I have a bar 800, have had it for 3 years, no complaints… several people have told me my sound system is awesome and my stepdad was worrying about waking my neighbours (detached house) Unless youre in a mansion or something it’s amazing.. My living room is an open space of 9 meters X 5 meters…
Give or take, a small to medium living room... my new place, the main living space is open plan, so it's like kitchen, dining, living in a 17X36 room, it's enormous, I have a Q800 with add on rear's and it's loud but it's not a "cinema experience" per se, the extra space stops you getting that percussive impact from the sub and there is an imbalance between the left and right channels because one of them bounces off a wall and the other disappears into the ether. You want larger speakers with greater capability to move air, capturing the full range of sound. In my second living room, I have a 12X12ish room that is fairly soft, and I have a JBL 800 in there, and that thing fucking crushes. The space is better for creating immersion
The 500 is ok, if you really need more sound then the bar 800 is pretty dope, I have one in a pretty big living room (5x5 meters) and it fills the space well, saw them on sale today for like 700 AUD somewhere… compared with like 2k for the Samsung… don’t get me wrong the Samsung IS better but if you don’t wanna spend the dough you’d have to have a pretty crazy space to not get enough sound out of the 800
LG invited me to attend this event and covered my accommodation as well as part of my travel expenses. All opinions are my own. This week I have been lucky enough to be invited to the LG showcase event at the Australian Museum in Sydney on March 17th. I was there to see and hear the new LG Sound Suite. The full Sound Suite is an impressive experience that really lets you experience full Dolby Atmos. I have experienced Dolby Atmos before the most recent being the JBL Bar 800 mk2 which is a soundbar with detachable speakers that can be placed behind you as rear speakers a subwoofer and if I remember correctly 4 upwards firing speakers for the Atmos effect. To say the LG sound suite blew that setup out of the water is an understatement and the truth is the ripples could be heard clearly receding into the distance. Listen to the LG sound suite with Dolby Atmos content is quite the experience. The demonstration videos had images of balls spiralling around the screen, shooting off overhead and the like and the sounds followed perfectly but then that is to be expected with a demonstration designed to show off the system. We also tried out some non Dolby Atmos content and while it didn’t have the same impact as the demo clips or Content made with Atmos, it sounded great and vocals were clear and well separated. The modern, minimalist design and ambient lighting is not going to look garish and out of place in most modern lounge rooms. The full suite at the moment uses the soundbar as the hub and connects wirelessly to the powered subwoofer and satellite speakers. The setup on display had the soundbar, subwoofer, 2 M7 satellite speakers either side of the soundbar and finally 2 M5 satellite speakers at the rear. This full setup is, as expected, exceptional. The true beauty of the system however is not the full system, as amazing as it is, but rather that it is modular and customisable. If you have a small room and can only fit the soundbar and a sub, the building Ai analyses the room and adjusts its output accordingly. If you don’t want a soundbar under your LG tv cluttering up the clean aesthetic then the tv can be used as the hub and send the sound to the satellites. On a budget and can’t afford the full setup, the Ai analysis adjusts. We had some fun moving the speakers around and using different combinations of speakers to test this functionality out as well and it works. I’m also told that future updates to the range will also be compatible with the current speakers so if you buy some of the range this year with the intention of adding to it later there is less risk that the new components won’t work with what you have. Great news for those of us on a budget. For me the only downside to the LG Sound Suite is the lack of physical connectivity. I am one of those rare users that favours physical media over streaming, in particular my precious records, but the soundbar lacks any analog connections only having one hdmi and one usbc port. Definitely not a deal breaker for most but disappointing for me. Overall I see this product is aimed at someone that wants great cinema sound with a simple setup that they can add to and customise to their needs and wallet.
Probably not but it is what I have available to compare it too and I can see the LG sound suite appealing to the same people that would be looking the JBL
I got the q935d a couple of days ago, it’s great ! Tested JBL bar800 mk2 but q935d is better for me.
