Take a look at Shockwafe Wireless system's 31 high-performance drivers. I've had mine for a week and it's awesome. It's also on sale for $800 off bringing it down to 1700. You get a lot of performance for that 1700. It's the dragons little brother. https://www.nakamichi-usa.com/shockwafe-wireless

I have the dragon with 2 12 inch subwoofers in front and 2 8 inch subwoofers in the back in my basement and it sounds incredible. I have the Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 in my master bedroom and firmware update and it's the best bang for the buck sounds very good.

I think the Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 is on a different level to the previous Nakamichi shockwafe SSE eARC 9.2.4 and it's very similar to the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 with 2 12 inch subwoofers in the front and 2 8 inch subwoofers in the back in my basement. The Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 is in my master bedroom and sounds incredible especially with the firmware update, I'm completely blown away. I'd give it 88 out of 100

It’s been about a week with the **Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless 11.2.6**. Honestly, the first day felt a bit underwhelming sound wise but then I got a firmware update (came via mail the next day), and it completely transformed the experience. The soundstage now is just wild, that is in my high ceiling living room that’s not exactly acoustics friendly I think. Few months ago, someone recommended going with the Nakamichi shockwafe 9.2.4 wired version when I mentioned I was looking for a solid soundbar setup for high ceiling, then I waited for this one when I heard about a wireless one and snagged at the so called discounted price. I’ve also heard the full Sonos setup with the Era 300s and 990C at a friend’s place, and while that sounded great, the soundscape from the Nakamichi feels like something else entirely. Not sure why there’s not more hype around this product it really does hold its own, if not outperform in some ways. Still curious how the Samsung Q990D with just one sub compares to the Shockwafe. Like a lot of folks here, I tried to get the open box deal with the promo code, but that got cancelled. Thinking about grabbing it anyway just to do a comparison, especially with all the good things people are saying here and the price difference. Also any Dragon or previous Nakamichi owners have suggestions on fine tuning the settings for even better output? Would love to hear what’s worked for you.

I just got a JBL 1300x (MK1) and wasn’t impressed with it to be honest. The bar itself has no depth which means the crossover for the sub is high to address that; but I’m also picky with audio. I’ve noticed when the surrounds are plugged in to the bar, when playing music, no speakers on the bar produce sound, only the surrounds. Everything works when they’re unplugged of course. The bass is pretty dang good, just wish the EQ on the app would let you adjust stuff under 125hz, to help with that high crossover point. Honestly I don’t like the 1300x MK1 for music at ALL. Decent for movies however. If you’re paying ~1600 for the MK2, I’d check [this](https://store.nakamichi-usa.com/products/shockwafe-wireless-11-2-6) out. I’m returning my 1300x and picked up their Dragon setup. The dual 10” sub in the Shockwafe should provide more and better coverage for bass too.

Arc ultra is a good one overpriced for what u get but a good one. Sony quads are way overpriced for what u get. Q symphony is definitely not a gimmick you are soo wrong about that

I like the sound on the arc ultra better than the Sony quads it’s much crisper I don’t really know how to describe it. The absolute best deal on soundbar packages is by far Nakamichi right now. The dragon and shockwafe 11.2.6 are soo cheap right now for what u get. $1699 for the new wireless shockwafe is sooo good. The Nakamichi soundbars and bass are on a whole different level. You can get the dragon right now for $2200. If you haven’t heard a Nakamichi you really should I think you would really really like

Go for the 990D it’s by far the best for the money. The Nakamichi shockwafe 9.2 earc is $1299 right now and it’s 1300watts with 2 10in downfiring sub woofers.

