Just go with the new ring doorbell plus wired 2nd gen unless you really need that 3 d motion detection and 4 k retinal video from the new ring doorbell pro wired 3rd gen up to you or buy the ring doorbell elite

Had the same issues with my Gen 1 - upgraded to the newer model and moved my router closer, now it's solid. The old ones were pretty trash tbh

Same here, and I can see my full driveway, yard, front porch with the old Gen 2 and I don't use a machanical bell and no need for head to toe as I already see pretty much everything with my Gen 2. I use my Amazon Echo devices for Ring notifications/speaker.

That's sort of my problem with the ring gen 2 I currently have. So mind numbingly slow to connect to a live event. But thank you for your input

The ring wire doorbell is under 2 in. I only know this cuz I also had a tight spot where others wouldn't fit. Want to say it's like 1.75. You might have to trim a little bit of that trim there, but it'll use the existing wiring you won't have to update batteries or anything. I don't know if ring is on your list or not. Various people have issues with various companies, and some of them are valid. But physically it looks like it would fit.

Two wired version Ring doorbell/cameras for my front door and den (front facing) door and a battery flood/camera at the backyard. Have to change the backyard battery about every 90 days. I love them!

If you use a Ring be aware that you need the model that runs on power. I had a battery model that was connected to power to charge the battery. The battery often was drained and I needed to remove it and recharge outside the doorbell. Use the powered model without the battery to feed from the old 24vac feed.

I have no idea if it’s the best or even close, but I have a hard-wired Ring doorbell that does a very clear picture through the app with no subscription.