I’ve had Q935D and now I have 995F, I had a JBL bar 800 mk2 but return it just because I didn’t like dialog sound. For me Samsung was way better, it also have possibilities to adjust it more in smart things app. You can adjust Chanel level and there is a choice to enable/disable voice amplification. For me it’s more than fine with this disabled
Hi. I’ve ordered a Samsung S95F and will soon get it. Started with buying a JBL soundbar that I tested with my old tv. The one I got was JBL bar 800 mk2. It was a good soundbar but I wasn’t really happy with the speech sound. Bought a Samsung Q935D and this is the one I use now. The all around sound is better with Samsung, JBL had more bass. I didn’t really like the concept of its detachable rear speakers with battery. Sound wise it’s great when you could place them anywhere you want but when attached to soundbar the speech sound bad. I like dedicated rear speakers more. Though a have ordered a Samsung tv I think a Samsung bar is the best option. Haven’t tried q symphony yet but I think it’s great to have that option
I started my soundbar path with JBL bar 800 mk2. Overall it’s a good soundbar, plenty of bass but I wasn’t satisfied with dialog and rear when they was mounted to the bar. They wasn’t especially loud when I had them placed out either. Tried Samsung q935D and this was much better in my ears. Lower bass but much better dialog and permanent rear speakers with only power cable. Samsung also have more sound settings via SmartThings app and I really like my own tweaks regarding sound
I had JBL bar 800 mk2 for a while but returned it. Wasn’t happy with dialog and didn’t like its battery driven rears. I have the room for permanent rears and that suits me better. As for dialog I thought it was distorted, especially when rears was connected to soundbar some how. Overall sound was great, good bass and so on but my primary use is tv so dialog is important to me. But this is in my ears. If you have the possibility to buy it from a store with a return policy it could suit you
Yes, you are absolutely right but my tv room has the space for permanent rears and I’m not up for having unit with built in battery on charge all the time. It a risk factor even if it’s small. I went for Samsung Q995F as my final set up and I’m so happy with it. Maybe there was something wrong with my JBL 800 mk2 but my Q995F has a way better dialog
I have q995f and I’m very happy with it. Don’t have any experience with JBL 1300 but I’ve had a JBL 800 mk2. For me Samsung has better dialog and I like to have permanent rears and not have to place them when needed. But I’m sure they both are great options, it’s more a choice what setup suits you
Ultimea for me. Bought last year D80 boom. But if you prefer with height up firing Speakers get the sky wave x series. Besides affordability without breaking a bank but standard Dolby Atmos speakers is my preference for now. But if you have extra budget. Get the bar 800mk2 or 1000 of JBL. With regards to your preferred brand against LG, Sony theater 6 is better but extra functionality of Sony features will require Sony TV. Nevertheless its all good. Check also Polk magnifi series.
Jbl mk2 800 and q930f both are soild choice.both are mid range soundbars. Q930f u cant play the games .u will not get disappoint from these 2 soundbars.
Try to find jbl mk2 800. New model
Small room then mid size soundbar q930f,jbl mk2 800 model.no more answer and question .problem will solve.what type of model tv do u have?
Always Go With Newer Model Because They Find Out Some Bugs They Fix In next Version. After Taking Old One You Won't Gate Any Service Support Due To. Replacement Parts Shortage. Than They Will Definitely Give New Model As A Replacement 😂
I meant that older models sometimes face spare-parts availability issues once discontinued. In my experience with Samsung/JBL products, newer revisions usually have longer firmware and service support. That’s the only reason I suggested going with the newer model—not saying older ones won’t get support at all.
Nice how many detachable speakers were there. Do they get loud. I got the JBL bar 800 mk2 and thought the detachable speakers need to be louder like they sound in that mode that plays through them only. Other then that it seems good. I emailed support and asked them to add a option for full speaker mode with much louder detachable speakers. The rep said he passed it into the software guys. I have my fingers crossed for that.
go for jbl bar 800 or samsung q800/930, jbl have excellent bass while samsung have excellent clarity