The 9.2.4 earc shockwafe is 1300watts and has side and rear speakers with 2 10in downfiring subs. The 11.2.6 shockwafe has a bigger sound bar but only 2 side or rear speakers with 2 10in downfiring speakers and is 2300watts. The 9.2.4 is $1299 and the 11.2.6 is $1699. They are both two of the best soundbars u can get. And it’s a lot for the money they are both on steep discount from there website right now

The arc ultra is a great bar but by the time you get the sub and rear’s it’s pretty expensive. You can add more subs and speakers to the Arc ultra over time so that is awesome but by the time you get them all you could have bought a Nakamichi dragon or shockwafe 11.2.6 wireless system for less money and they will blow the Arc ultra away. You should really check out the shockwafe 11.2.6 right now it’s $1699 and you get 2 10in subs it’s $800 off right now

I got my shockwafe 11.2.6 last week too. It was at my door two days after i ordered it! I had to do some reinforcing to my floating wall unit and move out the old components first, so i didn't do anything but a sound check with the pre-loaded stuff on the bar. Sounded impressive. The delay in getting it set up gave me time to get the firmware USB which was sent the next day. After i did the update i fired it up. The surrounds and base were extraordinary for what i'm used to, but the bar was off and sounded canned which i hated. i played around with the multitude of settings and couldn't get it right. Then it dawned on me that in my brain haze i forgot to switch the TV output from my old systems optical to EARC. I guess i thought since the bar was reading EARC that it automatically switched over but evidently not. Once i switched things WHALLA. BIG SOUND from the bar and the height effects are so impressive. To me, the bar isn't the main focus. it's the whole package with the punch from the subs to the clarity and power that the surrounds put out. The app gets some cruddy reviews but i have had no issues with it. It has a load of customization options. No Auto calibration though from what i see. I just installed an eero 6+ extender that is close to the bar so that may have something to do with the app being so responsive for me. Not sure though. Very cool system coming from my 15 year old Bose 3.2.1. Only other system i currently have to compare it to now is a beam 2 with 100's upstairs in the master bedroom. That little set up is great but nothing in comparison to the spacious sound i get from the 11.2.6. Before i ordered i was torn between 4 systems. the Q990D or F, the sonos arc ultra immersive system and the 11.2.6. I could have saved serious bucks on the samsungs and the sonos would have been fine too if not for the era 300s that my wife hated. She had me show her the dimensions and how they would look off the back wall and said TOO WIDE & BIG. I tried telling her they were awesome award winning surrounds but after 35 years of marriage we all have to compromise here and there i guess. So i decided on the MASSIVE sound bar of the 11.2.6 with its solid subs and clean surrounds. No regrets.

If you want pure raw power, the Dragon. The AMT tweeters are fantastic. It gets LOUD. The stock subs are something to be desired and the cost to upgrade to the new subs is questionable. But at least its modular and you have that option. I personally wouldn't go with the Dragon. Wait for a V2 refresh. Especially for the cost. Going Shockwafe wireless is the best route. It's very close in sound but not modular and I believe you can only use the stock subs. Here are some positive reviews I found on it: [Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless 11.2.6 Soundbar System Review](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCg85wOPFvc&ab_channel=HatoraidCowboyCinema) [Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless 11.2.6 (Full Review)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSvy38wElik&ab_channel=NeverEnoughTech)

Nakamichi released a new update for the Dragon that includes the Adaptive Height Dispersion Ultra which apparently helped a lot with atmos / overhead effects. The Shockwafe wireless already has it built in. I still think the Shockwafe may be the way to go especially if you have no intention on adding the new subs to the Dragon.

Not true. Their newer soundbars are excellent. I have two different Shockwafe eARC models and they are a lot better than pretty much all comparable systems from Samsung, LG, Vizio, TCL, and a bunch of others I've been through. I bought and returned probably 7 or 8 soundbars including the highly rated Samsung 990. The only ones I didn't return are the Vizio M512a-h6 which I kept because they were the best out of that bunch. All the rest of them were pieces of crap. Eventually I upgraded from the Vizios to the Nakamichis and never looked back. I still have the Vizios stored in a closet just in case. The most recent ones like the Dragon and the Shockwafe Wireless are incredible. That said, sure, a well matched system of AVR and separate speakers can sound better but they are also more expensive and not always physically possible to place in some rooms.

