or block if you want to use HKSV exclusively. I have Eufys for my other outdoor cameras and the only way to prevent them from sending video to Anker’s servers is to block them at the router.

This is the answer. The other solutions require a fair bit of tinkering, which is lots of fun if you’re into that, but the Logitech just works. I also like the fact that it’s ONLY HomeKit. Your video doesn’t get streamed to any other services, and there isn’t even a Logitech app to configure it, so it’s one of the most private solutions available.

I struggled with HKSV for years. Tried a bunch of cameras. I eventually gave up on HKSV and standardized on all all Eufy, but did not enable HomeKit on any of them. I have great wireless connectivity in a small (890 square foot) apartment. Outside of Apple Home the cameras load instantly and I never miss an event. I love everything else about the Home app just gave up on the cameras. I had a Circle View camera, the doorbell one and the regular round one. Both would overheat in direct sun. I installed the logitech circle view because it reused the mechanical chime. You do need to make sure your bell transformer is up to snuff though. The wiring for the chime kit is relatively straight forward as well but it IS possible to short it out and break it easily if you leave some wires bare. I also have this issue where the chimekit stops ringing the mechanical doorbell after a few months. kinda annoying but simply removing the camera from the base and re-seating it will fix it. overall, after ~2-3 years of ownership, i've been satisfied with it.

I use a Reolink WiFi doorbell and send the feed through Scrypted. It’s been a way better experience than the Logitech Circle I tried before that. The Circle would constantly disconnect, maybe overheating, or just other hardware problems.

The Logitech Circle View Doorbell is great if you have any sort of entry way cover or awning over the door that can shield it from direct sunlight. I live in Alabama and do not have any of the overheating issues others describe. It is seemingly caused by direct sunlight. Additionally, I replaced the low voltage transformer to a 24V unit before doing the install. Sometimes a shoddy transformer causes flakiness with any smart doorbell wired over traditional low voltage wiring. Finally, proximity to wireless access point makes a big difference. The Circle View camera and doorbell that are generally in shade and close to one of my wireless APs, are incredibly reliable. The camera that takes more direct sun and has the longest, more occluded path to the APs is not reliable. I’d get the Logitech if your door location has an awning or other cover and the WiFi signal is not dodgy at the installation site.

I've got the Logitech Circle View doorbell, which I bought because it claimed to integrate well with HomeKit and used HomeKit Secure Video. The first two months were a nightmare. Constant disconnects, "camera not responding" errors, etc, that required me to cut power to the camera to reset it. The thing would disconnect at least 2 or 3 times a week. The only saving grace is that even when the camera was disconnected, someone ringing the doorbell would still notify all phones and HomePod Minis and ring the hardwired doorbell chime. After futzing around with various settings in my router (a TP-Link Deco 3-node mesh system) I finally got to a configuration that works. I had to do the following things: \- Assign a static IP address to the doorbell \- Pin it to a specific node on the mesh network \- Pin it to the 2.4 GHz band \- Disable beam forming on the routers These are all settings on my router, not on the doorbell. If you have a different router, YMMV. Since taking those steps, the doorbell has been rock solid. No disconnects in over a month. And the audio and video quality from the doorbell is outstanding. Now my only problem is that HomeKit package detection has about 80% false positives, so the notifications aren't that useful. But everything else works brilliantly. I'm not wild about having to disable beam forming, but that seemed to be causing issues for some of my older Apple devices anyway.

ecobee, and Netatmo, are indeed HomeKit doorbells that do not support HKSV. It’s been over a year since I switched from the Netatmo to the Logitech, but I *think* it did appear on my Apple TV. Apologies for not having a clearer memory. ETA: here is a video review of the Netatmo which shows Apple TV support: https://youtu.be/ZPA1FgW95rg So my takeaway is that any HomeKit compatible doorbell, even without HKSV, will work with the Apple TV.

A bit simplistic, but my approach to this is that the Apple Home app is my primary app. I’m not getting a smart home product that can’t be integrated with it. The Logitech doorbell works great for me, along with my eufy outdoor battery cams. HKSV is important to me. And the Apple Home app is my single destination to view them. If that’s not the case for you, and you don’t care if it is, then stick with your eufy ecosystem.

If you live in a hot climate, and your door is south facing, the Logitech likely won’t work well for you as it will likely overheat. However, if you don’t live in that situation, I’ve been very happy with mine. Portrait orientation, works with my existing chime (the G4 does not), looks nice (I find the G4 chunky looking) and has decent video.

This is the one I'm looking to replace. I have the wired version, and it is 10-12 feet away from my router, and it disconnects way too frequently to be reliable. Same for the the two non-doorbell wired outdoor Circles I have. They'll be connected for two months, and then randomly disconnect, or they'll connect for 5 minutes and disconnect--who knows--and reconnecting them is a crapshoot. It seems to be some kind of issue re: 2.4 and 5Ghz and HomeKit, but I have tried so many setups and none of them is a permanent solve for these cameras.

