r/Ring • Wired doorbell pro vs wired doorbell plus - is pro that much better? ->Consider mesh Wi Fi with Ethernet backhaul. And Pro2
r/Ring • Do no delay video doorbells exist? ->We have the wired video doorbell pro 2. Has the best picture quality of all our ring devices. But- We also have the mesh eero wifi system because of all our smart devices and layout of our home... If you only have one modem/router, I could definitely see this being a signal issue. We had to put one of the routers in the front of the house in order to give the doorbell, garage cam, and smart TV, smart hub, smart plug, Google mini....the list goes on...in the front room good signal....you definitely have to have devices within good reach and a decent wifi system. The battery devices are a pain too...Could you exchange yours for a wired model? I will say, the pro made a huge difference. That thing is crystal clear.
r/Ring • Ring doorbell sucks ->Welp this is misleading, I was gonna comment that we purchased the doorbell pro like 2 years ago and its been rock solid, no issues at all, and when I looked the product page, now its called doorbell plus but its upgraded lol, so now the former pro 2 is called pro and the former pro is now called plus, the only difference I could see is the resolution, 1080p for the plus and 1536p for the pro, for $50 I would is say the pro its worth it for the extra resolution, otherwise the plus will do an excellent job, just remember that with ring, it sucks to pay a sub to access al the functionality of the doorbell (recordings) and to get a beefy transformer cause when most people complain about the doorbell not working fine, its just that they are not using a good transformer and the doorbell is not getting enough power to work correctly.
r/Ring • Wired doorbell pro vs wired doorbell plus - is pro that much better? ->[Scroll down for comparison](https://ring.com/video-doorbell-cameras) I always recommend the Pro (formerly Pro 2) The biggest comment I get after doing an install of the Plus (formerly pro) is, "I can't see my porch." If you're the type that want to see a package sitting on your porch, get the Pro. It also has better audio for two way talk, better motion detection and does package detection.
r/Ring • Wired doorbell pro vs wired doorbell plus - is pro that much better? ->Gotta say what version. Ring Pro 2 (now called "current pro") is better than the g4's video but the basic and battery versions aren't.
r/Ubiquiti • G4 Doorbell Pro is incredible ->I know most will rail against it, but I am perfectly satisfied with the Ring Wired Pro. I don't need the recordings, so I don't have a subscription on it, can work with your existing chime and is inexpensive. If you don't care about the chime, you can go with the standard Ring Wired and it under $50. I do have an Echo Show in various locations in the house so I can see and talk to the person at the door from virtually anywhere hands free.
r/smarthome • Video doorbell with existing wiring and no subscription ->I know most will rail against it, but I am perfectly satisfied with the Ring Wired Pro. r/smarthome • Video doorbell with existing wiring and no subscription ->The Video Doorbell Pro2 (wired) is exceptional. Live view depends heavily on your internet connection. My Pro2 live view loads up within two seconds on both my phone and the website. Are you only relying on the free plan that doesn't offer cloud storage for all recorded videos? The paid Protect Plus plan, or free trial on a new device, gives you a 6 sec. pre-roll to see what happened before motion was triggered.
r/Ring • Do no delay video doorbells exist? ->Ring is solid if you get a wired model and more specifically the latest wired Ring Pro (formerly called the wired Ring Pro 2). Compared to prior Ring doorbell models, it has superior resolution (1536p), a superior field of view, better night vision, quick roll record, superior detection of people and packages, and an excellent microphone and speaker for interacting with visitors. It is faster and more responsive than 90% of the other doorbell products on the market and noticeably more responsive than every other Ring product (including the Ring Elite POE). I have yet to see another video doorbell at any price that can match its microphone and speaker. It is a solid piece of hardware, and if it were available without a subscription service, it would likely cost far more than it does.
r/Ring • Best doorbell cam? ->I have a doorbell pro 2 and several floodlight cams and they all work well with little to no issues like you described. We do have an older doorbell 2 (non-pro model) at a separate property that can be hit or miss at times in very cold or hot weather, which affects battery life. I chalk that up to poor wiring in that building not being able to keep it charged in those extremes. As others have said, I would contact their support and see what they say. If no resolution, you have your answer and next steps, but they may offer an acceptable solution.