Are those the only options? And what do you plan to use it for? Movies? Music? Regular TV? Gaming? If you have the money, the Nakamichi Dragon with four subs is probably the best soundbar you can get. It's expensive as hell though. The Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless is a great more affordable option. If you like Klipsch, for full surround if you're going to be watching movies, the Flexus Core 300 plus a couple of the matching subs would be awesome. The Sony you mentioned is just OK.

For movies you would probably want something that has surround speakers and ideally two subs. A dedicated home theater that has surrounds and can provide Atmos and DTS audio will generally be better than a soundbar or soundbar based system but most people don't want the hassle of piecing together a component system and running wires all over the place. But if you're willing to do that, a separates system is usually better. If you want the practicality of a soundbar, for the price you won't do better than something like a Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless. A lot of people like the Samsung Q990 soundbars but they have very weak bass.

What guy said the soundstage was the weakest? I’m Comparing The new Shockwafe at $2277 vs the dragon at $3999, Obviously that’s with the 8” subs. Basically half price and never enough tech said Atmos is better, immersion is better and the subs are better on the Shockwafe! Maybe I’ll give it a try! I demoed the dragon and I liked things but disliked things more and overall to me it wasn’t worth it. Everyone is different and I’m sure the new subs are good, but only hitting 30hz for a $1500 sub is clearly not a good deal, it’s average at best. Many of the people touting these highly overpriced subs obviously have never heard real subs before, but if it makes you happy do it. I’m obviously not a Nakamichi hater or I wouldn’t consider demoing the new shockwafe, Watching NET say it’s better than the dragon with 8’s and basically half price, gave me a inkling to actually give it a try.

I’d agree with what @djsimmz said. I demoed the dragon and it was good, but I couldn’t get any overhead-spatial effects and the subs would die and bottom out and the noises it would make drove me insane. I myself have the Sony Quads and although their sub is also pretty bad, I still can’t believe how awesome its Atmos effects are. I also tried the arc ultra with era 300s and a gen 4 sub and I’d say that system does everything well. It was close but the Quads just wow me and I was sold. I would look at the Shockwafe with the 2 10” subs that is going for 2299-2499, as with the dragon and it’s chuffy 8” subs, I would need the 12” subs and I’m not paying 6 thousand for 2 12” subs that are not great. People, some of them say the 12”s are great and they are far from great, but this just shows how pitiful the 8”subs are. I would demo my Quads vs the new Shockwafe, but forget the dragon imo

Who? Scooby? He’s got buyers remorse and is taking it out on the world. Hey, if people like it that’s great, but I tried it and sent it back after 12 days. Those 8” subs were awful and I only got Atmos effects during the demos which sound good on most soundbars. The one thing that irks me is his and anyone else who says “It’s Not A Soundbar”.. I’m literally not a Nakamichi hater and after watching nets review of the Shockwafe at half the price and what he calls the best bass he’s heard yet on a soundbar system gave me pause to maybe give it a try. But I don’t like how nakamichi lied about several specs and there were tons of owners(total 603🤣) that were super pissed on Facebook, AV Forums and AVS too.

Of those I'd probably pick the Nakamichi Shockwafe (new) system. System looks like a beast to my eyes, followed by the Samsung, then Sonos. And I definitely believe that these new Shockwafe systems are more "True Nakamichi" than the older Shockwafe bars. I'd pick the Samsung 2nd because they're so hard to beat for the price. They sound great, & lots of adjustments to make it sound the best to your ears. Also the app controls work very well and stable connection too. Had the Q800B myself and it was a very strong system all around. Unfortunately I also wouldn't say anything about it fully blew me away. I pick Sonos 3rd. I had Sonos before (Arc, Era 100's, & Sub Mini. All open box prices). Strictly sound wise they're pretty good but I've heard better from Bose, Samsung, Klipsch, and a couple others. And their ecosystem can be buggy, idk if it's improved to the level of how it was before the app release, but even just setting up the system was a pain in the ass for me, especially if a rear speaker drops connection, having to reset the entire system, felt like I spent half my time actually having to reset the system, then other half the time I'd be able to actually listen to it fully. I think the Nakamichi system likely is still worth the extra money over Samsung.
