Hi, I have the same soundbar and TV you have (C1+70tr) and I connected the bar via the earc port on both devices, and on the c1 I did not select any of the two bar control options (there is no real advantage on the two options) just put it on passthru mode, and you will get atmos (you can check on the app what signal your getting) but you have to test it out with a better source, YT its not a good source for testing surround in my opinion. The app also let's you bump up the level on the rear speakers.

If you want WOW orchestra to be a crucial part of your experience then go the LG. If you don’t care about the feature. See if about the q930d or 990d if you’re able to get a good discount via Samsungs website.

I have an LG C3 65" OLED TV, and I'm looking for a soundbar + wireless subwoofer combo for a room with a very high ceiling. My budget is like $250-$400, so I'm probably looking for deals as they pop up. Is it worth it to get an LG soundbar that supports WOW Orchestra to use the TV's speakers in tandem with the soundbar, or is it better to go with a competitor? The TV is in a location that makes only a soundbar really possible as an option, and I'd like to have satellite speakers if I can but it's probably only in the budget for a soundbar + wireless subwoofer. This is for watching movies and TV, not really for music. I haven't heard the best things about LG's sound systems, so maybe a Samsung would be better for the price despite not using the TV's speakers? Thank you in advance for your recommendations and advice Edit: We went with the S70TR, and I'm happy with it, especially for the price. The front isn't very "stereo" because of the limited spacing a soundbar provides, but it sounds very clear and is better than the TV speakers alone. Having a subwoofer is great, and it has a high enough level that it makes movies sound realistic without being overpowering. The rear speakers are a good supplement to not having spacing for stereo in the front channels. I only really use it for TV and movies, though.

Did you end up finding a set up you liked when it came to settings? I’ve got the S70TR and a C2 and I’d love any tips for optimization.

LG S60TR or S70TR would be way better than any of these and you can usually get it for pretty cheap

i love my S95TR, it has phenomenal low ends that are deep but really tight- i genuinely don’t get the hate either! i’ve also had an S70TR and that was easily the best soundbar for under $500 that you can get (or the S80 when it’s on sale lol). there seems to just be a hate train for LG for some reason, i’ve tried many systems and it’s easily my fave

that’s valid- try the Cinema mode, and turn up the Subwoofer and Bass settings (if you haven’t already), i had that set that way when i had an S70TR

Samsung Q990D is a recommended soundbar but in my opinion; if you have LG OLED TV like me, LG soundbar would be the best. The reason is LG WOW Orchestra feature. I live in an apartment and the sound passes to the neighbors a lot, they balanced the sound very well with WOW Orchestra, so I can use the soundbar all the time, neighbors are not disturbed.

I was in the same boat as you are, went to the stores to check both. Bought the 600c as it has better sound clarity, but the surround effect is not that good without the rears. Lg s70tr is good, but lacks sound clarity.

Did you actually test the S70 with all it's settings? Auto volume and audio upmixer makes it way better. Excellent audio quality and dialogue volume. From my personal experience samsungs are quite crap with dialogue levels and uneven volumes. hollow and thin vocals.

Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my recent experience switching soundbars and hopefully get some advice too. I originally had the Samsung HW-Q600C paired with my LG C1, and honestly — I loved it. The sound was rich and powerful, with that classic “fat” Samsung audio profile. Even without rear speakers, it felt well-balanced and full, whether I was watching YouTube, live TV, or movies. I only started wondering if it could be better with rear speakers… and that’s when I made a mistake. I upgraded(?) to the LG S70TR thinking rear channels would improve the overall experience. I was so wrong. Yes, the S70TR has rear speakers, but they’re incredibly weak. If I sit perfectly centered between them, I basically can’t hear them at all — it’s like the front center speaker is overpowering everything. If I move even slightly to one side, I only hear that side’s rear speaker and lose the rest. It’s disorienting and completely breaks immersion. Sound quality overall is just meh. The S70TR sounds very midrange-heavy, with none of that deep, rich feel the Samsung had. YouTube videos and live TV — which sounded great on the Q600C — sound flat and lifeless. The only time the LG setup feels immersive is with highly technical, Atmos-optimized movies… and even then, it’s hit or miss. The configuration is also frustrating. If I use TV Sound Mode Share, I can’t adjust balance or levels. If I switch to Sound Bar Mode Control, I get those options — but then I lose Dolby Atmos! 😩 I had Atmos + Dolby Vision working at one point, but after switching some settings, it disappeared and I haven’t been able to get it back. I really regret the switch. The Samsung HW-Q600C may not have had rear speakers, but it sounded better overall and just worked with no headaches. Does anyone have tips to improve the S70TR experience on an LG C1? Any tricks to improve rear speaker clarity or get Atmos + Vision working again? Thanks!

Yeah, that’s actually my frustration right now. If I use **TV Sound Mode Share**, I do get **Dolby Atmos (via DD+)**, but I can’t adjust **balance, levels, or any detailed sound settings** — everything is locked out. If I switch to **Sound Bar Mode Control**, I finally get access to those adjustments and can balance the audio more or less the way I like… but then I lose Atmos entirely. It just feels like a really unfriendly tradeoff — especially since I came from a **Samsung setup that offered better overall sound quality and flexibility**, even without Atmos, and **for less money**. Their integration between TV and soundbar was way more polished. And no, I’m just using the built-in TV OS for streaming — no Apple TV, Roku, or anything like that.

Resume / Summary of Comparison (Samsung HW-Q600C vs LG S70TR): • The Samsung HW-Q600C has a stronger and more defined center channel compared to the LG S70TR. • Immersion on the Samsung is limited and only noticeable in very small rooms, but the overall sound balance is excellent. • For everyday use (YouTube, music, and live sports), the Samsung delivered clearer and more satisfying audio. • I switched to the LG S70TR seeking greater immersion with rear speakers, but the overall sound quality felt like a downgrade. • The LG S70TR only shines when content is specifically mixed for immersion, such as in movies. • For general use, the downgrade in clarity and balance was noticeable, leaving me disappointed with the LG despite its potential for cinematic experiences.
