Based on 1 year's data from Feb 15, 2026 How it works
I own the 9.1 and have for over a year now. It sounds great and I have the sub set up behind my couch and it does the job. The sound from the bar is decent and it does a good job of sending the sound around but I find the detachable surround speakers to be a slight annoyance. You have to remember to put them back each day or they will die, so unless I'm watching an epic movie or some mind-melting music I leave them attached. It is nice to be able to position them in any formation though. My friend has had 2 of the Q series and they are superior quality but also twice as expensive. In my bedroom I am using the LG S60TR 5.1 system and it might be the room acoustics but it sounds better to me. It has the wireless sub like the JBL but also has 2 wireless satellite surround speakers as well. I run the sound bar under the TV, the sub along one wall, and the surrounds are on each side of the bed. These are an amazing amount of sound for the money ($250 USD) and in most practical applications the 5.1 is more than sufficient.
I'd say b650 is better. A bit more depth to the bass. But the rears, dinky as they are, on the s60tr are a nice to have and add in the mix. If you got good places to put them. I'd probably the lg provides marginally better immersion
I’d get the S60TR from LG for $299, it’s a 5.1 with actual rear speakers, and great sound quality for the price
Hey there! I have been doing some digging on the subject as well, so I am hoping to share some of the things I learned hoping it might help. We are using our tax return this year to update our 8+ year old setup and I have been looking all over for reviews etc. on TVs and budget home theater. I have heard many great things about that Vizio system. I ultimately chose the LG S60TR because the new TV is also an LG (We are going with the LG C5), and matching the brand helps the system work a bit better with the sound. For example LG uses the TV speakers and incorporates it into the sound system, and you can control all of it from one spot on the UI. Ultimea was another brand I looked at and have heard rave reviews about. I would do some research starting with the TV if you plan to buy a newer one and base your sound system choice around what the TV does and doesn't support. As far as what type of system you should get, if it's a dedicated area for watching like you're in a cinema, the surround sound capability of 5.1.4 and 7.1.4 are mind-blowingly good but it requires some careful setup. 2.1 is what we had for a long time with just the sound bar and sub from Vizio, and it has been great for the last 8 years. One last thing in regards to the TVs, if you are trying to get the best bang for your buck, wait for the new 2026 models to drop. You can usually snag a good deal on the previous year's model when the price drops to make room for the latest and greatest. Many retailers also have open box options if you can find a like new listing usually saves a good chunk as well. Best of luck and here's to both of our new setups being sick AF!
If you want some decent budget ones try the LG S60TR they are also 5.1, I have them and I’m satisfied
I got the LG S60TR (its a 5.1) very budget and id say really Good for the price, just be aware the 5.1 won’t work out of the box for some reason, to enable the rear speakers you need to do it by remote or by app (at first i tought they just didn’t work since they were connected just not making any sound) also you gotta buy a HDMI separately ( it works with Bluetooth too tho). But again for the price they work really well and its a good sound
The s60tr is a good sound bar. Butnif you dont want something the extreme with having tomaet up surround speakers. Just get a bose soundbar for about 280. It will give you good audio for dialogue and still sound good.
I'm here cause i just bought the LG S60TR for 50% off for Black Friday. I'll have it in a few days.
I've bought an lg c5 65 inch like 5 days ago with the lg s60tr 5.1 soundbar set, all for about 1300 eur, or 1500 usd. The tv itself is loud and clear enough, but with the soundbar it is just home theater class for me. This is my first ever lg tv + soundbar combo. I was positively surprised, the soundbar does a really good job of drawing out speech, the bass is more than enough maybe even a bit too much. Because this is a 5.1 set it has 2 extra back speakers that also connect to the soundbar via bluetooth like the subwoofer. Those need a bit of setup and can be finicky, but they do an okay-ish job of peoviding directional audio, of course with some ai magic from the tv. Overall, happy broderline exstatic about my purchase, already done 2 movie nights with it :)
