I have the LG S77S currently, I actually just got it renewed on Amazon for $100 so figured it was worth a shot since it was regularly like $500 bucks, it’s garbage. The sound bar itself isn’t the problem, it’s really just the subwoofer. I do like the WOW orchastra tho it does add a lot to it imo but the subwoofer is probably the worst thing I’ve ever heard. It’s not loud and I get more actual sound out of it than bass. I’m torn right now between the Klipsch 210 and the LG S80 or 90 but I’ve read the subwoofer on those is trash too
I went from the same LG soundbar to the flexus 200 and 100 sub. There wasn’t really anything “wrong” with the SC9S but it left me wanting more. The flexus setup is legit and I’m super happy with it. I did like the wow orchestra tho with the LG bar and did feel it added more dimension to the sound but even still the Klipsch kills it
I am very confused recently and inclined to use only stereo. I have a 5,1 soundbar with Dolby Digital and DTS:X, and the LG SH7Q. Since she arrived, I've been using surround sound, but it's never caught my attention much, you know? Like, "wow, what a surround sound!" Or What a good surround sound! In fact, I think it came empty, hollow, and the surround, honestly, does not exist. So recently I've been switching a lot between stereo and 5,1 and wondering if 5,1 is really worth leaving activated for some reason, or if it's better to use only the stereo itself. I know it's not a top-of-the-line soundbar, but I've seen several reports of the crowd complaining even about the top-of-the-line with rear boxes and everything. The question here is not whether it compares to a dedicated system, it is simply ridiculous, we are not talking about it, but whether the virtual surround is really worth it. Still, will he be better than the soundbar stereo itself? All I feel I win is a little more volume, but playing and watching doesn't convince me, you know. But when I become disabled, I have that question: am I crazy? Am I missing something? That's what your experience is like, how you use and recommend it. Is it worth the virtual surround? I think the soundbar only serves to improve the sound of the TV, the stereo right there. More for surround, the vast majority seem not to be good.
I believe I would not invest again in a soundbar for surround sound from my own experience and analysis on the internet: the vast majority cannot deliver even half of what they promise. And when it delivers, you have to have a room like a cubicle that reflects perfectly, which is not quite the case for most, right?
Honestly, I don't think I would invest again in a soundbar for surround sound. In tests such as in Rtings, the vast majority cannot deliver even half of what they promise.
The LG SC9S comes with a bracket to replace the TV stand altogether that came with your TV.
Here’s a pic of the SC9S mounted: (wall mounted) https://preview.redd.it/l8ih178paynf1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f824e1c77833f22f714dbd371a0fa7e8b1cf7ea3 The included WOW bracket is a fair size in comparison to the soundbar itself.
The area that the bar sits on (WOW mount) has a bigger footprint that the standard stand. If the WOW was included, I think it would look like shit compared to the stand that comes with the TV.
Ya, unfortunately it’s only made for LG bars. Not sure if it’s specific to the SC9S, because it does screw into the base of the soundbar to secure it? My previous set I had the soundbar on top of the screen using flat bar and plastic bushings for spacers to line up the flat bar with the vesa mount holes. [Try this maybe???](https://a.co/d/bABLPPI)
Sonos Arc Ultra might be the go if your not going with tv brand soundbar imo, I got the sc9s but sonos arc gets better reviews however I did like the integration. Sounds great so far on the sc9s but not used it much yet
I've got the sc9s and have discovered i can't get rear speakers as they don't make them which is annoying as i wanted surround sound. It sounds great for movies with the Sub and Dolby atmosphere, for other stuff though my gen 1 Beam sounds as good. If I could have my time again id go Sonos so I could get rears mind you that was way over my budget as well as adding a sonos Sub and I got a great deal on LG bar bundled with tv. Wow Orchestra is ok. I guess 'it depends' is the answer.
Main other benefit is the Wow bracket to integrate with tv
Same here with sc9s only good for electronic music. I think any soundbar is not good for music though, need a proper AV system to get both so unless you want to go that option
I got the sc9s which is designed for the tv and has the wow bracket. I'm not sure id recommend it though while it does fit beautifully under the tv on the new stand, and the Sub is great for movies my Beam is better sounding and on my other tv and it just sits on the TV stand fine and hardly obscures the bottom. Honestly owning both products, id go for a Beam 2 as you can get Dolby Atmos and it might go in front fine , but definitely check. The other thing I've discovered with my sc9s is that they no longer make rear speakers for it so I'm never getting surround sound, sonos is super expensive for surrounds so I was hoping to get surrounds for cheaper but no luck.
My theory is they do this deliberately to get people to buy the LG bar but maybe I'm too cynical as any bar can fit in front potentially
I got the C5 and an amazing price deal on the sc9s so I know what you mean the Sub doesn't ever recommend LG soundbars, that said im a bit annoyed with mine and other than the price and Wow bracket and Wow Orchestra which unlike everyone else I seem to like I'm not sure id recommend it, I kind of get what the review says about the bar compared to my Sonos Beam on another tv. I'm mostly annoyed they stopped making rear speakers for it though as I thought I could get a surround sound set up.
