Yeah no chance, the dialogue is clearer than bose as I tested both of them in an acoustic room, the bose ultra + 700sub and surround and the Sennheiser ambeo max + paradigm sub 12 and sonos arc ultra + gen 4 + 2 era 300s, holy dudes man. Ultra was almost on par with the max, unexpected performance from that small pipe beast, dialogue is clear and the surrounds don't even stat to compare with bose, you already know it's better than bose just by looking at it. Well as for the sub, the sonos sub was definitely better than the bose and was pm par with the sub 12 at 85% volume with the gen 4 pm level 13, the low end was more felt in sonos and the sub 12. Well, one could argue that the sonos did sound better as a whole system but I do think that the Sennheiser is ofcourse better than the sonos bar given its size too. But there is no way you can actually have such a bad experience with the arc ultra, definitely the best I heard after the q990f's bar, the sub is terrible, when tested the 990, didn't even know whether the sub was in or not if not for the drivers being exposed and moving, not something I like as I'm a basshead.
I have a bose smart ultra/700 bass/surrounds, a bose smart 900/500/surrounds and q990d q990d blows the bose always except in bass….bose wins bass easily but it’s bananas…all other audio comparisons the q990d waxes both bose systems… eventually, they’ll be replaced by Samsung models as they improve the base… The 990 F wasn’t what I was hoping for… Hopefully they’ll make one more. I can use two subs at some point. Anyhow, the Q990 D/F is bananas and the best sound bar on the market hands-down… No question…
Interesting you threw in B&O which has no sub or rears but everything else you listed has or has the option for rears. I had the 1300x - great soundbar. Mine made popping noises when playing 4k discs though. No idea why or how, but decided to go with bose ultra with 2 700 subs and surrounds. It’s been great - good clarity and sonic sound.
You’re going to want a sub for the Bose. Get the 700 sub refurbished on Bose’s site. You won’t be disappointed. Even if you can’t blast it - it will still bring a much better experience. Bose is good for movies and music. The other two - not so much. Don’t worry about an older release…it still competes with top end bars.
Bose smart ultra - one of the best dialogue soundbars out there along with single bar immersion. Get dual 700 subs.
I own a bose smart ultra with bass module 700 and surrounds. It sounds amazing once you find the right settings for your room. I don‘t really have a comparison tough.
I have the bose and the 990d; previous model to the 990f. Buy the Samsung. 9/10ths as good for vocals as the bose, but the woofer can add low end, or the rears can be used for surround which will be $$$ with bose and sonos, plus late ar night you can keep it quiet with rear only.
First sound bar was a Sony hts2000. Decent vocals, on its own the bass was weak, but only came alive with sub and satellites, but sub is very boomy. However Sony's bravia app is decent, and you can control levels well. Cheap entry to sound bars, and expandable down the track if this appeals. Went to a Bose smart ultra, has enough bass standard, excellent vocals if you like to watch dialogue heavy TV series at night. Bass is fair, but not outrageous, Just doesn't like being on very low volumes. Finally found a good Samsung q990d used locally for very cheap, nearly as good as the Bose for vocals, the satellites only mode can go down to a whisper, however it takes some serious volume to wake the sub up. May be up your alley. If I had a crazy budget, I'd look at Sonos. No experience with them. Ultimately if you aren't tied to a soundbar, look at floor standing speakers, with at least a class D mini amp with 50w> power per channel, preferably with treble and bass knobs. Neighbour gave me some basic Welling towers, 2 x 6" woofer, tweeter and 8" sub, paired with a cheap Fosi amp from Amazon. Instant step up on volume and quality, albeit without the surround sound. Found some Dali concept floor speakers for dirt cheap online, blew the old pair out the water, I reckon the Neighbours hate me at this point. Great quality. Have a center and rears now, if I can find a good AV receiver I'll be in heaven with good surround. However the amp with bass and treble is key; I can cut bass out almost entirely, but bring it up above and beyond with the turn of a knob, no sub needed. If you're dead set on a soundbar? Bose is a cheap flagship, Samsung q990x combo could be the last you need. Or step to the top with Sonos.
That's fair. Maybe the bose smart ultra might be for you. We used it in the bedroom, decent but not too much bass.
Have a Q990D in the bedroom, good thing is the satellites can run as rear only for quiet watching. Sub doesn't impress me much. Have a bose smart ultra for the living room, great for vocals in tv shiws, movies it does fair. But for loudness I picked up a pair of Dali Concept 8, without a sub they're very loud on a small Fosi amp. Will move to a proper ht amp when funds allow
I picked up the 75 inch model last October. I paired it with the Bose Smart Ultra soundbar and subwoofer. It looks and sounds fantastic.
Lol. Yeah, hometheater and soundbars dont mix lol. If your budget was a little higher, the ONLY soundbar i would recommend would be the Bose Smart Ultra Soundbar. But just the soundbar, is a little over $700. Include the subs and the surrounds, and ur at $2300 lol. U can get much fuller and realistic sound for less with a 5.1 surround setup.
I got the Bose and love it to death. Such balanced sound and the atmos is surprisingly good. No regrets.
I’ve had the sennheiser ambeo, Bose smart ultra, and the Samsung q800, in that order. First two were returned for connectivity issues with my newish Samsung tv. The q800 has been great (the ambeo probably had the best surround but only if it connected). Q symphony is amazing. With the first two bars, you could clearly tell the sound was coming from below the TV… q symphony fixes that completely. And the subwoofer is amazing.
I have both. Only downside of Bose is the surrond speakers and the cost. The bose ultra soundbar cost as much as the whole samsung system. The bass module 700 is another 900 to get the full potential of the Bose system. Their surround is way too pricy unless you want to wait for a new surround release.