r/Ring • Ring doorbell sucks ->Just avoid the ones with batteries. We have 3 Ring Wired Doorbell Pro devices (along with a bunch of other Ring cameras). While we don't often get all the way down to that cold, I know that the few times it has gotten down to about -30°F, the wired doorbells and floodlight cameras have all worked just fine. The ones with batteries and solar panels were less reliable.
r/smarthome • Best Smart Doorbells for Cold Temperatures (Canada) ->Yeah, looking at photos now. That's not my favorite. And the fish-eye distortion isn't as bad as my current Ring Pro doorbell that I just bought but still bothersome. Might have to plan for a second outdoor camera or find an alternative. :/
r/HomeKit • What to replace Ring Doorbell Wired with ->My Ring Pro works well. Can access all the information from HA.
r/homeassistant • Video camera doorbell ->Bought a Ring Pro doorbell, switched off Amazon und using HKSV instead. No more battery drain and perfectly working 😅
r/HomeKit • HKSV Doorbell that doesn't suck? ->Thank you that explains it. I had bought a pro two or three years ago and it stopped working last week. I called Ring support and they sent me a replacement, what I got was a wired doorbell plus. I was a little upset at first as it felt like I was downgraded but I guess they just did some crazy marketing based relabeling and I have a newer version of the same product 🤷🏽♂️
r/Ring • Wired doorbell pro vs wired doorbell plus - is pro that much better? ->The radar on the pro really cuts down on false positives for motion detection, you get an overhead view and can see where the person's walking, pretty cool
r/Ring • Wired doorbell pro vs wired doorbell plus - is pro that much better? ->Just recently switched from Ring (Ring Pro for three years wired) to Googles 2024 wired doorbell. Ring’s detention algorithm quality (person. Package. Animal etc) is poor. Lots of issues with latency when live connecting. Video captures showing as just blank black screens. Occasional dropping of signal. At first I thought I just got a lemon. Called support. Got a replacement. Still had issues. Lots of packet scans of my network and looking at signal strengths of the WiFi bands. Firewall inspections. Router logs…. Finally just decided to switch from ring to nest because because I had a echo set up with the ring and half the features I was using in the Alexa app just wouldn’t work and no one at Alexa responded to me for my request to fix the app. If you go to Amazon’s browser page and try to get to Alexa the browser page just tells you to download the app. Seems pretty clear Amazon is setting different priorities that is not Ring or Alexa. The nest doorbell was easy to install. Setup was a breeze. Had to reboot it once right after the firmware update upon install. No latency issues. Detection algorithms work great. Everything else WiFi router firewall is the same. Does it still cost money (subscription) to get nest? Yes. If not paying a subscription is important to you. Get something else but remember you are then responsible for the storage memory and security of your setup. Nest works for my needs in terms of being able to access the device from anywhere via my phone. Enough buffer days of video clips just long enough for me to access it and download it if I need to. And smart alerts through their detection algorithms. You are paying for storage. Data analytics. Secure remote connectivity.
r/Nest • Is Nest Doorbell (battery) worth buying in 2024? ->Ring Pro with Access Controller Pro 2
r/homesecurity • Doorbell camera with built in relay for controlling lock. Any product recommendations. ->Hardwired ring survived two winters. I pay for the alarm so there’s a monthly cost for me.
r/Winnipeg • Doorbell Camera Recommendations? ->I installed my own ring wired bell. Doorbell circuits are only 12v so you wouldn't even feel it if you were exposed to that current. Still turn it off though as it could short out the bell if it's live when you're wiring it. If your bell is already mounted where you'd like the ring to go then you just need to swap the wiring to it. If not you might need to extend the wire to where you want it. I just hid the wire in a crevice in the wall. I had to pull out some door sealant but I just re-did it at the end. You could also drill through the outer brick and put the wire through that.
