I have the Bose TV Speaker and happy with it in my studio apartment.
I have Bose TV speakers and they sound best several feet away. You may want to concider dedicated PC speakers that are made for up close.
Options: 1. Cheap and Crappy that includes the bar, rear speakers and bass module. You're price point of $80 is not realistic. The starting point for this category in my opinion should be the Hisense HS2100 for $129.99. 2. You can pony up for what i consider the true entry level point. Which would be the Bose TV Speaker for $279. I have had this for 5 years and I have no complaints. Bose has a proprietary dialogue enhancer button on the remote. Works like a charm. 3. Next level up would be the Sonos Arc Beam Gen 2 for $499. This is the bar I am personally going to upgrade to. 4. The final level would be bar, rear speakers and bass module for atleast $600 going all the way up to $1600. Bose Smart Soundbar at $599, Bose Ultra Soundbar at $999, LG S95AR at $1199 and literally all of the Samsung soundbars ranging from $600-$1600. Hope this helps and provides guidance for a first time buyer.
I found a bose tv speaker, open box for 189.00. Works and sounds great.
I bought a Bose tv speaker a few years back and it sucked, it was marginally better than tv speakers but not much, as a laptop soundbar it is not bad though, still lacks bass but I don’t game I watch YouTube and teams calls so yeah it’s fine.
As I’m thinking what to recommend, I would say don’t get the Bose Tv speaker bar as I bought one for my mother last Xmas and as I played it I literally couldn’t tell that it was on. I had to crank it to realize it was working but it made no improvement to the sound at all and forget what you read on Amazon because most of those reviews are for another soundbar by Bose. I know it’s cheap price wise but I would rather turn the tv louder than listen to that pos. Other Bose soundbars can be found but that one is awful
I totally loved mine. But it depends on your situation. I live in an apartment where I can't have a thundering subwoofer. Surround sound didn't matter to me either. What was really important to me was to have clear speech since so many movies are what I refer to as "whispers and screams" and Bose really delivered on that.
