JBL - Bar 1000MK2 (JBLBAR1000M2BLKAM)

I guess I should have clarified, not like actual TV but like shows and YouTube. Lol Glad to hear you are using an Apple TV and it’s going good as that would be my case as well. I’m anal about the way things look as I don’t want things to stand out and want them to blend in. Hope it will look good in my area. Ordered one to try it out. Just want more people to do wireless surrounds! I guess in picture the legs for the sub look really skinny and flimsy but that could be the pictures.

I loved my 9.1 and only changed the setup a few years back as I had cracking issues. I did try out the JBl 1000mk2 and it sound great but I use an Apple TV and would always output sound from all speakers and just sounds echoey. If you don’t use an Apple TV, may not be an issue. If I can give my 2 cents, in no particular order but if you want to “upgrade” Sonos, Q990F and the Bose Ultra soundbar were my favorite. However if you like the the JBL 9.1 I don’t see why you wouldn’t like the JBL 1000mk2. Vocals for sure way better and more clear sound compared to 9.1. Sub is amazing.

I have the MK2 and am very happy with it! Bass is very powerful, I keep it on 2/5 and it has plenty of impact for me. Surround sound is fantastic, though I couldn't tell you exactly how it compares vs. MK1 or the competition. Hoping some professional reviews will be posted soon.

Tbh I don't watch too much regular TV, mostly streaming services (Netflix, Disney, Apple TV) with Dolby Atmos content -- for that it is fantastic. Have no complaints at all. Based purely on reviews I assume the Q990 reigns supreme for sound quality, but same as you I really value the flexibility of the detachable rear speakers with the Bar 1000. Design wise it looks really clean, the rounded edges are a good look and it's not too shiny or glossy. Imo much better than the Samsung for example. What about the feet on the sub? Have not noticed anything particular about them?

Neat! Will be interesting to see how the Bar 1000 is going to compare. Happy to help anytime, let me know if there are further questions. One tip for the JBL Bar setup is that for calibration step 1 to not put the rears beside you as indicated, but in front of you nearer to the soundbar. And then step 2 as indicated. For me this really improved the strength of the surround sound. Might be worth playing around with in any case.

Have no idea really... maybe it's more of a pre-MK2 issue indeed. Guess just something to keep in mind in case there are issues with surround strength. But in general I really enjoy the easy settings and being able to adjust bass/rear/atmos strength.

Very clear. You can disable “Pure Voice” mode in the app, but I keep it on, it’s a subtle but noticeable improvement on clarity imo.

Hmm, I have set everything to Passthrough on the LG… not sure I noticed any issues?

I just switched from the Harman Kardon Citation series to the JBL Bar 1000 MK2 and the difference is honestly massive. The bass on this thing is incredible, especially for movies. It hits hard without sounding muddy, and you can really feel it during action scenes. It adds a depth I was missing before. Voices are clear, the overall sound is more dynamic, and the surround effect with the detachable rears works really well. It actually feels like a proper home theater now. Wasn’t sure what to expect when I bought it, but I’m seriously impressed.

I have both. Two q990d both purchased after having the JBL bar 1000 for a year In my ears the bar 1000 is clearly inferior Bass is heavier in the JBL but to me it sounds cheap or overpowering most of the time With the q990d I feel is better in every way But I do feel like I needs bit more oomph If I was Best Buy I would try to move my JBL bar 1000 stock, the q990d will sell on it’s own

I had the jbl bar 1000 and I enjoyed it. Switched that out for Sennheiser, didn’t like it, got the Sonos arc ultra sub 4 and rears, didn’t like it. Got the q990d and I freaking love it.

I have a JBL 1000 in a room about that size and it’s pretty bloody good for the price

I had JBL and sent straight back next day maybe it’s just my opinion but was not loud enough it only went to max volume 30 and that wasn’t even that loud Samsung goes al the way to 100 as is loud as The JBL is way to bass heavy and the clarity is poor

For my needs I got the JBL BAR 1000. Sounds really good.

I just want to say, i bought the JBL 1000 and i am loving it. If you, like me, dont have a big apartment and have no way of installing back speakers, this is the perfect purchase.

Apparently the Samsung Q990D is the gold standard. I don't have one, but I LOVE my JBL bar 1000.

seconded. the sony does have better bass than the 930F, but the 930F has a better bubble surround experience. The samsung would suck for stuff like rock though, the bass isn't good enough. It's decent for movies etc, not so much for music Have a listen to the 930F, the sony system 6 and the jbl 1000, you should be able to get that one for about 64k (slightly outside your budget) and see which sound profile you enjoy. The JBL is kinda decent for your needs (excellent bass decent surrounds), but the dialogues on that thing can feel a bit recessed. The sony is decent over all, no issues for me but for the single HDMI port. Samsung I have put down my thoughts on already. would suggest staying away from LG, their bars used to be quite excellent, but they have started messing up since the LGsp8a and such were launch. The sound doesn't feel full enough.

in what universe are you living that the 990F or D is costing 104000. Either way, your money to waste, LG does look nice on paper, but sounds worse, samsung can be had for 75 78k easy, but has a middling bass. The jbl 1000 has great bass but a little recessed dialog. All the best.

I've got the JBL bar 1000. Basically, it's the same at the 9.1 but just a newer version. They are brilliant!

JBL. I have the Bar 1000, and I think it's great! Its also really hard to find decent reviews on it.

JBL Bar 1000 has wireless rear speakers that are battery powered. You recharge by pulling it into the bar. Should last long enough for most activities that would benefit from rears.