r/AskIreland • Best video doorbell? ->Two wired version Ring doorbell/cameras for my front door and den (front facing) door and a battery flood/camera at the backyard. Have to change the backyard battery about every 90 days. I love them!
r/Ring • Ring doorbell sucks ->I don't know what kind of router you have, but if you can create a virtual Lan for IoT devices, you should. Then, make sure that the vlan only works on 2.4ghz only, which is what the doorbell requires. Unfortunately, the battery version is not something I would have gotten. I have the wired version and had to make the wifi change to get it to work properly.
r/Ring • Ring doorbell sucks ->Not unlike similar post, I have a wired Ring doorbell, and had a separate Ring cam to watch our puppy at night. It’s great, works well, absolutely no complaints. I don’t need the separate cam anymore and just paid €39.99 for the year for ring (€100 for 2 x cameras) and I wish I had bought the Eufy. No monthly subs with Eufy. I also have a Eufy robot vacuum and it does the job. Next year before my Ring subscription renews, I’ll jump to Eufy. Hard to change over atm as I’ve got the 2 x cams and 2 x doorbell chimes. I also have a few TP Link Tapo smart plugs and it seems like a decent brand too. Worth looking at price and researching reviews.
r/AskIreland • Can somebody recommend a video doorbell? ->It doesn’t work live for my camera unfortunately. You have to have the premium/higher subscription.
r/AskIreland • Can somebody recommend a video doorbell? ->I am tired of running Scrypted and having my Ring doorbell screen spin and spin and spin in the Home app. Sometimes I get the feed, and sometimes I don't. Its rarely quick. And my network is good. I want something more reliable that "directly" supports HKSV (ie: not needing Scrypted). There is always the possibility that I will just wait to see if the rumors are correct that Apple will be coming out with a video doorbell of their own this year. But, I am also open to replacing my Ring doorbell now if there is a good option. (ie:works well, good feature set, not too expensive). What do you suggest?
r/HomeKit • What to replace Ring Doorbell Wired with ->If you get Ring, get it wired in is my advice. Mine works off WIFI and very regularly the connection fails to connect and i cant see who at the door or it won pick up a motion as it should
r/AskIreland • Best video doorbell? ->Honestly dunno man, but personally I dont fuck with electricity. They've a [video ](https://ring.com/gb/en/support/articles/ctz2i/Installing-your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Wired?srsltid=AfmBOordlEhYnGudwA3WezyAcobz5g_6vABCyLc1AZ0dJ73rCRni39bM)on their website with instructions if you wanted to try your hand at it.
r/AskIreland • Best video doorbell? ->My house came with a Ring. I just don't pay the subscription fee. So I get remote live view and motion notifications, I just don't get saved video recordings to go back and review.
r/smarthome • Video doorbell without subscription ->I had ring and eufy. I bought another eufy last year. I had so much trouble with it. It wouldn't pick up motion for hours. Day and night. I eventually got my money back. I'm trying to pick a different doorbell
r/AskIreland • Best video doorbell? ->I could not get ring to connect to my router - it was 2 meters away. returned in - I have a nest one right now but its not wired and I hate having to charge it every week
r/Roku • anyone use the Roku doorbell ->My standard Ring doorbell cam has only shutdown once due to cold this winter. I don't have to charge it for months, either.
r/Winnipeg • Doorbell Camera Recommendations? ->Pretty sure Ring will do your basic requests without subscription. I think a subscription is only required to have videos saved so you can see who came to your door.
r/homeowners • Video Doorbell w/out Subscription? ->You’ll mostly get people hating on Ring products here. But honestly, they’re the best all around in terms of consistent, high quality, well-rounded hardware and software. $10/month isn’t that much if you want something that just works and you don’t have to keep fiddling with. I personally have dozens of cameras from multiple companies, including Ring. And I have to fiddle with the Ring ones the least. I consider it to be my main security camera, the other ones are just for redundancy or specific-use cases that a Ring cam may not work well for. No camera company is perfect, but Ring is definitely head and shoulders above the rest. And oh, don’t just look and compare at spec #s. For example, the video quality on my 1080p Ring cams are much better than my 4k/2k ones from other companies. Resolution isn’t the only thing that matters for video after all. Encoding, bitrate, etc. also matter.
