I had the older Ring Pro wired. Technically I think you are right. The G4 Pro is 2MP 1600 x 1200, the old Ring Pro is HD 1920 x 1080, and the Ring current Pro they state as 1536p, which I guess is 3MP 2048 x 1536? I really can't tell the video difference between the G4 Pro and Ring Pro - they both seem good to me.
We have the wired video doorbell pro 2. Has the best picture quality of all our ring devices. But- We also have the mesh eero wifi system because of all our smart devices and layout of our home... If you only have one modem/router, I could definitely see this being a signal issue. We had to put one of the routers in the front of the house in order to give the doorbell, garage cam, and smart TV, smart hub, smart plug, Google mini....the list goes on...in the front room good signal....you definitely have to have devices within good reach and a decent wifi system. The battery devices are a pain too...Could you exchange yours for a wired model? I will say, the pro made a huge difference. That thing is crystal clear.
Paid 110 for mine from Ebay

Seconding this - i have a pro model that i bought in like 2021, still rocking it today without issue
Gotta say what version. Ring Pro 2 (now called "current pro") is better than the g4's video but the basic and battery versions aren't.
If they thought about it, they didn't do anything. The Horizontal vs Vertical switch is lazy and isn't an either or. Doorbells like Ring Pro 2 have much better coverage horizontally and at least as good vertically.
I have a single Ring pro2 doorbell camera that I pay subscription. Happy with that. Also have a Ring security system that I don’t have a subscription. It’s self monitored. Never had any issues. I’ve added 4 wireless sirens to the system. Also have a stand alone ip cameras system running on a dedicated Mac mini and a dog. Think I got it covered.
I have a doorbell pro 2 and several floodlight cams and they all work well with little to no issues like you described. We do have an older doorbell 2 (non-pro model) at a separate property that can be hit or miss at times in very cold or hot weather, which affects battery life. I chalk that up to poor wiring in that building not being able to keep it charged in those extremes. As others have said, I would contact their support and see what they say. If no resolution, you have your answer and next steps, but they may offer an acceptable solution.
I followed the instruction on the Scrypted site for setting up a Ring with HomeKit, took me about 20 - 30 minutes including the install. I have a Ring Pro 2 doorbell.
I use a Ring Pro 2 (without any Ring Subscription) and have it tied in to HomeKit using Scrypted, I get much richer notifications than I ever did with Ring. It also tells me who is at the door if I have their face in the peoples section of my Photos, detects Animals and Vehicles too, also pops live notifications and camera on to my Apple TV, and records it all using HomeKit Secure Video. https://preview.redd.it/1iy6nks56r9g1.png?width=1206&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cb1ecf13f42c1af9dcea276a2a81cbc8a5fe3e3
I recently upgraded a 2016 pro wired one for the latest pro model (not the brand new 4k one) and it solved all my problems. The old one would never give me motion notifications, connect to live extremely slowly, and shut off randomly. Something might be wrong with yours.

Currently running a Ring doorbell cam Pro (the wired unit) has been very good for a number of years, but I have found that it’s got its challenges, but the biggest thing is the subscription fees. I’m tired of everyone having these subscriptions. When we first put it in we only had it, then we added another cam, and another, next thing we know the subscription is costing an arm and a leg monthly. I’ve been looking at Reolink, but leaning to Unifi (mainly because my whole home network is Unifi). I look forward to digging into these comments here to even help me.
