Bose SB900 w/ satellites and BM700 checking in. The deep notes and Atmos all sound excellent, but no DTS still kills me on the inside.
r/Soundbars • The most recommended soundbars on Reddit (r/soundbar VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I have the Bose soundbar smart ultra soundbar with the 700 surrounds and bass module. Overall, it sounds amazing. The bass is so strong that it rattles my walls. However, the channel count is only 5.1.2. The rears are mixed surround channels since the soundbar down-mixes 7.1 to 5.1. I've tried the Dolby test tones and rear and surround channels come from the rear speaker only so it does break a little of the immersion however it is not a deal breaker. What may be the dealbreaker is the codec support. Bose only offers Dolby codec support (Digital, Digital plus, TrueHD and Atmos over TrueHD and DD+). This is fine for if you only use streaming apps or game but if you watch Blurays or have a media server to watch lossless content then you won't have DTS support. I'd go with the Sony Bravia Bar 9 since it has a sound you like and you can add the modules down the line but you still have full codec support for Dolby and DTS. Check out the rtings review, they have good sections on how 5.1 and Atmos/upfiring content sounds on a soundbar that will be useful to look at.
r/Soundbars • Soundbar vs. AVR Setup for a Compact Living Room ->I have a bose smart ultra/700 bass/surrounds, a bose smart 900/500/surrounds and q990d q990d blows the bose always except in bass….bose wins bass easily but it’s bananas…all other audio comparisons the q990d waxes both bose systems… eventually, they’ll be replaced by Samsung models as they improve the base… The 990 F wasn’t what I was hoping for… Hopefully they’ll make one more. I can use two subs at some point. Anyhow, the Q990 D/F is bananas and the best sound bar on the market hands-down… No question…
r/Soundbars • Is the Q99d the best thing on the planet? That’s all I see in this community. Does anyone use something different? I have a Bravia Bar 8 for example ->I own a bose smart ultra with bass module 700 and surrounds. It sounds amazing once you find the right settings for your room. I don‘t really have a comparison tough.
r/Soundbars • Bose soundbars ->Bose in white looks so good in my living room. Big fan. On par (slightly better or worse than Sonos depending on the reviewer) and some good deals online for it
r/Soundbars • Looking for a stylish Dolby Atmos soundbar (budget max $1500) ->With my setup, I decided for the smart ultra with the sub. I do want to get the 700 surrounds but decided I'd do that later. I do think the bar has enough base, but also not. Depends how deep you want it. To me it was "good enough" but lacking so I picked up the sub.
r/Soundbars • Looking for a stylish Dolby Atmos soundbar (budget max $1500) ->I have the bose and the 990d; previous model to the 990f. Buy the Samsung. 9/10ths as good for vocals as the bose, but the woofer can add low end, or the rears can be used for surround which will be $$$ with bose and sonos, plus late ar night you can keep it quiet with rear only.
r/Soundbars • Torn between a few options ->I picked up the 75 inch model last October. I paired it with the Bose Smart Ultra soundbar and subwoofer. It looks and sounds fantastic.
r/bravia • Soundbar/speakers to go with Bravia 9 ->Lol. Yeah, hometheater and soundbars dont mix lol. If your budget was a little higher, the ONLY soundbar i would recommend would be the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar. But just the soundbar, is a little over $700. Include the subs and the surrounds, and ur at $2300 lol. U can get much fuller and realistic sound for less with a 5.1 surround setup.
r/Soundbars • Hey guys, I made the mistake of going to the Hometheater snob Reddit. My bad, I apparently needed to be here. Lol ->I’ve had the sennheiser ambeo, Bose smart ultra, and the Samsung q800, in that order. First two were returned for connectivity issues with my newish Samsung tv. The q800 has been great (the ambeo probably had the best surround but only if it connected). Q symphony is amazing. With the first two bars, you could clearly tell the sound was coming from below the TV… q symphony fixes that completely. And the subwoofer is amazing.
