Sound is amazing, even without the sub, just Bar + 2 surrounds. Setup was a bit buggy, had to reset all of it twice till it played cleanly without any disconnect/interruption. Have comparison to the SB 900 and the SB Ultra. Upgrade from 900 yes, SB Ultra not necessarily big enough. What country you're in that you're having a hard time getting it? Edit: sorry forgot to answer your actual question - initially just tested the SB solely without the surrounds and also the surrounds without the SB. SB adds a lot of Bass, but even only 1 Surround speaker delivers really full overall sound. Unless you're a complete insane audiophile who's looking for a 10 grand home cinema sound setup, i think you'll be very happy with the lifestyle SoundBar.
Hi, I had the smart ultra soundbar including surrounds 300 and bass module 700. I sold it to get the new lifestyle soundbar, sub and surrounds. So far I am disappointed with it. I had connectivity issues right out the box, took 4 factory reset to get it working. Surrounds keep going offline for some reason. Sound quality was better with the smart ultra system in my opinion. Lifestyle system makes it sound very acoustic and the dialogue is not at all clear. Bass has less distortion than module 700 though it lacks the same Punch(According to Bose website they use same acoustic package but retuned). I called Bose to ask about this issue and apparently many people have complained about this and they have their engineers looking into a update. Unable to provide a timeline for fix. I am frustrated. I might return the lifestyle and buy smart ultra system again
Hey all, we put together this overview video and some initial impressions after testing out the full Bose Lifestyle Ultra lineup. A couple of things to note if you're considering this system. There's no remote, it uses HDMI-CEC, and there's no optical in, so you'll need a newer smart TV to use with the soundbar. You can also only run one sub at a time. Also dealt with a few app blunders, including the app deciding not to recognize my system in the middle of a movie... which means reconnecting and re-configuring the entire thing :( [https://youtu.be/eCpJ6wxqGAo](https://youtu.be/eCpJ6wxqGAo)
Had a chance to check out the new Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar setup and came away pretty impressed overall. [https://www.soundguys.com/bose-lifestyle-ultra-soundbar-review-bose-goes-all-in-on-home-theater-157488/](https://www.soundguys.com/bose-lifestyle-ultra-soundbar-review-bose-goes-all-in-on-home-theater-157488/) The Atmos presentation is pretty convincing once the rear speakers and sub get involved. Gladiator II has some epic battle scenes for this kind of setup. Not perfect, though. The app still had a few hiccups during setup. At this point, between Sonos and Bose, it kinda feels like you just pick your poison and live with it. I hardwired mine and the issues went away entirely. We have an eero wifi 7 pro mesh setup and we're having issues with the calibration aspect, speakers dropping etc, after wiring the bar the systems been working great.
Yw, frustrating to start but should be problem free now !
So far I'm loving mine, I picked up the Lifestyle Ultra Bar, Surrounds and Sub. Dialogue is very clear, the dialog enhancer does a great job in difficult scenes without making it sound off as well. It fills our room without an issue, the new surrounds feel like a massive upgrade from the previous 700s. Spatial seems much more impressive, which I'm guessing in part is due to surround height channels. The app works well, and connectivity hasn't been an issue for me. I had to add small sound isolation pads to raise by bar above my tv's base that sits on our console because the built in feet werent high enough to raise it above, but that is my only complaint so far. Last thought is that it was more convenient tuning the Lifestyle Ultra than my older 900 series bar using the microphone it included. Using a cell phone wirelessly for this task was much more convenient.
I'll update tonight when I'm back home with my settings. One side note - we upgraded our wifi over the weekend to Netgear Orbi 870 Mesh from Google Wifi. I had shifted some things around and had connectivity issues, calibration issues etc. I went ahead and connected my Lifestyle Ultra Bar to ethernet and all issues went away. Connectivity to the sub and satellites seems rock great now for anyone else experiencing issues. I had issues even when giving the bar and speakers their own SSID with 5GHZ only on the Orbi gear but it worked great with my Nest Wifi Pro setup.
The Bose looks nice, but there’s a few things that I don’t like. One is for a $1,100 soundbar to not have a single 2.1 input and only have the earc port is inexcusable. Two is the fact that it doesn’t support DTS at all. Anybody noticing that a rival expensive brand has these same 2 exact issues? Yea I’m obviously talking about (Sonos) which I own. Lastly number 3 would be not having an option to add 2 subwoofer’s unless they add it in a future update, but that’s always a huge IF, and without it, that would be a big issue for the user with a medium to big layout. With 2 surround sound speakers which finally provide Atmos, your at $2600.
