Personally I’ve gone with the Plus to replace my original Pro, I don’t think the higher resolution and audio is worth the price difference.

I’ve ordered one, sick of my original Pro going off with rain frequently, especially during the night. I went with the new 2K Plus, can’t see its worth paying the difference between that and the Pro for higher resolution and clearer audio*. It’s coming tomorrow. I’m hoping it won’t be necessary to drill new holes in the brickwork, but I can’t see any information either way. *Edit: it would be worth it for PoE, something I can’t easily do with the location of my fibre and router.

Just go with the new ring doorbell plus wired 2nd gen unless you really need that 3 d motion detection and 4 k retinal video from the new ring doorbell pro wired 3rd gen up to you or buy the ring doorbell elite

For the simplest possible option: Ring Wired Plus for the doorbell + Amazon Echo 8 or Echo 11 for the doorbell screens (Avoid all cheaper doorbells with batteries if you can. They are unreliable.) You can have as many screens as you want. Once through initial up… it’s set and forget it.

I have a 2nd GEN in that bronze sorta colour. I do like the video doorbell however the bronze colour with the elements has gone to shit for lack of a batter word. I've been looking at replacing my ring with either a TAPO or Eufy. I want something that I don't need to pay a subscription for just to view past footage.

Looks like you don’t actually need 24/7 recording. What you really want is for the recording to start right when motion happens. With battery-operated cameras, there’s always a delay between when the PIR motion sensor detects movement and when the camera actually begins recording. Ring cameras that don’t rely on PIR sensors are your choice. They detect motion using the camera itself. The camera is always watching and recording to a local buffer. Once it confirms motion, it uploads the clip. The motion clip starts about 3–4 seconds before the actual movement. Since the camera is always active, these models must be wired-only.