r/Soundbars • Has Bose lost its crown? ->I have both. Only downside of Bose is the surrond speakers and the cost. The bose ultra soundbar cost as much as the whole samsung system. The bass module 700 is another 900 to get the full potential of the Bose system. Their surround is way too pricy unless you want to wait for a new surround release.
r/Soundbars • Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar or Samsung HW-Q990F? ->The Sonos is said to be superior. Bar and especially the Eras are more capable than the Bose Surround Speakers. Bose has fallen behind big time, especially regarding their accessories. The Surround Speakers are outdated and their Home speaker line is outdated as well. Atmos is still not a thing, even though it's widely available now. Nonetheless: The BOSE Smart Soundbar Ultra is an awesome soundbar and its sound should make you really happy. The Sonos as of now is just more capable and versatile. Bose needs to step up here, instead of a selling yet another Bluetooth speaker no one asked for.
r/bose • Recommendations to a newbie - is Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar a better choice than the Sonos Arc Ultra Soundbar? ->I’ve heard it and can say that it has great detail and clarity and it’s sub is pretty strong but until they build rears that are bigger than 2 candy bars and have Atmos, I couldn’t buy them.
r/Soundbars • Best Soundbar for $500 budget? ->If you only want a stand-alone soundbar without the sub or rears the Bose would be the best imo
r/Soundbars • Torn between a few options ->Getting the Q990F and not using the rear speakers or the sub is just a waste and if I were to only have the Bar, the Bose Smart Ultra would be my choice by a lot. I’ve heard all 3 and it’s the best choice for what you’re looking for and I’d bet the wife will like its looks the best as well. I normally don’t recommend the Bose because it’s got terrible rear speakers but since you don’t want that, it’s definitely the best choice for what you want
r/Soundbars • Torn between a few options ->Bose Smart Ultra has very impressive bass for a soundbar. I'd still always recommend a subwoofer but if I bought a soundbar with no sub it'd be that one.
r/Soundbars • Soundbar with no subwoofer: Yes or no? ->I had the same experience with the Bose Smart Ultra but ultimately it'd be a thousand pounds more than the Q990F if I got the rear surrounds and the sub also and that's why I settled on the Q990F. Subjectively, to my ears having tested both I liked the sound of the Bose more. Just not enough more to spend that much money. If Bose ever bring out rears that do Atmos I'll probably take the plunge, though.
r/Soundbars • Sonos Arc Ultra Vs Samsung Q990F - My experience ->Ultra. Granted I’m not a bass head and live in an apartment and tried both the 600 and Ultra. Wider soundstage and room correction(not sure if they’ve added it to the Smart). I’m still sometimes surprised at how sounds feel like they’re coming from the sides of my living room. If you feel the bass isn’t enough, you can save up and get the BM but you can’t add to the bar.
r/bose • Smart soundbar + Bass 500 vs. Smart Ultra soundbar ->I purchased an Ultra 4 weeks ago and two weeks later I bought my father a 990 for his birthday. In my opinion, I thought the Bose had a more crisp sound in dialogue and quality build. The 990 was just all around louder and blows you away. It’s packed with speakers and the sub is great. I personally prefer the the sound of Bose more. I think you get what you pay for with that. But as far as just raw volume and bang for your buck, the 990 is unmatched, I’m in an apartment so the Bose is great for me, my dads house is filled out with the Samsung. I think both are great, I just have a preference. The Samsung is probably the better pick if I’m being completely honest.
r/Soundbars • Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar or Samsung HW-Q990F? ->I bought the bose smart ultra recently and love it, i also got the subwoofer 500, i can recommend 👍🏻
r/Soundbars • Help me pick ->In my opinion Bose has lost the plot, my very expensive Bose Ultra Smart soundbar is an absolute waste of time and money, coupled with the fact that Bose customer service has been trained to give you lip service only. They even try to extort more service money out of you after you have changed everything , cables, TV, router and reset all multiple times. Their intermittent connectivity issues are the unfixable problem, it surprises me you have not found the enormous amount of published complaints online whilst you are doing your due diligence...!? I certainly have lesser issues even down to my micro bose speaker and the original app...!
