I currently have the jbl bar 9.1 and it’s all I need
I would like to know how Its better compared to my jbl 9.1 2020
How are you liking it for just normal TV watching? Yeah that’s what I’m hoping for as well. Only seen some sponsored shorts posted. Lol I had the JBL 9.1 and loved it but had a crackling sound. Had to start looking and got the Q990C and sounds amazing but I do want a normal looking living space area where the rear speakers aren’t always out. I found a way to make discrete but still. How are you liking the design and color? Picture wise looks shiny sometimes. Weird question but what are your thoughts on the sub feet?
The “measurement” I use when I get a soundbar is how it sounds for everything I watch, listen and play. A lot of soundbars excel in one but not as great as the other. After it’s the sound quality and bubble it creates. Sonos excel at all of those. Sony with their soundbars that I’ve personally listen to were great at times and others just sounded very off. I did have a JBL 9.1 and loved it after which I had a Q990C. I personally think the tech Sonos uses produces the most cinematic sound where I’m glued to the content and not listening to the sound. This does not mean the other options are bad and at the end of the day it’s going to come down to the sound you like. But I’d say Sonos is one of the best soundbars and system you can get.
The only person that has to like your sound system is you. I have a JBL 9.1 sound bar system.. I think it sounds fantastic and it has impressed everyone that's come over. You're very unlikely to have an audiophile come over and start chewing you out. You got a very nice sound system. The truth is you would have to shell out a decent amount of cash for full sized speakers and put some holes in your ceiling to get appreciably better
I own the 9.1 and have for over a year now. It sounds great and I have the sub set up behind my couch and it does the job. The sound from the bar is decent and it does a good job of sending the sound around but I find the detachable surround speakers to be a slight annoyance. You have to remember to put them back each day or they will die, so unless I'm watching an epic movie or some mind-melting music I leave them attached. It is nice to be able to position them in any formation though. My friend has had 2 of the Q series and they are superior quality but also twice as expensive. In my bedroom I am using the LG S60TR 5.1 system and it might be the room acoustics but it sounds better to me. It has the wireless sub like the JBL but also has 2 wireless satellite surround speakers as well. I run the sound bar under the TV, the sub along one wall, and the surrounds are on each side of the bed. These are an amazing amount of sound for the money ($250 USD) and in most practical applications the 5.1 is more than sufficient.
Really its personal needs. I looked into it as my kitchen tv needed a SB so I thought I'd move the JBL9.1 in there and buy a HT setup. But at the time, I wasn't dissatisfied with the JBL when watching movies on the G3. Having the flip the smart mode off every time, and the less than excellent speech clarity isnt ideal. But its not that bad Opportunity cost. I wanted to buy a nice car and start saving for a motorbike. Which trumped my desire for a HT.
How is it with music? Thinking of upgrading my JBL bar 9.1, but I like how the JBL can absolutely blast music
As someone with the 9.1 as well, I can't wait to upgrade to something that actually allows me to hear dialogue.
You’re getting downvoted because Reddit gonna Reddit, but you’re right. I’ve had everything from that cheap Vizio (it’s crap don’t buy it, though I’m sure it’s better than Amazon’s) to a JBL 9.1 and a Nakamichi. The next time I clearly hear a height effect will be the first time. I thought I did hear it, but then I tested myself with a blind a/b, and I failed. So that was confirmation bias. Everyone has different hearing. So maybe it’s me. Either way, I’m saving for a full system with receiver and heights installed in the ceiling.
I went from the JBL 9.1 which is the older model to the Q990F and much prefer the Samsung for what it’s worth. Way more clarity (I was able to turn subtitles off now) and the rears/atmos effects seem way more pronounced, also have the option to do way more customization with EQ and other settings
