Netatmo has been very reliable and local hosting is a nice one. Plus it can be powered by the existing transformer going to the original doorbell, keeping your current bell (NL setup).

Netatmo Doorbell hooks up to an existing chime if it is compatible. It has a camera but you can turn it off if you really want to. I like their range of products because they charge no monthly fee and you don't have to use their software if you don't want to (also uploads to Dropbox or your own FTP). It has a do not disturb mode you can turn on and off on your phone.

Same here, had the Netatmo doorbell as a beta tester for over a year. Mine never gets direct sun, it has been rock solid for over a year and a half.

It has to do with having the hardware ability to support HKSV. Netatmo had said their doorbell would eventually get HKSV support, and then said it couldn’t due to hardware limitations.

ecobee, and Netatmo, are indeed HomeKit doorbells that do not support HKSV. It’s been over a year since I switched from the Netatmo to the Logitech, but I *think* it did appear on my Apple TV. Apologies for not having a clearer memory. ETA: here is a video review of the Netatmo which shows Apple TV support: https://youtu.be/ZPA1FgW95rg So my takeaway is that any HomeKit compatible doorbell, even without HKSV, will work with the Apple TV.

We bought Simplisafe before we became Apple and HomeKit users. It doesn’t fully integrate with HomeKit but it does work with our 3 Yale keyless locks. We moved it to a new house and no longer have any cameras since the HOA has severe limitations on visible cameras, plus we have eaves that are 15 foot off the ground and no attic access our previous house we used Arlo mounted on wood siding. Now we have stucco. We did swap our 18VDC doorbell for a Neatmo. I wound not ever entertain the idea of using anything like Ring or Ecobee cloud based security. Far too invasive and Ecobee actually phones home all your hvac data, any smart switche data etc if you use its Alexa skill. I like keeping some things distinctly isolated. We have sensors for water leaks, smoke, CO, etc that are through simplisafe and can be seen on phones remotely. The smoke detector that a builder puts in is a dumb device that simply makes noise - if my home is on fire I’d like to know this when I’m not home. We also installed a Moen Flo that shuts off water if it detects abnormal use (during the drought and draconian Newsome implemented restrictions in California there were actual water thieves who would fill water tanks from people’s yards. Locking up the hose wasn’t effective - they brought their own.)Any alert goes to the app on our phones, as does the Meross leak detectors in our garage under the washer, refrigerator, utility sink and water heater. I’ve never found it necessary to combine all this into HomeKit or use a platform like Home Assistant. Good notifications on our phones work for us. We travel a lot in the summer, we are in a retirement community, there is virtually no crime other than people not cleaning up after their dog or parking overnight on the street - so we have no need of serious robust security. A combo of door and window switches, motion detectors and glass break sensors are all installed by the user in the home. Simplisafe monitoring is very reasonably priced. My only annoyance is the package detection on the Neatmo camera. It seems Amazon loves to hide stuff out of view. But that’s not a HomeKit issue, mits a delivery issue.