r/smarthome • Choosing between 3 video doorbells for an apartment ->ring is good , detects every movement by the door
r/homeautomation • Best video doorbell for package detection? ->I use my Ring camera without a subscription. I got it connected to Home Assistant and Scrypted. Works perfectly, and with an upgraded doorbell transformer, I can record 24/7
r/BuyItForLife • Best Doorbell Camera That Doesn't Require A Subscription? ->A Ring door camera without the subscription is useless. The only thing they let you do is get a motion alert (for everything - if you want smart notifications then you need to subscribe) which gets annoying. No viewing of past recording at all. Becomes a realtime on demand camera. Pretty useless as a doorbell camera in my opinion.
r/homeowners • Video Doorbell w/out Subscription? ->TP-Link's Kasa or Tapo devices are what you want. Get a large enough memory card and you'll have 24/7 recording for a month. Great quality video as well. I previously had Ring, Nest, and Wyze doorbell cameras, my Tapo doorbell camera is superior to those.
r/homeowners • Video Doorbell w/out Subscription? ->Not quite true. My mother wanted a bell because she had trouble hearing the fixed bell and also wanted to be able to see who was there before answering. The Ring does that without a subscription even when you are away. The only thing you need the subscription for is to store the data. It will also use the existing 12v bell supply if you have one so that you don’t have to recharge. If you use wireless then I think the battery lasts about 3 months but it depends on how often it is used.
r/AskIreland • Can somebody recommend a video doorbell? ->I've been using Ring for several years. I don't really recommend them because of the cloud dependence (which leads to some performance issues) but I still use them because of inertia. However, I do very much like the fact that Ring integrates a camera and alarm system into a single app/platform. I find this very convenient. You will get a lot of recommendations for Reolink but given what I say above the thing that puts me off them is the lack of alarm system integration. If I was purchasing new today I'd probably look at Eufy or Tapo. I believe they process locally, have video doorbells in your price rance, and have product lines which goes beyond just cameras.
r/smarthome • Best local non subscription doorbell camera? Under $100? ->After about 8 years of the Ring, I replaced it with the Eufy. The thing that got me to switch was Ring's ever-increasing subscription fees, until I decided that $50/year for a doorbell wasn't worth it. Not only is the video quality better on the Eufy, but having local storage and no fees to access it was what sold me on it. I have a bunch of their cameras as well and have been happy with them.
r/homeautomation • Choosing between 3 video doorbells for an apartment ->Got 2 of the solar cameras earlier this year. Absolutely fantastic AI tracking and camera quality and battery life. Now looking at replacing my Ring camera with eufy no subscription doorbell
r/smarthome • What is the best doorbell camera? ->It was only until I got the solar cameras that I realised how the ring footage looked like it was from 1999.
r/smarthome • What is the best doorbell camera? ->Switched from Ring to Aqara G4 as well! It’s good and the video quality is so much better than my old ring camera. Just fyi if you power it with only batteries they will go through them quickly. You can mess around with different settings to increase battery life but my Ring camera was battery powered too and lasted much longer. Otherwise, I love it.
r/HomeKit • What doorbell camera works best with HomeKit? ->Can you recommend which batteries and charger? The ring had a rechargeable battery and it was so convenient!
r/HomeKit • What doorbell camera works best with HomeKit? ->Yeah I'm on Ring as doorbell plus a chime and 2 pet cams. I never heard of Eufy til this thread, I'm definitely going to look into it. Presume the Ring live view still works without subscription? Could still use the indoor ones as pet cams.
r/AskIreland • Can somebody recommend a video doorbell? ->Hmmm, that's crap. Thanks for the info re Eufy 👍
r/AskIreland • Can somebody recommend a video doorbell? ->Got a Ring 5 months ago and ive never been more satisfied
r/smarthome • Choosing between 3 video doorbells for an apartment ->
