I just returned my Hisense AX5100Gs for being overall a very horrible low quality sound system. But one thing it had going for it was its rather good Implementation of Dolby Atmos, being a real 5.1 system with rear satellites and all. Looking for a replacement I came across the massively reduced Philips TAB7908/10 Soundbar. Which is a 5.1.2 system but unlike the Hisense with its dedicated rear satellites, the Philips has all its non-subwoofer drivers in the Soundbar. My question is what's the Dolby Atmos experience like with those? Will I feel the fact that the rear channels are still in front of me? Can a Surround Soundbar produce similar results or should I keep looking for a solution that has dedicated rear satellites?
r/Soundbars • How close does a 5.1.2 Soundbar come to a real surround system for Dolby Atmos or DTS Virtual X? ->I see. the Hisense had 2 actual satellites that I placed to the rear so it was a proper 5.1 system whereas the Philips have the Center, front, upwards AND rear channels all built into the soundbar with the rear channels firing sideways at an angle. I was skeptical about whether this would give me anywhere close of the results I had with the Hisense in terms of Dolby Atmos support. Yes the Hisense did not have any upwards firing speakers but the surround experience in and of itself was still jaw droppingly amazing for me, even though literally everything else about the soundbar sucked. I am now looking at the Ultimea Nova S80 which is a 5.1.2 system with a soundbar that includes upwards firing speakers, a subwoofer AND 2 rear sattelites. I live in a single bedroom apartment with strict noise regulations so my room is small, and I neither have the space nor the money for a proper home theater setup. I just want something that "gets the job done" without any major hiccups. So I hope the S80s are good enough because reviews all look very positive. if they can emulate the experience of the Hisense without sounding like utter dogshit, then I am happy. The Hisense were pretty much unlistenable, especially when watching dialogue heavy content such as news.
r/Soundbars • How close does a 5.1.2 Soundbar come to a real surround system for Dolby Atmos or DTS Virtual X? ->What is delay on TV? I suggest trying EQ:movie Also I strongly recommend to increase surround sound to +3 couse it's real game changer.
r/Soundbars • My Hisense HS5100 Review ->Actually I tried but it's not working like that. My TV speakers always off. So maybe my TV model do not support this option. It's kind of weird because there is no reference which models of Hisense Tvs support Dolby Atmos with this sound bar
r/Soundbars • My Hisense HS5100 Review ->Basically, I wanted something cheap for my bedroom, as I have been surprisingly using it quite a bit to watch movies and occasionally play games. I was tired of using headphones, and I already have a Hisense U8K that I love, so I thought why not get this bar for $200CAD? If it sucks, I'll just return it and spend $600+ for something good. For reference, these are the speakers I currently own: -Monitor Audio Bronze 50's for my turntable. -Edifier 1700bt for my living room TV speakers (working on a real HT set-up for that area). Much to my surprise, the soundbar isn't a pile of garbage. The mids could be better, but it reproduces dialogue clearly in movies and games thanks to the centre channel; it handled my CD of the NightFly pretty beautifully; and the rears get surprisingly loud and punchy. Even the sub gets put to work at it's default setting. I tested the system using The Joker; as I know, it has a 5.1 audio option in the menus, and man, for my first time using a 5.1 setup, I was blown away by how immersive it was. The rears were mostly used for ambient tracks and to enhance the heavily used musical score, but really, you need to hear it to believe it; I was in a bubble of sound. I know a lot of people here are budget buyers, so if you see this thing for cheap, I would give it a shot. I think it's worth it over the $300 budget soundbar-only systems if you want something to really immerse you in a film or game. I tested a cheaper LG with rears; I can't forget what it was called, but that thing was flat, and I don't believe it had a centre channel. Below are the settings I used for the bar: -Surround speakers +3 -Eq set to music -Treble +1 -Bass +0 -Delay on my TV set to 6
r/Soundbars • My Hisense HS5100 Review ->Lol, it ends up using the t.v speakers along with the soundbar to "do Atmos" Sounds horrific and I would recommend avoiding the option entirely.
r/Soundbars • My Hisense HS5100 Review ->We purchased a 75” Hisense U8 in later 2024 and it’s surprised the hell out of me. It was an NYT Wirecutter top pick for 2024. PQ is impressive and it has an impressive dynamic range— really dark shadows to eye-searing brights. We paired it with the Hisense Dolby Atmos 5.1 soundbar (includes subwoofer and two rear speakers) and that system has also astonished me with how good it is. Previously we had a structured wire 7.1 Yamaha speaker system run by a Sony receiver and I was worried that a mere “soundbar” would not satisfy.
r/4kbluray • what is the go to 65 inch TV and sound system these days? ->I actually wasn't even looking at this company until recently. My dad got a 5.1 setup from the same brand and said it is decent and the sub does alot more than the one I got with a 5.1 from Hisense. That's why I starting looking at them. Based on other comments I think I'll either try it anyway and return it or just steer clear
r/Soundbars • This soundbar good? Or at least good for the price? ->For $96 there is a hisense 5.1 with a sub and two speakers. Hisense is absolutely cheap , but it was a much difference to me compared to price value of the TCL S45H
