This. OP, like you, I recently wanted to upgrade my soundbars. I tried the Sonos Beam Gen 2 and Sub Mini combo that everyone raves about (also caught it on sale a couple months back). The software and app is really lacking in quality and connectivity. The app took a while to recognize my sub and sometimes take way too long to reconnect if I unplugged it. and you’d have to be on 2.4G WiFi as 5G would conflict with it. I just don’t like absolutely being reliant on an app and WiFi for stuff like this to work. I ended up finding a Bose 600 smart soundbar that is the older version of the current Bose Smart which is a tie below the ultra, and adding a bass module 500. While Bose also needs an app to connect the soundbar and woofer to customize your settings, you can still hardwire the soundbar and bass to the tv. I like having this level of assurance in case the app decides to shit the bed. The Samsung might be the best bang for the buck as it comes with everything included. Tried a q600f for a couple weeks but found the bass completely lacking. The 990 should be better.

The Polk soundbars haven't really wowed me, apart from the MagniFi Mini, which is really cool. The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 might be the best choice of the bars you mentioned, If you are open to expand it later. It has quite a bit of bass regarding its size and it delivers well on Dolby Atmos, especially regarding its price. Be aware, that Bose has unfortunately doubled down on their Multiroom lineup und is still not offering Atmos-capable rears. The Beam is also really good, if the app works as intended. Sonos lineup of products especially regarding multiroom and accessories are the best in the business. I prefer the Bose sound more, but that's just a personal preference. Regarding bars you haven't mentioned. With your budget, you might get the upper tier ones like the 830 or even better the Q935. If available for 500€, the Q935 would be the bar to get. The Samsung soundbars are a bang for their buck, when discounted before releasing the slightly improved successors. They also support all sound formats, which is also great. TLDR: Q935 or Q835, if budget allows and expandability is no priority. Beam or Smart Soundbar 600, if expandability is a must and the budget should remain under 500€ for now.

Any suggestions for a soundbar pairing 83 LG g5? I got the s95ar but compared to my Bose soundbar 600 and maybe it's me it sounds super different and not really in a good way. What's your experience and what would you reccomend? My TV getting mounted and I have them mounting a soundbar too so got to figure it out today. Thanks in advance

i had both and the 900 is far superior to the 600, especially with the bass module. Get the 900 or Ultra

Here’s the quick difference between the Sonos Beam Gen 2 and Bose 600: Sonos Beam Gen 2 - Cleaner, wider sound - Better for music and dialogue - Strong Sonos ecosystem and easy expansion Bose 600 - Stronger Dolby Atmos height effects - More impact for movies - Includes Chromecast and a physical remote Bottom line: Beam = best overall sound clarity Bose 600 = better Atmos punch for movies. I personally would go with Sonos. I checked them all out during black Friday ssles. I ended up going all out with Sonos Arc Ultra, rear Era 300s, and a Sonos mini sub. I have always had great sound systems, my basement setup is a Denon Avr with infinity speakers and sub. Its 7.1 suround. This sonos is 9.4.1, the dolby atmos is mind boggling amazing. Both the Bose and Sonos beam are virtual atmos, but still very good. I have Bose speaker and always though highly of them. I am new to the Sonos world and my Denon setup was 14 years old but top tier back then. Both Sonos and Bose are premium, but Sonos realy has become the top tier in home audio echosystems. Dolby atmos is just amazing. And if you ever want to add on, the era 300 rears have true atmos and adding a mini sub woukd realy ofload the lows and clears up the soundbar. But you will be happy with just the soundbar

Just a thought: I don’t know the construction method or date of your building, but having lived in 1930s builds with plaster and wood walls/floors, I can tell you a sub and any rear-firing speakers are gonna carry through to another unit if your building isn’t good at sound dampening already. Or if you luck out and the wall cavity isn’t near another dwelling space. Bass travels. And they tend to build more cheaply these days. If you currently can’t hear neighbors above or below in daily life, maybe that’ll be fine. Not much one can do except have sound dampening products like rugs and fabric in your space, and be considerate after hours. On your actual query: I’d go soundbar. I have a Bose 600 with sub now and it’s great. I had a Sonos Beam and sub before. Also good but Sonos kept having garbage software updates and dropped connection to WiFi.

Top picks (all true Atmos + wireless sub, ≤ 42”) • Vizio M-Series Elevate M512e-K6 (41.38”) — 5.1.2 with included rears + up-firing in the bar. Killer immersion per dollar. • Samsung HW-Q600C (40.6”) — 3.1.2 with up-firing drivers, eARC, and works with Samsung Q-Symphony (your Q90T supports Q-Symphony with compatible bars). Great if you want the TV+bar to play together. • Polk Signa S4 (41.2”) — 3.1.2 with two dedicated up-firing heights; simple, slim, and dialog-friendly. • LG S75Q (35.1”) — Compact 3.1.2 with upward-firing height channels, HDMI eARC, Dolby Vision passthrough. • Bose Smart Soundbar 600 (27.3”) + Bass Module 500 — Small bar with 2 up-firing drivers; add the sub for real low-end. (Sub is separate.)
