I bought Bravia 7 last month, and wanted to pair it up with a Samsung Soundbar as i was using a decade old soundbar from Samsung. Went searching and testing out different brands soundbars at the stores, in the end only JBL soundbar impressed me the most. I got JBL Bar 800 in the end, the sound quality is really good and loud enough to fill my living room. I like the feature of the detachable speakers that is able to make the real surround sound, rather than the sound from soundbar reflecting to the ceiling to mimic surround sound. I was deciding JBL Bar 800 and Samsung Q800D at that time. The sales man in the store, recommended the highest end LG soundbar to me, but I wasn't impressed by it.
r/Soundbars • Does TV brand make a significant difference to the quality of a soundbar? ->I have the 800 and I watch broadcast tv with them attached then detach them for surround content. They won’t need recalibration if put back to the same position. Happy with them and reasonable atmos. To each side of and slightly behind your seating position. I think the step up to the 800 worth the cost.
r/Soundbars • JBL 800 VS. 500 ->Personally having surround speakers sold it for me.
r/Soundbars • JBL 800 VS. 500 ->Yes. You can test for yourself using the files here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/11qqv95/surround_sound_test_files_in_almost_every_format/ My Samsung Q990D is pretty good at placing the channels correctly, particularly bouncing sound off the ceiling, but also the right and left wide channels. I tested the Q990D against the Q930D and the JBL Bar 800. There was certainly a difference. Will this significantly enhance your enjoyment of content? That's a different question.
r/Soundbars • 7.1.4 vs 9.1.4 vs 11.1.4 ->The short answer is no… here’s the deal… option 1: you can’t afford much so you’re really weighing up what the impact is if you value Raman over sound quality then get a solo bar… Option2: you can afford a sub but you’d really love something else… a good bar will do all you need it to for a room that size you can add to it later! I just bought a Samsung q700 for $400 AUD and it sounds 90% as good as my JBL 800… listen to a dozen in the store.. be a pest.. make them hate you… work out what sounds good and what’s on sale where you live…
r/Soundbars • Worth getting a soundbar here? ->Give or take, a small to medium living room... my new place, the main living space is open plan, so it's like kitchen, dining, living in a 17X36 room, it's enormous, I have a Q800 with add on rear's and it's loud but it's not a "cinema experience" per se, the extra space stops you getting that percussive impact from the sub and there is an imbalance between the left and right channels because one of them bounces off a wall and the other disappears into the ether. You want larger speakers with greater capability to move air, capturing the full range of sound. In my second living room, I have a 12X12ish room that is fairly soft, and I have a JBL 800 in there, and that thing fucking crushes. The space is better for creating immersion
r/Soundbars • Are high-end soundbars like the Samsung Q990D really that far behind a proper home theater? ->If you like the sound of jbl I will recommend jbl 800 or jbl 1000 with rear speakers but they are a bit pricey
r/Soundbars • What soundbar setup would suite me best? ->I’m coming from JBL 800 soundbar and you’re not getting the immersive sound field like, for example, with a samsung q990D which I recently purchased and blew me away. JBL 800 was indeed good for music, electronic/club dance music, the bass it provides creates a club feeling. For movies it’s not worth it as its rear speakers are just fillers, what comes out of them is just average
r/Soundbars • Finally dumping Bose, looking for something similar that actually works ->I have JBL bar 800 and can confirm
r/Soundbars • Q990D: poor subwoofer performance. Should I return? ->I've got the JBL 800, basically got it half price. I too was very suss about it's performance. Overall very impressed! Bass is super powerful but with the app the EQ is highly adjustable to meet your needs. Always had great experience with their Bluetooth speakers. Now run it full time with the TV.

r/Soundbars • Any review of the JBL Bar 820? Is this a good deal? ->Different people have different tastes and different rooms, surrounding areas, and lifestyles. The Samsung q990f and JBL 5.1.2, just mentioned, are well-reputable soundbars. I have both of them. No regrets. Some time also depends on the contents.
r/Soundbars • Need help choosing between JBL 1300, Samsung Q990F, and LG S95TR — stuck in a dilemma after demos ->For me not a big difference between q990f and q990d.i have both soundbars. For music I use standard mode and for movies i use adaptive mode to get nice and clean dolby atmos effects.i will try my jbl soundbar 5.1.2, long time i haven't used. For bass lover its hard to beat jbl.
r/Soundbars • Is the Q99d the best thing on the planet? That’s all I see in this community. Does anyone use something different? I have a Bravia Bar 8 for example ->I just picked up two sound systems on sals, one is the JBL 800 and the other is JBL 1300X. Both connected to LG OLED tvs and let me tell you…. The sound quality is a GAME changer…. Love them both
r/Soundbars • Which soundbar for C4 lg ->Check out the JBL 5.1.2 if you are coming from tv speakers it will be a massive difference. Even better if it’s going into a bedroom. For bigger living rooms the full immersion will be tough but you will def ask yourself why you didn’t upgrade the tv speakers earlier.
r/Soundbars • Best soundbar to give the full immersion feeling? ->I did exactly this with my C3. Do not recommend. I returned it, bought one for double price, returned that and settled on one for double THAT price. Tough pill to swallow, but never been happier. JBL Bar 800 in case anyone is curious
r/Soundbars • Cheap soundbar better than good TV? ->I had the JBL Bar 1000 (and also the Bar 5.1 w/ wireless surrounds + sub). Both sounded great, but both had frequent connectivity issues with the wireless surrounds. They would often have weird crackling sounds in them. I thought it was 5ghz inference but I turned the 5ghz band off on my router, and the wireless speakers still had issues. Also, the battery in my wireless surrounds wore out after 2-3 years so I had to plug them in using USB cables. I would not recommend JBL unfortunately. I would recommend the Q990D/F.
r/Soundbars • Suggestions means Alot to find my First Soundbar home theatre ->The JBL Bars with detachable wireless speakers and subwoofer are sick.
