Lot of nonsense in this thread. People are snobs about SOUNDBARS now? Soundbars are always mid compared to a real speaker setup, but a TCL at that price point would be way better than TV speakers.

The TCL S55H is $100 renewed on Amazon. Will be more than adequate for your needs: [https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/tcl/s55h](https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/tcl/s55h)

I had a S55H and it wasn't too bad at all. Recently found Samsung q910d's for great price, so I upgraded. For the price the TCL was pretty decent

I just returned a TCL S55H because I felt like the sound quality wasn’t much better than the built in speakers on my C4. (That might be exaggerating a bit but I was very unimpressed with the sound, especially in light of Wirecutter’s glowing review.) I’m also in a small apartment and I’d rather not shake my neighbor’s ceiling with a separate subwoofer. Looks like this is still at $299 on Costco. You’d definitely recommend over other models in that range? I’m intrigued!

You can get the TCL S55H for around $140. It’s 31” wide so I know you didn’t want that, but that would be the best sound bar. Another alternative would be the Samsung S50B on Amazon “Used - Like New” for $95. This is an all in one, 3.0 sound bar. Which would make dialogue more clear, just no bass. Which you’re not going to realize you’re missing coming from TV speakers.

Definitely get the 3.1 channel so vocals aren't being muted by the background sound. Bought a cheap TCL 2.1 and I regret not spending the extra for a 3.1
