Take a look at Shockwafe Wireless system's 31 high-performance drivers. I've had mine for a week and it's awesome. It's also on sale for $800 off bringing it down to 1700. You get a lot of performance for that 1700. It's the dragons little brother. https://www.nakamichi-usa.com/shockwafe-wireless

I have the dragon with 2 12 inch subwoofers in front and 2 8 inch subwoofers in the back in my basement and it sounds incredible. I have the Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 in my master bedroom and firmware update and it's the best bang for the buck sounds very good.

I think the Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 is on a different level to the previous Nakamichi shockwafe SSE eARC 9.2.4 and it's very similar to the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 with 2 12 inch subwoofers in the front and 2 8 inch subwoofers in the back in my basement. The Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 is in my master bedroom and sounds incredible especially with the firmware update, I'm completely blown away. I'd give it 88 out of 100

It’s been about a week with the **Nakamichi Shockwafe Wireless 11.2.6**. Honestly, the first day felt a bit underwhelming sound wise but then I got a firmware update (came via mail the next day), and it completely transformed the experience. The soundstage now is just wild, that is in my high ceiling living room that’s not exactly acoustics friendly I think. Few months ago, someone recommended going with the Nakamichi shockwafe 9.2.4 wired version when I mentioned I was looking for a solid soundbar setup for high ceiling, then I waited for this one when I heard about a wireless one and snagged at the so called discounted price. I’ve also heard the full Sonos setup with the Era 300s and 990C at a friend’s place, and while that sounded great, the soundscape from the Nakamichi feels like something else entirely. Not sure why there’s not more hype around this product it really does hold its own, if not outperform in some ways. Still curious how the Samsung Q990D with just one sub compares to the Shockwafe. Like a lot of folks here, I tried to get the open box deal with the promo code, but that got cancelled. Thinking about grabbing it anyway just to do a comparison, especially with all the good things people are saying here and the price difference. Also any Dragon or previous Nakamichi owners have suggestions on fine tuning the settings for even better output? Would love to hear what’s worked for you.

I just got a JBL 1300x (MK1) and wasn’t impressed with it to be honest. The bar itself has no depth which means the crossover for the sub is high to address that; but I’m also picky with audio. I’ve noticed when the surrounds are plugged in to the bar, when playing music, no speakers on the bar produce sound, only the surrounds. Everything works when they’re unplugged of course. The bass is pretty dang good, just wish the EQ on the app would let you adjust stuff under 125hz, to help with that high crossover point. Honestly I don’t like the 1300x MK1 for music at ALL. Decent for movies however. If you’re paying ~1600 for the MK2, I’d check [this](https://store.nakamichi-usa.com/products/shockwafe-wireless-11-2-6) out. I’m returning my 1300x and picked up their Dragon setup. The dual 10” sub in the Shockwafe should provide more and better coverage for bass too.

What guy said the soundstage was the weakest? I’m Comparing The new Shockwafe at $2277 vs the dragon at $3999, Obviously that’s with the 8” subs. Basically half price and never enough tech said Atmos is better, immersion is better and the subs are better on the Shockwafe! Maybe I’ll give it a try! I demoed the dragon and I liked things but disliked things more and overall to me it wasn’t worth it. Everyone is different and I’m sure the new subs are good, but only hitting 30hz for a $1500 sub is clearly not a good deal, it’s average at best. Many of the people touting these highly overpriced subs obviously have never heard real subs before, but if it makes you happy do it. I’m obviously not a Nakamichi hater or I wouldn’t consider demoing the new shockwafe, Watching NET say it’s better than the dragon with 8’s and basically half price, gave me a inkling to actually give it a try.

I’d agree with what @djsimmz said. I demoed the dragon and it was good, but I couldn’t get any overhead-spatial effects and the subs would die and bottom out and the noises it would make drove me insane. I myself have the Sony Quads and although their sub is also pretty bad, I still can’t believe how awesome its Atmos effects are. I also tried the arc ultra with era 300s and a gen 4 sub and I’d say that system does everything well. It was close but the Quads just wow me and I was sold. I would look at the Shockwafe with the 2 10” subs that is going for 2299-2499, as with the dragon and it’s chuffy 8” subs, I would need the 12” subs and I’m not paying 6 thousand for 2 12” subs that are not great. People, some of them say the 12”s are great and they are far from great, but this just shows how pitiful the 8”subs are. I would demo my Quads vs the new Shockwafe, but forget the dragon imo

Who? Scooby? He’s got buyers remorse and is taking it out on the world. Hey, if people like it that’s great, but I tried it and sent it back after 12 days. Those 8” subs were awful and I only got Atmos effects during the demos which sound good on most soundbars. The one thing that irks me is his and anyone else who says “It’s Not A Soundbar”.. I’m literally not a Nakamichi hater and after watching nets review of the Shockwafe at half the price and what he calls the best bass he’s heard yet on a soundbar system gave me pause to maybe give it a try. But I don’t like how nakamichi lied about several specs and there were tons of owners(total 603🤣) that were super pissed on Facebook, AV Forums and AVS too.

