Hey everyone, Just wanted to update that I decided to go with the LG unit and bought it from LG online store. The customer care chat offered a few coupons, bringing the price down from 39,990 INR to 35,190 INR. With additional bank credit card offers, the final price went down to 31.5K INR. I'm now awaiting delivery and will soon update my user experience review here. Thanks for sharing your input and suggestions!

Hey! Sorry for the delayed response—I’ve been off Reddit for a few days. After comparing both Sony and LG, I found that the LG offers more features and power, which justifies the price difference. I’ve shared a detailed review in my original post if you’d like to check it out. Regarding the HDMI port heating issue, I’ve also come across similar concerns on Reddit and was initially worried. However, I haven’t experienced this with my unit, even with heavy usage. My TV is wall-mounted and the soundbar is placed on top of an open unit with sufficient space between the ports and wall. That said, I did get the unit during winter, so I can’t fully comment on potential heating issues during hotter months. Since your TV is a Sony, a Sony audio unit might be a better choice for compatibility. If you’re not particular about Atmos content and are okay with less power, using an additional receiver for rear speakers, and no video passthrough, the S40R is a solid option. Otherwise, I’d recommend the LG unit without hesitation due to the feature differences. This is just my suggestion—the final decision is, of course, yours!

Get the LG. The Sony sucks. Plug the playstation into the LG. Set the playstation audio output priority to PCM. Now your games will output in uncompressed 7.1 surround sound. Plug the apple into the TV. Set the TV's HDMI Audio Input to Passthrough. The TV should pass the Apple's audio to the soundbar via Arc.

Maybe try it just in case. Some TVs can successfully pass through audio formats which they themselves do not support. For example my LG TV cannot play PCM Surround but it can pass it through. The Sony has a poor reputation sound wise and featurewise. The LG is much better.

Have you heard both? If not, then go to a Croma or Reliance Digital store and hear them both. Check the dimensions, like the length of the soundbar and subwoofer. Check supported codecs on both too, and make sure they meet your requirements. Regarding LG one, pass through helps. It also supports Dolby Vision in pass through, so it is future safe too.The only issue would be because it has only one pass through port, you need to toggle cables between the apple box and PS4. The more you pull/plugin cables, the higher the chances of damaging the pass through port of the soundbar. OR you can connect the apple box to the tv and use it to decode Atmos and send the audio signal via ARC. You can still connect PS4 to the pass through port of the soundbar.
