Hi, I have the same soundbar and TV you have (C1+70tr) and I connected the bar via the earc port on both devices, and on the c1 I did not select any of the two bar control options (there is no real advantage on the two options) just put it on passthru mode, and you will get atmos (you can check on the app what signal your getting) but you have to test it out with a better source, YT its not a good source for testing surround in my opinion. The app also let's you bump up the level on the rear speakers.
I have s70tr+Lg G4 oled tv. Dolby Atmos is so cool. I think its a good choice.
I recently upgraded to the LG S70TR and it's pretty awesome
I have an LG C3 65" OLED TV, and I'm looking for a soundbar + wireless subwoofer combo for a room with a very high ceiling. My budget is like $250-$400, so I'm probably looking for deals as they pop up. Is it worth it to get an LG soundbar that supports WOW Orchestra to use the TV's speakers in tandem with the soundbar, or is it better to go with a competitor? The TV is in a location that makes only a soundbar really possible as an option, and I'd like to have satellite speakers if I can but it's probably only in the budget for a soundbar + wireless subwoofer. This is for watching movies and TV, not really for music. I haven't heard the best things about LG's sound systems, so maybe a Samsung would be better for the price despite not using the TV's speakers? Thank you in advance for your recommendations and advice Edit: We went with the S70TR, and I'm happy with it, especially for the price. The front isn't very "stereo" because of the limited spacing a soundbar provides, but it sounds very clear and is better than the TV speakers alone. Having a subwoofer is great, and it has a high enough level that it makes movies sound realistic without being overpowering. The rear speakers are a good supplement to not having spacing for stereo in the front channels. I only really use it for TV and movies, though.
I have limited experience but comparing my atmos soundbar with the up firing speaker and my friend’s actual stereo set up with ceiling speakers, it makes me think my atmos channel does nothing. I’m sure some bars with significantly more up-firing speakers can get a little bit closer to mimicking the sound, but at that point you are paying so much more to sound worse than just installing height speakers. Since you say you are using a fairly small room, your best strategy may be to hang some acoustic foam on the walls to cut down on the sound bouncing back at you, but leave the ceiling untreated so the atmos channel can reflect off the ceiling and be more noticeable.
I have the s70tr and I have no issues with the wireless rear speakers, they are wired to each other I believe, the sub is separately plugged in. I don’t know if the single atmos speaker is really worth it for the extra hundred dollars compared to the s60tr though, but I got mine on sale so it’s nice to have. Compared to my 2.1 Samsung it’s not as powerful/loud but for the price, to have rears and atmos, it was worth it to me
I was using the Samsung HW-T550, I upgraded to the s70tr when I bought a new tv that used earc and it started having lip sync issues. If I had the extra cash I would have sprung for a Samsung 5.1, but for the value the s70tr couldn’t be beat
I have the S70tr it’s decent but I think the klipsch is better. The wow orchestra just turns on your tv speakers as extra channels, I wouldn’t put it as a dealbreaker if you don’t want to stay in the ecosystem. Since you live in an apartment, the good thing about the klipsch is it’s upgradable, so you can start with the soundbar and get the rears and subs later on.
I have it, for the price I got it for it’s an amazing deal, the only other one I’ve seen in the price range for surround and atmos is the Hisense ax700 which has 4 upfiring vs the 1 large for the s70tr. Sound quality is good, the rears and sub are very immersive, not sure if I can tell if the atmos does anything but it’s nice to know it’s there. As far as I know the wow orchestra just adds your tv speakers into the set up, but the tv speakers don’t really sound the best standalone; it may sound better if they don’t push any bass through those, but if there is a better soundbar for the same price I wouldn’t let it be the deciding factor.
Lg has one for 349 right now. S70tr
Sorry, I meant Best Buy has an LG. I just bought that one for our living room tv. It won’t blow your hair off but it’s really good for what it is.
It's well worth it imo. I upgraded from an lg70tr which is a 5.1.1 system that came out last year to a q990d and its really night and day difference especially with dolby atmos content. The q990d is way way louder, i never turn it up past 30 and that's even too loud for my wife. Unless you have the budget for a true speaker set up this is probably one of the best set ups you can get especially for the value.
Did you end up finding a set up you liked when it came to settings? I’ve got the S70TR and a C2 and I’d love any tips for optimization.