Nakamichi Shockwafe is no big deal. Tried it like I tried the dragon over a year ago and it just doesn’t seem right for 2 10” subs to have average bass and my Quads Atmos is leagues ahead. I guess it’s okay for the price but I’d rather pay more and be happy with the quality than save and be disappointed. My Arc Ultra era300s and 2 subs was expensive but it does everything so well. It’s your money, you should try several different brands til you find the one that you love. After all that the Ambeo max with a svs pb 2000 pro or 1000 pro. But obviously wait until prices plummet

I bought the dragon but sent it back in less than 2 weeks. The bass is just bad regardless of the dragon lovers and there was no height effects. I compared it to the Sony Quads and the atmos on them is second to none, where I got basically no height effects from the dragon. I’m currently running a 2.1 for my music timeouts as no bar sounds good or should I say compares to a good 2.1. I have since heard the Shockwafe and I personally think the new drivers and bigger dual 10” subs mesh better than the dragon with the dual 8” subs which bottom out way too early. I also paid over $4,000 and now the dragon fluctuates between between $2700-$3899 while the shockwafe has been as low as $2099. So I’m obviously not a Nakamichi hater which I got a lot of from the dragon fanboys. I’m thinking about trying it out in the family room as I really liked what I heard and keep my Quads in my med sized master bedroom. So, what did you eventually get and how do you like it??

I have had it for about two weeks now. I'm pretty happy with mine. I can't even bump the volume to 10 because of how loud it is upstairs. If I compared it to my dedicated theater room with 7.1.4, its almost there but not quite. However, I like the ease of setup and not having to fuss with the projector and in the dark cold basement.

I like the sound on the arc ultra better than the Sony quads it’s much crisper I don’t really know how to describe it. The absolute best deal on soundbar packages is by far Nakamichi right now. The dragon and shockwafe 11.2.6 are soo cheap right now for what u get. $1699 for the new wireless shockwafe is sooo good. The Nakamichi soundbars and bass are on a whole different level. You can get the dragon right now for $2200. If you haven’t heard a Nakamichi you really should I think you would really really like

The 11.2.6 shockwafe has a bigger sound bar but only 2 side or rear speakers with 2 10in downfiring speakers and is 2300watts. The 9.2.4 is $1299 and the 11.2.6 is $1699. They are both two of the best soundbars u can get. And it’s a lot for the money they are both on steep discount from there website right now

The arc ultra is a great bar but by the time you get the sub and rear’s it’s pretty expensive. You can add more subs and speakers to the Arc ultra over time so that is awesome but by the time you get them all you could have bought a Nakamichi dragon or shockwafe 11.2.6 wireless system for less money and they will blow the Arc ultra away. You should really check out the shockwafe 11.2.6 right now it’s $1699 and you get 2 10in subs it’s $800 off right now

Samsung gets posted soo much because it is just really hard to beat especially for the money and most people want the best soundbar system for the money. My favorite soundbars are Nakamichi and Samsung and they are the ones I own so I recommend those to other people. I have experience with a lot of soundbars including the arc ultra complete setup and it’s great but you really pay a lot for what you get so I have a hard time recommending it. If you want the absolute best then go with a Nakamichi shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 or dragon and if you want the most soundbar for the money go with a Samsung 990 series even tho I don’t care for the 990F’s sub very much but it’s fine for a lot of people. JBL really stepped it up this year and I’m very interested in the 1300xMKII looks to be very promising. The Sony Quad to me is just like the arc ultra very good but really too expensive for what u get. The bar8 and 9 I feel just arnt as good as the 990 series. If you already have a Samsung TV then I highly recommend going with the 990 series they just go great together. Nothing is better than Nakamichi right now tho nothing can take on the shockwafe and it’s only $1699. It’s as good as some really expensive sound systems

I own the 990D in my living room and the Nakamichi wireless in my theater. The shockwafe wireless is awesome and even a little bit better than the base dragon with the 8in woofers. In my opinion the shockwafe wireless is the best soundbar package you can buy. The soundbar is a beast and the rear speakers are also. Very good Dolby Atmos performance and the 2 ported 10in woofers hit really hard and are more than enough for most anyone. Unless you are planning on adding the 12in subs to the Dragon at some time I recommend the shockwafe over the dragon setup. The shockwafe 11.2.6 is more than enough for a very large living room

I almost went with the dragon but wanted the two ported 10in woofers and it rated a little higher on Dolby Atmos. I heard there was an update that made the Atmos perform better on the dragon now tho. Even the shockwafe earc 9.2.4 looks like a really good system. I highly recommend Nakamichi to people. The 990D is really good also