I love my Logitech too. The response in HomeKit is amazing compared to my Eufy cameras. It loads the preview basically as soon as the app is opened and the Eufys take 20-30 seconds. My only complaint about the Logitech is that I can’t use the motion sensor to trigger the porch lights because the camera seems to always detect motion. Now I just leave the porch lights on at night anyway because it helps the camera image at night so much.

Congrats on the new house; please invest in your house network system. A robust WiFi will go a long way with HomeKit. Here is my setup for ideas: Abode Iota Gateway with: * 18 Mini window/door contact sensor * 3 Glass break sensor * 2 Keypads * 4 Multi Sensors (Occupancy, Temp, and Lux sensors) * 1 Motion Sensors * 1 Smoke Detector Listener * Built-in Camera Overall: Works solid in HomeKit; all accessories are exposed into HomeKit. They have a water leak sensor (also can be exposed into HomeKit) but are pricey, so I went with Aqara for that function. The Camera is exposed into HomeKit but is not HKSV. Lutron Caseta: * 31 Light Switches (vary from old style to new Diva style paddle switches) * 8 Fan Controllers * 4 Claro for the Exhaust fans in the bathrooms Overall: These are the gold standard of light switches and how HomeKit devices should work in HomeKit! I do have one light switch I haven’t converted buts it the attic portion of the garage; I will probably change once I’m done being lazy. Logitech Circle View Doorbell: I love mine it has been pretty solid since May of last year, only 2 times I didn't get instant video feeds. I believe one of them was a power issue. I was flipping breaker switches on/off, and the other time, I was not sure if it was the cold, but I had to unplug and replug, and it worked. I do have a Unifi G4 Pro Doorbell to replace so I can record 24/7 to my NVR. That is the only knock is no 24/7 recording. (Also upgrade your transformer to the max 24V 40VAC) Ecobee Premium Thermostat: Another gold standard of HomeKit devices. I have 3 of the room sensors that are also exposed to HomeKit. Locks: Schlage Encode Plus: Gives you looks, Schlage peace of mind for security, and HomeKey. I wish they had added a fingerprint reader; I would have paid extra for it. Connects with Thread and is fast and seamless. Level Bolts: I have two for my secondary doors and they have the updated matter firmware with Thread enabled. These are wicked fast now. Smoke Detectors: * 6 Safe and Sound First Alert * 4 Onelink Smoke/CO Detectors hardwire Overall: The Safe and Sound are solid and have no issues; I love I can have whole house audio as they function as a decent AirPlay 2 speaker. The Onelink, on the other hand, gave me hell the first couple of months. After several cleanings and air spraying, I think I solved the random false alarms. It's been over 6 months, and no issues......knock on wood. iSmartGate Pro: I have a 3-car garage with 2 doors; this can support up to 3 doors. I chose the iSmartgate because I wanted to use hardwire door sensors and not the wireless ones (I had issues with MyQ), and I wanted to hardwire the device into my network as this controls my garage, a vital security point that I want a reliable connection. This has been solid for the most part only one time I had an issue when I had to reboot it. Cameras: * Unifi G4 Pro (4k) x3 * Unifi G4 Dome (2k) x2 * Unifi Network Video Recorder 4x 6 Gigs Hard Drives installed Overall: I am using HomeBridge to expose these cameras to HomeKit. I am able to maintain the current resolution with 24/7 recording. HomeBridge transcodes my video feeds into HomeKit standards and I also get HKSV along with all the extra features. I do have the G4 Doorbell Pro but I need to run the POE/USB-C adapted so it can be hardwired into the network. All cameras are hardwired and powered over ethernet (POE). If you are already in the Unifi network ecosystem it only makes sense to use their cameras. TVs: * TCL QM8 75inch *Hisense U6 65inch * Vizio E55 55inch Overall: All show up in HomeKit with no issues, and both have limited controls as far as turning on and changing inputs. Eve Smart Plugs: These things are solid. I have 2 of the newer Thread and 3 of the old-school Bluetooth. In the Eve app, I get cost and wattage breakdown, which is nice. I have been downsizing to switch to the Eve wall outlet. So I only have two up and going. Eve wall outlet: I own two of these one in the family room mainly for Christmas tree duties (that outlet doesn’t get used at all) and the other in the Foyer area where I have some flower bulb lights in a vase that I like to turn on every now and then. Eve door sensor: I have the new thread version but HomeKit only I found for cheap and use that on my attic drop down door. It’s fast, as soon as I pull the door down m fees lights already on and turns off once I close it which is super convenient. Eve Weather Station: new thread version but not Matter version. Gives me temp, humidity, and barometric pressure. RainMachine Pro: I love mine. Its solid; no issues. I can hardwire with ethernet. The only downside is there are no more available and the company seems to be on life support. Aqara M3 Hub: I have been waiting to get aboard the Aqara train and I knew my patience would be rewarded. This is POE so just one wire to power and connect to my network. It has an IR blaster. I can now turn my fireplace on but saying Siri fireplace on. Plus it’s matter as well. Aqara Water leak sensors: I have 11 installed with 2 more I need to place for my dishwasher and my refrigerator. I have under all my sinks, my washer machine, my water heaters, and my HVAC secondary drain pan. Aqara Temp and humidity sensors: I have 5 of these one being the TVOC which gives me air quality as well. Mainly bathrooms, garage and attic. Presence Sensors: Aqara FP2 sensor: I have a total of 3 but only one up and running. It is WiFi and so far it’s been solid. I just need to move to a better location in the kitchen and it seems it’s better to have it lower as opposed to higher. Athom Presence Sensor: these are super cheap I believe 30 bucks but very limited. Great for smaller spaces like my laundry room. I will reposition as I think lower is better for all presence sensors. GE Cync under cabinet lights: I have 3 GE Cync under cabinet lights 24 in version that I have recently install but plan on get some of the puck version to place up top to give ambient lighting at top. These are matter and I am torn on these. The lights themselves are great and look vibrant. The issue I have is I can’t use the Cync app simultaneously with HomeKit. It’s one or the other and the plan was to pair a GE Cync wireless dimmer switch and pair it in the Cync app to have that manual control. Right now I have a FP2 Presence sensor to turn on when in the kitchen. I haven’t seen if firmware will be updated in the Home app.

