SO the D210 is better
I don’t know if they are available in the UK, but I have 2 Tapo doorbells from TP-Link that do actually call your phone. It’s a handy feature since you don’t have to go through the hassle of opening the app to answer, you just answer it like a regular phone call with added video. They are battery operated (rechargeable) and wifi. There are 2 models, the D210 (which is what I have) and the D225. The D225 can be hardwired also if you have power where you install it. They come with a separate plug-in chime and work with Alexa and Google. Plus they have free onboard person, vehicle, and pet detection. We’ve had ours for about 6 months and I’ve been very happy with how they perform.
Tapo D235 (£80) + H200 Hub (£30) + microSD card. Or the Tapo D210 (£40) as a cheaper alternative. No subscription needed and a great piece of kit in my opinion. The hub sits inside your home so even if someone rips the doorbell off and runs the footage will be safe, it also supports a few more cameras and all Tapo's range of sensors if you ever need them. Battery life is pretty good as long as you tune the motion detection well, especially if you live on a busy road, barely an issue if not though.
Tapo d210 160* FOV, no $, running 2 years 👍, added a solar panel to eliminate the needing to remove to charge. It's less than $50

Used the D210/TD21 and now D230S1.
I have wireless Tapo. No subscription. Records to a micro sd card. https://preview.redd.it/xniqxwfxatoe1.jpeg?width=1576&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f709ba37673e2c3dfd5640affe6eb3c2490bcab0
I have Tapo non wired. Rechargeable battery. No subscription required. I use a micro SD card.
I have a Tapo wifi battery doorbell and it's not great. With person detection on the battery barely lasts so I've got it set to only wake then the button is pressed now which kind of defeats the point. It also doesn't expose a stream to home assistant
I'm a big fan of my Tapo. I opted for a battery powered model due to it's placement location so I need to charge it every 6 months. A big selling point for me is that you use a storage card, or the yearly subscription to save video (subscription is something like $27/year).
I'll join the other two comments and say Tapo and Reolink. I helped a friend install a Reolink PoE doorbell cam, and it is clear as can be and he loves it. And I just bought a Tapo doorbell cam for my parents and they love it. Tapo is nice if you still have a 24v ac doorbell circuit there. When the doorbell is pressed, it actually calls their phones like someone is making a phone call, and they can answer it and talk to whoever is at the door. It's pretty cool. There is also an electric chime that plugs into a wall outlet. With their old doorbell circuit already there, installation was about 10 minutes, and most of that time was spent reading directions.
TP-Link's Kasa or Tapo devices are what you want. Get a large enough memory card and you'll have 24/7 recording for a month. Great quality video as well. I previously had Ring, Nest, and Wyze doorbell cameras, my Tapo doorbell camera is superior to those.
Same. I had a bunch of Wyze cameras, but I've moved onto TP-Links Tapo system and am happy with it all. Their Kasa line is also good.
