This is happening to me as well. When you ring the bell, nothing from the mechanical. But significant motion, like turning off lights, and the chime would ding. Annoying AF, and no settings for it that I can find. I had to take it back off the wall and cut the wires. Does anyone have a solution?

Lots of options out there and lots of good quality products across brands. I personally have Wyze doorbells. I'm also in the Wyze ecosystem for lots of other things, so it works for me. I have 5 of their v2 doorbells and one of their new Duo Doorbells. The Duo has two cameras (one points down at your doormat, essentially. Do I need it? Probably not, but pretty neat. All of them have a local SD card installed for 24x7 recording. No subscription required, but I do also pay for the Cam Plus Unlimited subscription for the AI detection and cloud recordings to supplement the SD cards. The v2 doorbell is around $45. The Duo is new and is around $90. The Duo comes with a WiFi chime. The v2 does not come with a chime, but they can ding the WiFi chime that came with the Duo. They can all also ding your mechanical chime if you have one. And of course you can alert G Home or Echo devices and also your phones.

Wyze is expensive? The v2 doorbell is $45. The new Duo is $90. You can use both without a subscription.

I have a wired doorbell and I was so pissed at Wyze after I bought the V2 wired version. It didn’t work with my legacy doorbell chime (probably because I need a transformer somewhere that I couldn’t find in my garage or basement), it didn’t work with my V1 plug in chime, and I couldn’t get it to consistently work with Alexa announcements. So I effectively had no doorbell chime. I have a lot of Wyze products (indoor cameras and outdoor floodlights) and I was so pissed that I was thinking of switching eco systems. My experience with the Duo has been the opposite thus far. It’s SUPER fast to load the feed in the app, setup was a breeze, it comes with a chime, and it seems to be working reliably with Alexa. My low voltage wires also seem to be charging the battery, but I’ll provide an update if it ever dies. I initially thought the downward camera was a gimmick but it’s actually really cool. So far, so good, I’m really happy I stuck with them. …I swear I don’t work for Wyze and they’re not paying me to say any of this lol. They’re not a perfect company and I’ve had struggles with their products in the past, but I love the floodlight pro and this doorbell seems to be a similar quality.

Doorbell works perfectly fine with Frigate. I've had mine going for 2+ years. There were some reolink issues historically (and I've had some issues with my Duo 2) but the doorbell is not an issue in Frigate or BI.

I rebooted my wifi and I noticed that the duo cam doorbell is no longer connecting to it. Have you had this issue before? Not looking forward to unplugging the device every time I have to reboot my wifi for a firmware update.

Yeah, it's going to be annoying to take it apart... Just wondering, when you hardwired your Duo Cam, did you remove the battery? When I hardwired it, the instructions never mentioned to remove the battery, so I assume that it's going to be a pain to power cycle it. Edit: Luckily, it was pretty easy to restart it. I knew which breaker the doorbell was attached to, so once I turned it off for 10 seconds, the Duo Cam came back to life, and stayed on when I turned the breaker back on. Luckily that should be easy to do going forward.

I just installed mine yesterday. I'll say it's a lot taller than my previous eufy one. I had to skip using the 30 degree mount because those holes are even taller and wouldn't really work for my house (tall wood slats). I can't get my MicroSD card to work at all so far, not at all a problem with my previous 8 cameras around the house. Formatting and restarting the camera isn't changing it. Same cards I've used in the others just fine. 64GB. I'll probably pull it tonight to see what the deal is...I struggled to get the cables to hide it wasn't easy to get connected based on where the wires come through.

Were you able to resolve this issue? I am having a similar problem, the mechanical chime is sounding at specific times (maybe related to unknown automations) and with certain notification (motion for car lights at night). Edit: I spoke with Wyze support. The only way to use the Duo & manual chime is if you are upgrading from the V2 doorbell with an “chime support” component. It is only available when you hit the V2 bell and not sold separately. https://preview.redd.it/qc4gsdapkzae1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fb30c27189b92152dcf70cbf86f23ff843194e60

TP-Link's Kasa or Tapo devices are what you want. Get a large enough memory card and you'll have 24/7 recording for a month. Great quality video as well. I previously had Ring, Nest, and Wyze doorbell cameras, my Tapo doorbell camera is superior to those.

Google/Nest has really great AI detection. Hella quick. Otherwise it's not really a security camera. Nice to have, super appreciate it being able to recognize faces and tell me when [friend | mail lady] is at the door. It's AI with a camera and doorbell functionality. Ahead of it's time with subpar hardware. The wired functionality let's it integrate directly into your existing doorbell so no other devices needed. If you're looking for a camera with doorbell functionality, go for [Ubiquity / Unify](https://ui.com/us/en/camera-security/special-devices). If you're looking for the cheapest camera option, [Wyze is pretty great](https://www.wyze.com/collections/video-doorbells). But it sucks at everything else. Really you'll get to pick one, maybe two from the list of doorbells out there: Good doorbell (any wired option). Good camera. Good AI. Good integrations (smart home, access control, etc.)

Yeah, wyze AI sucks ass. It's definitely a "you get a good camera" type of doorbell lol I've been rolling my exterior wyze cams on SD card and couldn't be happier.

Wyze garbage does exactly this. Every September when the sun was just right the thing would go offline. I even installed a tiny switch to restart the thing. Went with a Eufy because my door is in white balance hell and it does a wayyyyyy better job for the conditions. Yeah Eufy comes with its own problems (and benefits) but it and it hasn’t overheated at all.

End of story. Reolink. If poor, then wyze. But get reolink.

Funny thing is that I have a full on 100% wyze setup and they are great. Reolink is just better, but wyze is fine. For the price actually it's really good.

Same. I do have one issue with the wyze bulb socket they refuse to fix but otherwise they work great!

Yep exactly. The problem is that you cannot control the lights independently of the camera. Setup is: Wyze switch Wyze lamp socket Wyze cam v3 The switch cannot turn on the lights without turning on the cameras. The switch cannot turn on the cameras without turning on the lights. The app says it can. It cannot. I saw a bunch of forum posts about this issue, so I'm not alone. Even troubleshot it with customer service, they agreed, they saw the forum posts... The still haven't fixed it. It's been probably 2+ years.

From a practical point of view the Wyze doorbell and interior petcam we have have been great. It sounds like others might have some security concerns? So weigh the options I guess

Having had both a nest doorbell and a wyze doorbell that both crapped out both in less than 3 years that we've owned this house, I can recommend against those, but don't have a good recommendation.

My only beef with the Wyze doorbell and other cameras is the Ai is weird. “Something moved in the frame. There also a car in the frame. I must’ve seen the car” so it alerts about a car…meanwhile there is a cat walking by. The image quality and the cost of a subscription for 99 bucks has me switching everything over to Wyze.

We use the Wyze as a baby monitor. Works well, better picture than my ring doorbell, and it doesn’t have a service attached it to it, plus it is dirt cheap.

The outdoor outlet uses a different voltage, so you'd have to plug in a transformer to it. Or wired into an enclosure. If you want to go to the route of using a plug-in transformer, you need a 24 volt AC transformer rated for at least 1.5 amps for 1,500 milliamps. It wouldn't look great though. I'd recommend spending a little extra and having an electrician wire in a doorbell for you. I use wyze for cameras and doorbell. It's a cheap subscription and the hardware is cheap too. So it's really expandable for your needs.