I've used both. **Positives for the Logitech:** \- Portrait field of view, great for a doorbell. \- has a lux sensor exposed to homekit **Negatives for logitech:** \- 5ghz is basically a waste (in my case), great idea, but being connected to a brick wall meant it always went to 2.5ghz, even though the physical location of the wifi was about 2.5m away. the only way I could see this as being usable is if I had an outdoor AP. \- video feed would time out after 20-40 seconds. (maybe due to the above) \- the motion sensor is done via pixels, so pretty much always false positives of motion just with a leaf blowing past etc \- zero integrations **Positives for aqara:** \- Can run on batteries (though I wouldn't recommend) \- the chime is somewhat of a "bridge" devices that connects to the wifi, and the actual doorbell part, meaning you have more flexibility for positioning the wifi chime for better comms \- better motion detection \- better heat resilience. \- ability to use in other ecosystems, aqara app etc, (im not using any of this just a pure homkeit pairing) **Negatives for aqara:** \- Wide field of view - this could be a positive if you don't have other security cameras in the area (you get used to it, but I do miss the portrait on the circle view) \- would've been awesome to also hardwire the chime to the doorbell to eliminate the dependancy on that "wireless" jump \_\_\_ final verdict, ***zero*** regrets moving to the Aqara g4.

I’m an Apple One subscriber for a lot of reasons one of which is unlimited HKSV video recording. I got a Logitech Circle View from FB Marketplace for $50 and really love it even when I was comparing to other products in its class. I’m fairly handy but I can understand installation might be daunting with having to check compatibility with the house chime and whatnot. One thing to consider is the orientation of the video feed: Aqara (also good product) afaik has a horizontal video feed while the Logitech Circle View has a fairly wide angle but vertical video feed. I preferred the vertical for my specific porch use case.

Hello all, recently and frequently I’ve been having issues with my doorbell, camera and smart lock, logitech circle doorbell, aqura u 100, respectively. My Logitech goes unresponsive frequently and most of the time it takes too long to load up when I want to see what’s live. My aqua smart lock occasionally doesn’t respond using the fingerprint scanner, when this happens it does work when I use the passcode or home key, until I take the batteries out and put them back in, then everything works fine until I have to go through this cycle again. As for my upgrades, I was thinking of Aqara U 200, and maybe the Aqara G4 unless the g410 actually drops soon. Is the U200 any better than the u100, in things like speed of unlock and connectivity? And would anyone who has tried both the Logitech circle view doorbell, and the aqua G4 doorbell recommend the G4 over the circle? Thanks for reading, and thanks for any help.

I have the Logitech and it works great with one exception. I have it connected with their adapter to my existing electro-mechanical chime. Every two months or so it stops working, but the doorbell sound function still comes through the HomePod mini on my desk and I get the notifications. I have to go turn the breaker off to reset it and then it works fine for a few months. I'm going to put a smart switch on that circuit and set it to switch off and on for an hour after midnight once a month or so which should cure that. Aside from that, it is the best of the lot.
