I have no issues with that Bose set up. Ran the Adapt set up with headphones, adjusted highs and lows on the bar. Added one click to the sub and it’s been fine. I don’t have anywhere at all for rear satellites. Sub size on Sonos and Samsung were small. I keep my sub at +1 and it’s plenty. I’ve set it higher on movies and it’s got the kitchen rattling.
I’ve not heard the Samsung bars at all. I jumped into the Ultra and 700 sub and haven’t been disappointed at all. I have no place for surrounds in my home. I have it in an open floor plan at around 650 square feet with 9’ ceilings. Cannot run from the sound or bass. Sound bar by itself is satisfactory honestly. The sub on level 5 playing a good movie and fantastic.
I have both those products . To me. Not much of an upgrade that will change your life
Have the bose ultra + bass module 700 for living room and Q990F for master bedroom, they are top notch.
I have both. Only downside of Bose is the surrond speakers and the cost. The bose ultra soundbar cost as much as the whole samsung system. The bass module 700 is another 900 to get the full potential of the Bose system. Their surround is way too pricy unless you want to wait for a new surround release.
I would say bose smart ultra with bass module but that would exceed your budget. Alternative i can think of is beam gen 2 and sub mini. After having 3 sets of soundbars and subs from tcl, sony, and lg where the sub just dies in 2-3 years, make me now willing to pay extra for modular approach. Another strong aspect of modular approach is your can buy used and upgrade/resell pieces down the line, which is what i did with sonos (just gradually do swaps on marketplace)
I have the Bose setup and really enjoy it. But, if you’re looking to expand to full surround or multi room, I’d recommend Sonos.
With a room that size, I recommend the 700. The 500 doesn’t produce the same low frequencies and may sound boomy in a room that size. The 700 produces lower frequencies w ease, has better definition and quicker attack. You can turn the sub power output down and retain all the frequencies and definition. I have the 500 and 700 in different rooms. I use the 700 in our larger room and the 500 in the smaller. The 500 works in the bigger room, but tends to get boomy because it’s more mid bass frequencies bounce around the room. The 700 fills the room with no boominess.i currently have the output level set to -20 and it sounds great.
I have the Bose setup and returned the Bose surrounds because they weren’t very good. They can’t really produce any mid range and only add atmospheric sounds to the rear. Also, if you’re listening to two channel audio, the Bose setup will not send sounds to the rears. The Samsung is more versatile and more immersive.
I kept the Bose soundbar and bass module because I was hoping Bose was going to release new surrounds (the 700s are 10 years old).
The dialogue on the Bose is great. If your space isn’t big, I’d recommend getting the smart soundbar which is on sale in the US for $419. $400 is a great price for the Ultra, but I’m always leery of buying used electronics. Often times, you’re buying someone else’s problem.
Bose. The bass is subtle and dialogue is amazing. I’ve heard a lot of reviews and people here saying it the best for dialogue too. It’s not as cinematic as Sonos though.
I tried the Bose ultra with the 700 sub. It had amazing clarity on the dialogue but the sound was flat so back it went. Then I tried the Sonos ultra with Gen 4 sub. I hope I got a dud because the dialogue was like someone was talking through a paper towel roll. Horrible and worse than the tv speakers on my Hisense. So I ended up with the Samsung Q800F. Easiest set up, most features, best sound of all three. Plus the cheapest. If I had a better set up in my giant living room, and if it was in stock, I would have tried the q990. But the most important point is how disappointing the Sonos soundbar was. Just thought I’d share my experience.
