The Klipsch Core 100 packs a good punch with no woofer
klipsch core 100s solid for dialogue clarity without the bass boom but sonos app issues are real af. if youre eyeing samsung q-series as cheaper alt (they got voice enhance modes that nail tv speech) techwin has decent breakdowns on their soundbars worth a quick skim.
If your dad loves audio, consider a Klipsch flexus 100 or 200. The flexus 100 is a 2.1ch soundbar...but it lets you (or him) add surround speakers and subwoofers later on! That'll offer a much more quality experience than any solution that offers a sub + soundbar at 200. No Atmos for the flexus 100, so if my budget allows, i would do the flexus 200. But either will be a great step up from TV speakers. Or...give him a best buy voucher or something so he can listen in stores and top up for a nicer soundbar if he likes
I just purchased Klipsch Flexus core 100 waiting for it to come in . I am Replacing 2017 Polk Magnifi mini with sub . It was constantly turning off three four times a night . And had too much base . Ready for the Klipsch it will go into a bedroom .
I like the klipsch flexus core 100/200 personally
Klipsch flexus core with a sub. Fantastic value with ability to add surround if you’d like down the road
Ignore looks, prioritize audio Quality. Most people recommend here would Samsung Q990D. I personally own an older model from Samsung and a new Klipsch Flexus Core. I like the sound of the Samsung better than the Klipsch. Bose, LG and JBL are recognized brands, but I haven't seen many people recommend them.
In an open floorplan the Samsung offerings will sound weak. I returned the Q990, as the bass “tuning” could not handle a similar open floor plan with cathedral ceiling. Could never find a setting for the EQ/surround processing that worked well for everything. Surround effects were great, but this bar does not do well in larger spaces. The Klipsch flexus will be the best of your list….bar has excellent bass by itself, subwoofer is solid and is tuned well for all content types. Also sounds great with music where I found the Samsung lacking warmth….. my tuning preference leans towards Bose products so YMMV. As you noted the Klipsch also can handle a different brand/size sub should you want to upgrade/expand in future….but I DOUBT most people would need to
I get that "tunnel" effect on my Samsung soundbar, when it's in surround sound mode but there's only a stereo signal coming trough. Mostly when watching "live TV". When I turn surround sound off, it then sounds normal again. I also have the Klipsch Flexus Care and 2 of their 10" subs for my patio and that setup sounds pretty good.
I’d try a Klipsch flexus core they have built in subs that actually work. And you can upgrade. Wired sub out so you can use any wired sub
Klipsch flexus core. The built in subs work really really well. Only complaint is the surrounds are expensive. I got a core 200 for 330 n adorama
I love the flexus core. Great bass response and can wirelessly connect proprietary surrounds and subs. And you can use any wired sub as well. I have the core 100 surr 200 and 2 wired r100sw (a definite weak point in the chain) but I do get a lot of enjoyment out of it