I bought and returned an LG SC9S for a Klipsch Flexus Core 200 all-in-one soundbar and this soundbar is outstanding! The quality is very good, plus it has great bass for being just a soundbar. I’m in an apartment so I can’t really benefit from a subwoofer but that soundbar supports any direct connect subwoofer so you can shop out of its ecosystem. Can also buy surround speakers too. EDIT: Bought for $475, but sales on this go lower than that.
I posted on here before (now deleted lol) asking what is up with the LG soundbar hate? I had bought an LG SC9S and hooked it up and ran it and was, at first, really surprised on the output on the soundbar and subwoofer. After watching a couple movies in Dolby Atmos there was a few occurrences that left me thinking “is that it?” I’m not sure if it was the intentional mixing done in movies or what but it was leaving a dull taste in my mouth, especially for spending almost $600 w/ tax. Additionally the soundbar rear speakers were discontinued and the LG app support is awful, so those three items combined made me return it. Since I am in an apartment I was doing more research into “all-in-one” soundbars and ended up choosing the Klipsch Flexus Core 200. For $80 cheaper (w/ tax) than the LG, the Core 200 offered exquisite performance. I am very pleased with the looks and performance of the Flexus Core 200 and its ease of equalizing whether through the remote or their app. Klipsch also sells rear speakers and they allow you to wire any 3rd part subwoofer straight from the bar. If you’re in search for a bar that has good range I would recommend. When I move out I will be picking up the Klipsch Flexus Sub 100 and Klipsch Flexus Surr 100 surround speakers to complete the movie experience setup.
Agree! Unfortunately for this specific one I can’t recommend for being discontinued, no rear speaker configuration, and poor app management.
The S90TR is actually what made me give LG a chance because in the in-store demo for that thing was a BEAST! Unfortunately that is not an option for me in my living conditions plus it was $800 (on-sale) so I had to look elsewhere. I bought the SC9S thinking I might get the same bam but no cigar plus, like I said to someone else, you can’t get rear speakers for it, it’s discontinued, and the app support isn’t very good. That’s putting my subjective standards aside on its sound performance. I was contemplating the Sonos and I heard the same thing about the Sennheiser AMEBO being the cats pajamas but my wallet doesn’t agree plus for that price point I would rather get a full system later in life. So I landed on Klipsch after reviewing and looking at recommendations and I’m very happy. I’m not shoehorned into a specific manufacturer market and I can upgrade it in the future (if stuff doesn’t get discontinued). I am jealous of your S90TR setup though lol
Did you experienced it's sound? I tried out Sony S40R , Sony HT-500RF and Lg SC9S in croma. According to my experience, Lg SC9S had best sound depth, clarity and good bass. I was planning to buy Lg SQ75TR but it was not available at Croma, so I was not able to hear it yet.
If you have to keep the lg soundbar, there is a trick: you cover the sub and any other speakers with the system with thick blankets and then initiate the AI calibration or whatever and since the bar doesn’t hear the sub very well; it adjusts its power way up. Otherwise, just get a different company’s bar
I'm not an expert but have been doing a lot of research recently. I think the SC9S is really meant to go with LG's C series. We bought a 65" C5 earlier this year and bundled it with an SC9S. It's not the greatest soundbar in the world, but it works well with that TV and was a big step up from the Polk S2 2.1 soundbar we had before. But the G5 is a premium TV and IMO deserves a premium soundbar (or "real" home theater system if you go that route). I recently bought an 83" G4 on clearance to create a movie room in our basement. I picked up a JBL 1300X MK2 during BF to go in that room and so far I like it a lot. (It's just connected to an older TV right now so I haven't really fully tried it out. The G4 won't be delivered for another week or so.) We don't want permanent rear speakers so the JBL fits our particular use case because we can detach the rear surround speakers when we want to use them, then re-dock them in the main soundbar. And they're completely wireless (with rechargeable batteries). Others that are often recommended are the Sonos Arc Ultra, Samsung Q series, Klipsch, AMBEO, and KEF XIO. The Nakamichi Shockwafe looks really interesting if you have the space and budget for it.
I bought a C5 in October and bundled it with the SC9S. Sure there are better soundbars but the SC9S isn't garbage. I don't use WOW Orchestra but the integration with the C5 is still very useful. The Synergy bracket works great in terms of setting up the TV on our TV stand without the soundbar blocking any part of it. When using an LG soundbar, all of the TV's built-in sound modes are available; with third party soundbars, those are grayed out. It works fine for us as our main TV/soundbar for everyday viewing in our medium sized open floor plan area.
