I have a wyze pro and while it does have a subscription it is also super cheap for said subscription. It's done great through two Canadian winters thua far.

$24.99 plus tax for the year. Edit to add I have the cam plus annual. It's enough for my needs.

Was coming here to suggest Wyze. We’re happy with our Pro v2. US-based company as well. SD records 24/7 and subscription is affordable if you choose to sign up (around $3/mos)

You’ll want a battery powered doorbell camera. Eufy, Wyze, Blink, etc. nearly all of them either the manufacturer or a third party make mounts for renters. IMHO stay away from ring (I just ditched mine after 5 years), they recently announced that they no longer require law enforcement to obtain a warrant for video from your doorbell.

I came to suggest Wyze. My wireless doorbell has survived both Central Texas summers and Minnesota winters.

So I had a Wyze battery one for my parents (81)... never was working past a day. Changed to the Aqara battery one at Christmas, no Home Assistant, no Aqara hub- the the doorbell camera, the inside communication piece and Alexa/Apple TV. It goes off about twice a day on average with people/ deliveries/family- battery is still going strong. And Alexa can connect to the camera consistently AND when they are watching the AppleTV a picture in picture pops up when it has a person in the camera. Love it. I have a few Aqara things at my home with Home Assistant- and they are very reliable. I will say I do have an Aqara bridge installed- so I use that for most of my Home Assistant communications. Good Luck!

I second this and will add that all of their cameras are great. Went from foscam to Nest to Wyze and now I've found peace with tpLink/Tapo.

I have a Wyze doorbell. You need a working internet to notify the cell phone, but the ring on the physical chime is done locally and doesn't go over the internet.
