go for jbl bar 800 or samsung q800/930, jbl have excellent bass while samsung have excellent clarity
I have the 800 and I watch broadcast tv with them attached then detach them for surround content. They won’t need recalibration if put back to the same position. Happy with them and reasonable atmos. To each side of and slightly behind your seating position. I think the step up to the 800 worth the cost.
Personally having surround speakers sold it for me.
Bar 500 is only option with no rear speakers so you want true surround i wouldnt get that one. For pure sound quality id go Q935F and for bass impact definitely jbl bar 800
The short answer is no… here’s the deal… option 1: you can’t afford much so you’re really weighing up what the impact is if you value Raman over sound quality then get a solo bar… Option2: you can afford a sub but you’d really love something else… a good bar will do all you need it to for a room that size you can add to it later! I just bought a Samsung q700 for $400 AUD and it sounds 90% as good as my JBL 800… listen to a dozen in the store.. be a pest.. make them hate you… work out what sounds good and what’s on sale where you live…
Give or take, a small to medium living room... my new place, the main living space is open plan, so it's like kitchen, dining, living in a 17X36 room, it's enormous, I have a Q800 with add on rear's and it's loud but it's not a "cinema experience" per se, the extra space stops you getting that percussive impact from the sub and there is an imbalance between the left and right channels because one of them bounces off a wall and the other disappears into the ether. You want larger speakers with greater capability to move air, capturing the full range of sound. In my second living room, I have a 12X12ish room that is fairly soft, and I have a JBL 800 in there, and that thing fucking crushes. The space is better for creating immersion
If you like the sound of jbl I will recommend jbl 800 or jbl 1000 with rear speakers but they are a bit pricey
I have a JBL 800 bar for this exact setup, but you could go Samsung q990f
I would go with the Q990F, I have Q990B in my room and a JBL 800 in the living room, for me the samsung better tho the JBL gets the job done.
I got the q935d a couple of days ago, it’s great ! Tested JBL bar800 mk2 but q935d is better for me.
I got JBL Bar 800 for a little bit less, and I feel like that is better bang for buck, no?

Jbl is a beast in the market.bass lover then jbl . Premium and looks elite then samsung. I have jbl also 5.1.2 solid bar performance wise.only the problem my 5.1.2 cant play dtx files.over all I am happy.
Movies lover then jbl.
Different people have different tastes and different rooms, surrounding areas, and lifestyles. The Samsung q990f and JBL 5.1.2, just mentioned, are well-reputable soundbars. I have both of them. No regrets. Some time also depends on the contents.
For me not a big difference between q990f and q990d.i have both soundbars. For music I use standard mode and for movies i use adaptive mode to get nice and clean dolby atmos effects.i will try my jbl soundbar 5.1.2, long time i haven't used. For bass lover its hard to beat jbl.
Jbl 5.1.2 model 800.
I have q990f, and jbl model as well.both are also good.but i like little bit jbl the reason for bass. Otherwise samsung soundbar also good.
Jbl 5.1.2 soundbar model 800.solid soundbar.
