£200 is far too less for a decent quality soundbar as soundbar alone won't produce enough bass which is essential for true cinematic experience. I recently bought JBL bar 1000 MK2 directly from JBL website at 50% discount which was otherwise very expensive in Currys and Argos. It comes with a powerful subwoofer. Anything under £500 won't produce decent dolby atmos. I like Bose but that was over £1200 with subwoofer.
This soundbar has a ton of Bass. Bass goes from -5 to +5, at +2 the bass is great and +3 bass is amazing. You can feel the beat in your chest.
I have the JBL Bar 1000MK2 and I feel the same way about dialogue. It has phenomenal bass but clarity on dialogue is missing. I have to crank the volume up to 14 before words can be heard but it’s still not enough. The soundbar shouldn’t have to be around 50% volume before words can start being understood. I’ve been researching and for dialogue Samsung soundbars win with Sonos coming in second place. I’m good to switch to one of those brands just still trying to decide which one.
It’s pretty sick. The Dolby Atmos is mind blowing. Don’t think I’ll ever enjoy movies anymore without it!
I guess I should have clarified, not like actual TV but like shows and YouTube. Lol Glad to hear you are using an Apple TV and it’s going good as that would be my case as well. I’m anal about the way things look as I don’t want things to stand out and want them to blend in. Hope it will look good in my area. Ordered one to try it out. Just want more people to do wireless surrounds! I guess in picture the legs for the sub look really skinny and flimsy but that could be the pictures.
I loved my 9.1 and only changed the setup a few years back as I had cracking issues. I did try out the JBl 1000mk2 and it sound great but I use an Apple TV and would always output sound from all speakers and just sounds echoey. If you don’t use an Apple TV, may not be an issue. If I can give my 2 cents, in no particular order but if you want to “upgrade” Sonos, Q990F and the Bose Ultra soundbar were my favorite. However if you like the the JBL 9.1 I don’t see why you wouldn’t like the JBL 1000mk2. Vocals for sure way better and more clear sound compared to 9.1. Sub is amazing.
Honestly these are all good value. It's basically up to what u feel is best suited. The q990d is the best all round soundbar. For bass u gonna want to go with the jbl 1000mk2(i wouldnt get the 1000 cause its older now) Between the LG the S95AR is better period, its also newer. Don't get the q930 as the jbl 1000 mk2 and s95AR would be the better choice. Imo, i think I would go with the LG S95AR, and if u like a lot of bass go with the JBL 1000 mk2
You can squeeze more value out of your $ by buying open box from Best Buy, preferably for pick up so you can inspect the item, but you can always just return it as well. Open Box items come with the same manufacturer's warranty at Best Buy. With that said, any soundbar would be an upgrade from your TV. I also had size constraints so I did quite a bit of searching for something smaller and I've found that JBL consistently makes the sound bars with the smallest foot prints, though they do make up for the size difference with large subwoofers. I ended up going with the $800 JBL 1000MK2, but the $250 [JBL 2.1 Deep Bass](https://www.bestbuy.com/product/jbl-2-1-channel-soundbar-with-wireless-subwoofer-black/J7LXFW2FZC/sku/6532533?utm_source=feed?extStoreId=482&ref=212&loc=19231686191&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19224039042&gbraid=0AAAAAD-ORIiFntMuE4cRc4cLPi44RSjNd&gclid=Cj0KCQiAoZDJBhC0ARIsAERP-F9lN3BuIzlv0PsTdawZSiNmG_Ksel9zjKN6wXiVqwXhSZMkotuecN0aAkTWEALw_wcB) might be a good option for you.
Nice. I picked up the $900 JBL 1000MK2 recently since I wanted a soundbar with a smaller footprint. It might also be worth considering. Note the dimensions of the soundbar when you make your purchase since your console seems a bit narrow & LG TVs notoriously have short mounts with low clearance. The soundbar might just be tall enough to obscure the bottom of your TV. If I remember correctly, the LG C4 has 2.25ins of clearance, and from my research, only the JBL & midrange Samsung soundbars (Q800D) are short enough to not obscure your view, not counting the budget options.
I made the same decision a few years ago (actually had an onkyo receiver as well) I settled on a JBL 1000 myself and dont regret it one bit. There is a newer model just released with more channels and it comes in cheaper than the rest. [https://uk.jbl.com/BAR-1000MK2.html](https://uk.jbl.com/BAR-1000MK2.html)
I just got the 1000 mk2 and I’m very happy with it. This is coming from a first time soundbar user who was staunchly pro proper home theater setup.
i go with JBL 1000 mk2 or 1300mk2. When there are innovations like removable speakers, why would I want extra rear wires? To me, Samsung looks like a 2010 soundbar — I don’t like the design, and I don’t like the cables. According to Rtings, JBL is better for movies and dialogue, which is the main thing that matters, plus it’s a minimalist system — that’s number one for me. Even if I lose 5% of sound quality, I honestly don’t care at all. No matter what numbers people show on YouTube, Samsung and Harman/JBL are still sister companies — the engineering principles are basically the same. The big difference for me is the wireless detachable speakers, and that’s top tier. All systems should follow this example.
It's easy, because you live in a apartment go with the 1000. 1300 is to much, I had to down grade because I moved into a apartment, I couldn't play it to it's full potensial and the bass was to heavy, but it's up to you, just my opinion.
