Honestly most around $100 soundbars are probably your best bet. Cheap and the audio directed at your head instead of down or behind the tv. If you insist on not a soundbar you can find bookshelf speakers like the [Dayton Audio B40](https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-Classic-B40-Bookshelf-Speaker-Pair-Black-300-250?quantity=1&srsltid=AfmBOorrJa0ZJhmUTHeIoIGZGhDRYsXEelGD2rHOU9NWRRq0wyZqTsIg) which are fine(tm) And then a cheap class D amp to power them something like a [Leipai LP-2020BT](https://www.parts-express.com/Lepai-LP-2020BT-Bluetooth-Hi-Fi-Audio-Mini-Class-D-Stereo-Amplifier-FM-Media-with-Power-Sup-310-3020?quantity=1&srsltid=AfmBOorHqPD3D6kS_2cmGOockz5SPsWxuQQeTWng6FmPOAP_cukpHFOe) If you want an amp with a remote you'll likely need to go over your budget. The [SMSL A50 Pro](https://a.co/d/aIRMEFU) is what I'd go with , but there may be cheaper options out there. Lastly Edifier does have completely serviceable powered speakers for around (but slighly above)$100 too. These are their [R1280T](https://a.co/d/c7PF7FU) for $120 and also have a basic remote You can work with that budget, but easiest option is almost certainly basically any soundbar. I'd go for the Roku one since it comes with a Roku Steaming stick built in and can even get one with a subwoofer for $50 over your budget. I have my Roku stream bar se connected to a high end Samsung TV and it is wonderful. Works seamlessly and even lowers the volume when commercials come on.

The roku streambar se, regular, and pro are very decent sort of basic, cheap but good value. Ive had great experience with the pro for like $130

r/BudgetAudiophileis it worth getting a surround sound system or should i just stick with a soundbar

I got a lower/mid range Roku system complete with Streambar, left, right, rears and subwoofer. It does a pretty decent job with TV audio but it's lacking when I try to play music from SiriusXM. Been contemplating getting a legit receiver and speaker system.

I think you are looking for the Roku Streambar that you can use with the wireless speakers and add the sub later if you want

Streambar performs better than the Roku version built into the TVs. More processing power and memory makes for a better experience. Setup correctly hitting the Home button will turn on both the TV and wake up the Streambar.

Since she’s already familiar with Roku why not the Roku Streambar?

I have this exact TV but needed a compact soundbar so I tried the Roku Streambar. It was okay I guess, but only lasted about a year then just died. Tried a new power brick but still dead. Another free Top Tip -- avoid Sonos: their app is horrible.

r/sonosIs the Sonos ray a good option in 2025?

A Sonos Ray is perfect for a small apartment. And it sounds great for music too. But if u're looking for an even smaller footprint, with inbuilt streamer, the Roku Streambar is also a great choice. I have both in my rooms.