Indeed JBL is a good option. We have 2 at home and are very happy with it. Incredibly better than our previous Sonos setup we got rid off because of the app issues which are still not solved despite what influencers are telling everywhere. Be aware that the JBL Bar 1300 (the first one not the Mark II) has a center channel issue, making the voices not very clear. This model seems to be avoided. That’s whe we got the Bar 1000 instead.

I had the JBL Bar 1000 (and also the Bar 5.1 w/ wireless surrounds + sub). Both sounded great, but both had frequent connectivity issues with the wireless surrounds. They would often have weird crackling sounds in them. I thought it was 5ghz inference but I turned the 5ghz band off on my router, and the wireless speakers still had issues. Also, the battery in my wireless surrounds wore out after 2-3 years so I had to plug them in using USB cables. I would not recommend JBL unfortunately. I would recommend the Q990D/F.

Have you considered JBL 1000? I think it's a much better choice. Got it a few days ago, absolutely amazing and I have a very similar structure and dimensions.

So I made the mistake of taking the wife with me down the Best buy to listen to a couple sound bars. Long story short we ended up picking up JBL bar 1000 after driving 50 miles to another Best buy who had an open box model 😅

I was originally going to snag a Poseidon D80 boom model, however the wife heard the JBL Bar 1000 at Best buy and was hooked. I still wasn't able to justify the 1200 price tag though. Luckily we found an open box model for 850 at the last Best buy offering in about 50 miles from our spot and purchased that guy. I was hoping to find a display somewhere of the Ultimea to here it live

I bought the JBL Bar 1000 a year+ ago and truly enjoy the sound quality.

The truth is that the vast majority of people who have JBL Bars with removable rear speakers don't know the trick to configure them, just place the rear speakers where you will sit when calibrating, and then in the position they will be in, just so the rear speaker has powerful and loud audio. I have a JBL Bar 1000 and before doing this trick I also criticized the immersive effect, and yes you need to activate PureVoice for some films and yes, you need to consume Remux or 7.1 content to get maximum quality

All I can say is that I tried Onn soundbar at cad110 and then JBL soundbar costing CAD 260. I returned them both because bass sound was good but I couldn’t understand a word of any dialog. I returned them both and bought JBL bar1000 at $1k. My conclusion is that cheap soundbar will never satisfy you and not worth it

Have you downloaded the Jbl one app? In the app there should be an equalizer. For my model (jbl 1000) the equalizer is 7 band. So the middle Band 1k is for voice. If I feel some content has low voice, I usually increase the voice bands. I would also suggest playing with different content because they don’t all sound the same. I feel like downloaded torrent movies usually have very low voice and loud actions on mine for example. Also want to mention the effect button on the remote. I’m not sure if your model has this, there’s a button with a Dolby DD logo on it. It makes the surround effect more or less. That’s cause u don’t have rear speakers. 1000 and 1300 side speakers come off… urs don’t have those right? I have the 1000 and when I unplug the side speakers and place behind me it’s a very nice atmos coverage. I’m in an apartment.

I have the Jbl bar 1000. 1300 is same price as Q990D and it’s better in my opinion. Edit: unless the tv is Samsung. If the tv is Samsung, then I would go for the Samsung q990D. Because with the Q-symphony added it becomes a lot better.

Hey, wondering if your rear speakers are discharging at the same level or not when you are looking at the Jbl one app? It seems some of us have this issue and not sure how widespread it is. Thanks 🤝

Saw a replacement battery for Jbl on the internet for 22$ 🤷‍♂️ I mean I don’t know how easy it would be to replace… But my rears last for like two days without returning back to the dock right now and they are about a month old… maybe after a year they will start losing their capacity just like a cellphone does I guess. My only complain with the Jbl bar is that one of the speaker battery discharges faster 🙊

Im happy with my jbl 1000   soundbar.  Great for movies like  top gun 2. 

Im happy with my jbl 1000 soundbar has a high price of $1800. But  better than paying $5000  for a soundbar. Sometimes you can find  a jbl 1000 soundbar  for  less than $1800 on amazon

I've got the 1000. As long as they go back in the same spots calibrated only once.

I have a JBL Bar 1000 and I love it. My room is small though. So it gives me close to movie theater sound. Room size matters with soundbars.

Apart from the massive floor rumble (play independence day part 1 opening scene) on jbl, one will always struggle on dialogue clarity and absence of speaker levels on jbl. Smsung 990 is a true winner. Even better - take samsung 930b/c/d and save even more cash to enjoy an extremely good soundbar that samsung provides!

I have a JBL Bar 1000 and for what it’s worth I think it’s great (never had anything better).

You’ll notice the soundstage is more narrow as the 1000 does not have side firing speakers like the others you mentioned do.

That is a great price and must have been priced wrong, love the Bar 1000, one feature I appreciate and use is the night time feature.

I'm in the same boat brother. I went with the JBL 1000 it sounds great for movies and better with music.

Was planning to replace this as I moved to a new house and I tried jbl 1000 and had to return the jbl . Have high ceilings so still searching an apt replacement for this.

I had same requirement. Not an audiophile and wanted to have decent audio via soundbar. Went with jbl bar 1000 and I'm more than happy with my choice. Music is excellent to my needs. Movies are on next level with detachable rear speakers. Try it out. PS. People were complaining that jbl are to much on bass. True but you have 5 levels of bass to adjust and also eq in app to even do more tweaks.
