I guess I should have clarified, not like actual TV but like shows and YouTube. Lol Glad to hear you are using an Apple TV and it’s going good as that would be my case as well. I’m anal about the way things look as I don’t want things to stand out and want them to blend in. Hope it will look good in my area. Ordered one to try it out. Just want more people to do wireless surrounds! I guess in picture the legs for the sub look really skinny and flimsy but that could be the pictures.

I loved my 9.1 and only changed the setup a few years back as I had cracking issues. I did try out the JBl 1000mk2 and it sound great but I use an Apple TV and would always output sound from all speakers and just sounds echoey. If you don’t use an Apple TV, may not be an issue. If I can give my 2 cents, in no particular order but if you want to “upgrade” Sonos, Q990F and the Bose Ultra soundbar were my favorite. However if you like the the JBL 9.1 I don’t see why you wouldn’t like the JBL 1000mk2. Vocals for sure way better and more clear sound compared to 9.1. Sub is amazing.

I have both. Two q990d both purchased after having the JBL bar 1000 for a year In my ears the bar 1000 is clearly inferior Bass is heavier in the JBL but to me it sounds cheap or overpowering most of the time With the q990d I feel is better in every way But I do feel like I needs bit more oomph If I was Best Buy I would try to move my JBL bar 1000 stock, the q990d will sell on it’s own

I had the jbl bar 1000 and I enjoyed it. Switched that out for Sennheiser, didn’t like it, got the Sonos arc ultra sub 4 and rears, didn’t like it. Got the q990d and I freaking love it.

You can squeeze more value out of your $ by buying open box from Best Buy, preferably for pick up so you can inspect the item, but you can always just return it as well. Open Box items come with the same manufacturer's warranty at Best Buy. With that said, any soundbar would be an upgrade from your TV. I also had size constraints so I did quite a bit of searching for something smaller and I've found that JBL consistently makes the sound bars with the smallest foot prints, though they do make up for the size difference with large subwoofers. I ended up going with the $800 JBL 1000MK2, but the $250 [JBL 2.1 Deep Bass](https://www.bestbuy.com/product/jbl-2-1-channel-soundbar-with-wireless-subwoofer-black/J7LXFW2FZC/sku/6532533?utm_source=feed?extStoreId=482&ref=212&loc=19231686191&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19224039042&gbraid=0AAAAAD-ORIiFntMuE4cRc4cLPi44RSjNd&gclid=Cj0KCQiAoZDJBhC0ARIsAERP-F9lN3BuIzlv0PsTdawZSiNmG_Ksel9zjKN6wXiVqwXhSZMkotuecN0aAkTWEALw_wcB) might be a good option for you.

I have a JBL 1000 in a room about that size and it’s pretty bloody good for the price

This sub has a weird obsession of the Q990x series…I tried both in my room, few weeks apart before getting a Nakamichi Dragon, and the JBL Mk2 was better overall for me than the 990F. The 12” subwoofer helps a ton, the Atmos was *slightly* better in some instances with the q990; but overall, I appreciated and liked the Mk2 much more. Being able to place the surrounds wherever I wanted was huge, and I liked the JBL app more too. The room correction and calibration it does is pretty good as well, biggest thing with all of them is providing the correct input so they can give you the correct output. Playing music through my Samsung tv via iPhone vs playing through Apple TV 4K was completely different. If you want to spend some coin and get something that will really blow you away, check out the Dragon. The price/performance ratio isn’t the greatest, but it’s the closest thing I could find that could match my old actual home theater 7.2.2 setup short of the sub stage. I went with the one that came with the quad 8’s, and have modified it a ton lol basically just using the 8’s amps for inputs to a Crown XLS2502 that’s driving the 8’s for 200hz-80hz, and using dual 600w Monoprice 15’s modified to have a 15” passive radiator instead of their port for 70hz and down. Sub stage ran through an Anti-Mode 2.0 for full room correction and EQ. I like to tinker with stuff too much and it’s definitely not healthy. Don’t go down this path, nothing is ever sufficient 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

I made the same decision a few years ago (actually had an onkyo receiver as well) I settled on a JBL 1000 myself and dont regret it one bit. There is a newer model just released with more channels and it comes in cheaper than the rest. [https://uk.jbl.com/BAR-1000MK2.html](https://uk.jbl.com/BAR-1000MK2.html)

I had JBL and sent straight back next day maybe it’s just my opinion but was not loud enough it only went to max volume 30 and that wasn’t even that loud Samsung goes al the way to 100 as is loud as The JBL is way to bass heavy and the clarity is poor

i go with JBL 1000 mk2 or 1300mk2. When there are innovations like removable speakers, why would I want extra rear wires? To me, Samsung looks like a 2010 soundbar — I don’t like the design, and I don’t like the cables. According to Rtings, JBL is better for movies and dialogue, which is the main thing that matters, plus it’s a minimalist system — that’s number one for me. Even if I lose 5% of sound quality, I honestly don’t care at all. No matter what numbers people show on YouTube, Samsung and Harman/JBL are still sister companies — the engineering principles are basically the same. The big difference for me is the wireless detachable speakers, and that’s top tier. All systems should follow this example.

The JBL Bars with detachable wireless speakers and subwoofer are sick.