r/Soundbars • Bose soundbars ->If having lots of bass available is important to you, go with the Bose. That subwoofer will shake the room with ease. It plays the deepest bass of the soundbar subs I've experienced (Sonos, Sony, Samsung, others), and I think more than likely has the most power of any soundbar sub as well (except like a Nakamichi dragon or shockwave). If the option of having a bass heavy experience isn't important to you, definitely save the money and go with the 990F.
r/Soundbars • Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar or Samsung HW-Q990F? ->Bose Smart Ultra. It’s great for music. Even better with a sub.
r/Soundbars • Best $1000 soundbar system for music and movies? ->Interesting you threw in B&O which has no sub or rears but everything else you listed has or has the option for rears. I had the 1300x - great soundbar. Mine made popping noises when playing 4k discs though. No idea why or how, but decided to go with bose ultra with 2 700 subs and surrounds. It’s been great - good clarity and sonic sound.
r/Soundbars • Best premium soundbar in 2025? ->You’re going to want a sub for the Bose. Get the 700 sub refurbished on Bose’s site. You won’t be disappointed. Even if you can’t blast it - it will still bring a much better experience. Bose is good for movies and music. The other two - not so much. Don’t worry about an older release…it still competes with top end bars.
r/Soundbars • Torn between a few options ->I love my Bose Smart ultra soundbar they give uh 3 months return window if you don’t like it u can return it. It amazes me the quality of it
r/Soundbars • Best Soundbar for someone new to home theater? ->I got 800F and i am so impressed that i returned my Bose Ultra smart soundbar .I got both at same price and Samsung gives you a subwoofer with it
r/Soundbars • Is the Samsung HW-Q990F/D/C that good or it's just a "Reddit" hype thing? ->Bose smart ultra is amazing
r/Soundbars • Best Soundbar for $500 budget? ->Bose soundbar all day. Just upgraded to the Bose smart ultra soundbar / atmos. Sounds beautiful and looks great too. Beautiful design.
r/Soundbars • This sub recently ->As a stand-alone bar the Bose wins imo but add the rear speakers and new sub for as low as $999 compared to Bose which will cost $2300 plus, it’s no contest imo. Those rear 700 Bose speakers are woefully overpriced and laughably tiny. How can that compare with the Samsung especially with Dolby atmos content? Can’t but some people just like Bose
r/Soundbars • Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar or Samsung HW-Q990F? ->I had the Bose 700 with the 700 sub and 700 surround. Used it for 5 years but was always very dissapointed in the sound. I kept it because it was exspensive to me. This year i purchased the Samsung Q990D and what a world of difference.
r/Soundbars • Bose soundbars ->I am in the same boat. Interested in finding out. I am also have trouble connecting the ARC port on 700 to ARC port on my Sony Bravia 70inch tv. It doesn’t work and Sony is not recognizing the soundbar as a known device for Bravia sync
r/bose • What's the difference between the Bose 550 and the New Smart Soundbar? ->Just for reference, I got used Bose TV Speakers for my parents at $50 a pop with eARC support. These are bad. Minor upgrade to your TV at best. They are worth $40 itself. Yamaha ATS soundbars from eBay are $40 refurbished and they have better sound + subwoofer out. IMO better to get premium soundbars used since they hold value like copper infused gold.
r/buildapcsales • [Speakers] Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Dolby 2.0 - $39.99 - Free shipping for Prime members ->I don’t really follow the market . But for compact speakers Samsungs/LGs do have speakers with center channels (3.0 or more) which help tremendously with dialogue, something that most TV speakers struggle with. I like to get Bose for my parents just purely because they are dead simple to use, well built, and go pretty loud without the risk of permanently damaging them. Hope that helps. eBay refurbs with 20% coupons, Amazon resale clearance when they run extra % off, if you’re not too keen on hitting up facebook marketplace. But you do pay a hefty fee for convenience.