I can’t recommend a soundbar more than the shockwafe it is hands down the best Dolby Atmos soundbar set up and it’s 2 ported 10’s will blow away the single JBL 12. The shockwafe woofers use a lot more watts than the JBL 1300x MK2 that only uses 300 watts to the 12in sub. I returned the 990f because I didn’t like the sub. I would probably rather have the JBL 1300xMK2 than 990f but I really like the 990D. As far as the shockwafe it blows all these other bars away there is no better package not even the dragon unless you buy the extra 12in woofers. The shockwafe is a 2300watt system with I believe 600watts going to each 10in sub so 1200 watts going to the subs it is just awesome. I have my shockwafe in my theater along with an AVR 5.1.2 system that I spent about $5k on that uses an SVS PB3000 sub. I like using the shockwafe the most out of my systems. I had the 990f for about 14 days actually 13 I returned it to Best Buy right before my return date ended. I traded for a 990D and I am really happy. I just couldn’t get the sub on the 990F to my liking no matter what setting and where I placed it. I put it all over too. They should have made the F with a ported 10 or 12in sub. I like the sub on the D quite a bit more. It’s not perfect but absolutely suitable for my needs and I have a large living room. If you can find it for $1000 or less I highly recommend. You should check out the Nakamichi shockwafe wireless also that is an awesome system and it’s only $1699 right now. If you are an absolute bass hound it uses 2 ported down firing 10in subs. The rear speakers and soundbar are really really good also and it’s all wireless like the 990 series. It’s a 2300 watt system so it’s extremely loud and hits hard. The 990D gets loud also and when you get the bass set up and tuned right with bass enhancement on it hits harder than you would expect it shakes the couch and the things on your walls

I go off of what I have personally experience not ratings. Ratings is a very professional and trusted source. I have experienced all these soundbars that I speak of and I was most disappointed with the Sonos especially with all the hype that was behind it I was very let down can’t believe how much they charge when there is clearly better choices out there for the money. Nakamichi and the 990 are much better choices to the Sonos arc ultra I don’t even like how the Sonos 300’s work or look. Sonos gen 4 sub is good but way overpriced and any Nakamichi setup will blow it away. Hence why I own and have kept the 990D and the shockwafe wireless 11.2.6. The subs on the shockwafe really are awesome and the whole set up is just $1699 right now. Sono’s is my last choice when it comes to a sound bar set up. Sure if they dropped in price to half what they are charging then it would be different but even then the Sonos would not be the best

No honestly I’ve never seen that segment I might look it up and watch it. I don’t have any experience with the 800F I’ve never even heard one but I would definitely think the Sonos would be better. My buddy has the entire Sonos arc ultra set up and when he went on a 5 week vacation he let me take it to my house and experience it cause I was real interested in buying it. I got real familiar with the system in fact it was set up where my 990D is now in my living room which is very large. The Sonos ended up being a real disappointment to me and I went with the 990f but returned that on day 13 back to Best Buy because I could not for the life of me get the sub to perform decently. I ended up getting the 990D and am very very satisfied I love the system. I have the shockwafe wireless 11.2.6 in my theater and that is definitely the best I’ve experienced in a sound bar but the 990D isn’t to far behind. Hence why I’m telling everyone I can to get the 990D while they still can cause it overperformed what I was expecting and for the price I paid at $1000 there is no better

I’m extremely behind on my YouTube video reviews, but I have the JBL 1300X MK2, Shockwafe, and Q990. Get rid of the Q990 for the Shockwafe. Total watts don’t tell the full story btw. For example, higher quality amps/drivers with lower watts will sound better/stronger/louder than a lower quality amps/driver with higher watts. The JBL MK2 has crystal clear sound, Atmos, and voice clarity at all bass levels - the sub hits really hard….depending on placement and etc, it can be in the same bass ballpark as the 2 Nakamichi 10’s. It’s a definite improvement across the board over last year’s JBL 1300X. If you HAD to get rid of both, the Shockwafe is worth the sacrifice over the other 2. Outside of going the home theater route, NOTHING will come close to the cinema power experience of going Nakamichi Shockwafe or Dragon with 2-4 12 inch subwoofers if you can afford the Dragon. Still, the JBL MK2 is very competitive, gets you pretty close to the Nakamichi Shockwafe route especially for the price, and imo is the most underrated soundbar system of 2025.

They’re actually similar volume wise. I doubt you’ll ever go past 20-25 on the JBL similar to the Nakamichi. Nakamichi Shockwafe can hit 110-120 dB depending on setup. JBL doesn’t state the total decibel level, but focuses on immersion. I can assure you it’s more than enough to rival a basic home theater setup volume and decibel wise. You’ll want to turn it down, it gets very loud. I thought my Samsung Q990 was loud before (100 dB), but the JBL is louder.
