Value for movies and easy setup, but music falls flat.

I agree 100% with @viper4713 to get the Q600F if you can for $297!! You can literally put the subwoofer anywhere if you need to hide it, as without a sub, you would have to really up your budget for a stand-alone soundbar that will provide enough bass to make your entire experience sound good. Just thinking that the only soundbar even close to your budget without a sub would be a klipsch core200 which was $399 last week and maybe a Sonos beam2 that can go on sale for $369 maybe? The Sub makes a drastic upgrade, so unless you want to spend $400, or more(would still add a sub asap) go with Viper’s recommendation!
Would you consider paying almost $100 more for a $700 soundbar on sale for $297? It would be so much better, clarity wise, not just for volume. Other than that, Samsung should be much better than Insignia. [Samsung Q600F](https://electronics.woot.com/offers/samsung-hw-q600f-zp-ndbar-3-1-2ch-q-series-subwoof)
I don't personally know a bunch about the Q60CF but with a quick mini AI research, Gemini said it's a similar soundbar usually a "Costco Bundle" and it said the sound quality of the Q600F is a little better but didn't say much why. ChatGPT said the Q600F is much better in terms of sound quality and even says the bass is higher quality while the Q60CF has boomier bass which of course boomier isn't always a good thing, it hints at possible distortion. The fact that the MSRP of the Q60CF is $499 and the Q600F is $699 makes me think the Q600F must have better drivers and a sub for sure. I mean why else would they make it $200 extra if Gemini's "they're the same thing I think" notion were true. So for $2 less.... Eh I mean.... Yes do it, return it while you can I say, why not? Why not get the technically better one. A technically $700 soundbar for $300?! Woo! The main Q Series soundbars are so good, these side Q(CF) and QS Series just confuse me honestly, they are cheaper but are kind of half Q Series, it's weird. It's like Baby Q Series?
It depends, channel numbers do not equal quality. Insignia is not a huge premium brand for soundbars. An expensive 2.1 setup can sound much better than a cheap 5.1.2 set up. In your case it will be an upgrade being in the same brand. However.... Compared to more real premium soundbars that are 5.1.2, it will be absolute trash in that regard, and that's just the truth. Although you could still be happy with it, and that's totally fine! Just understand that these soundbars can get really great, there are more real 5.1.2 soundbars that would make you think "I didn't even know this is even remotely possible!" But obviously do what you're happy with. If you can afford to invest more.... You could get the Samsung Q800F brand new for $499 instead of $799 right now which is a 5.1.2 setup but it's all in the front, and uses clever techniques to try and be surround sound. You could later down the line get the Samsung 9500S rear speaker kit and make it a 7.1.4 setup. Without or without the rears you will be absolutely blown away compared to what you have or what you would consider getting. You could also go for quality for cheaper rather than channel numbers and get a Q600F for $297.99 instead of $699 which these are great deals! Not as good as the Q800F but if you wanted to save money, this will still outperform the Insignia. Woot(an Amazon overstock company) is selling them brand new, I bought a Q990F and it's been perfect. Unless you are trying to avoid a sub for some odd reason, having no sub is not a huge upgrade. If you spend just a tad more you could literally get a Samsung Q Series soundbar for under $300 from Woot which is an Amazon overstock company which is trustworthy because I bought a Q990F from there along with a ton of people. S Series from Samsung are more budget and not as good and Sonos is an overpriced situation where it's probably worth about $99 let's get real. The Q600F is usually $599 but it's on sale for $399 from Samsung but only $297 from Woot right now. It would be so much better in every way and even supports Dolby Atmos, it's a no brainer. Remember just invest now and turn the sub down if you don't want it too strong. It won't be overpowered, you're just getting a better deal and product. The sub needs to be plugged in for electricity only. For the audio signal it's completely wireless and can go anywhere in the room. There isn't really a wrong way of doing it, I prefer having it by the TV somewhere, but some people have had it behind their couch. But it sounds weird to me because you get more vibrations from behind and it makes it sound slightly flatter from the front because no bass is coming from the front. When the sub is in front of you, it sounds like it's all coming from one magical sound source or something. Lol But have it on the floor, real noobs will have the sub sitting on a bookshelf or something and that's just silly. You can play around with it and move it around and see what you like. The Q60CF is basically identical, it's just a Costco exclusive version but it has all the same features and watts. So if you can get it without having to wait on shipping or whatever, then do it if you want it! The Q600F is $399 at best buy so you would be getting a good Costco deal! I used to have the Q600A which was a much older model of that series and I was like "holy molly" But then I moved to a Q800B and was like "holy freaking moly!" Then I sold the Q600A moved the Q800B to a different room and got the Q990F and it was game over, the theater sounds lower quality now in terms of clarity. So yeah.... The Q60CF or Q600F, you're gonna love the heck out of it if you get it. Remember, there is always return policy! Just "rent it" and see if you like it, if not, give it back. Use a credit card and no real money ever gets spent yet! Lol
I'd felt the same way. I was upgrading from a Yamaha YAS108 which had started to cut out. Bought a Vizio and immediately repackaged it and returned. Sound was funny and it just didn't feel rich. Bought a Samsung Q6cc and then added rear surrounds for under $200 and I'm absolutely blown away by the fidelity of the system. The sound is full, rich, and dialogue is crystal clear. I have no idea why anyone would opt for a full theater system over one of these today.
That much different? Wow. I recently entered the soundbar era with a Q6CC which was on sale at Walmart. Added the rears and I'm absolutely blown away. I actually just want to sit and watch TV shows and movies. Many on repeat because it sounds so insanely good and I'm coming from a Yamaha soundbar which was just an all in one bar. I'm still getting used to the sub being next to my couch. I can't place the sub next to the TV so the audio can feel a little weird and disjointed. But once you're into the movie, man it sounds awesome
I bought the Samsung Q6CC 3.1 bar from Walmart, then quickly added the rear surrounds and it is insane how good it sounds. All for under $250. Traditionalists came in and were astounded. Guilty looks on all their faces as to why they had to through the entire expensive process of installing their 5.1 and 7.1 systems.
Samsung has a much stronger history of soundbars and are among the best with the 990 series. I myself had the Q600Cwith the 9200s surrounds and it was great and currently have the Q60C in my living room. The Onn 5.1.2 is definitely good at its $199 price but I would trust Samsung more if you are willing to pay a little bit more
Hard disagree. Surrounds add so much dimension and immersion. Completely transformed movie watching experience when I added the 9200s surrounds to my Q600c

the bar dtsx support. its a q60b , he need that dtsx app to get the option to show
I recently got the Samsung HW-Q60CF 3.1.2 (Costco version of Q600f) at $350 (it's more expensive now but I'm sure it will drop again). Much better than the TV speakers, and I would definitely recommend at least 3 channels for better dialogue audio. I would recommend a sub as well, it adds a lot to the experience. I also added the Samsung 9250S Wireless Rear Speakers for $56 (used like new Amazon). Is it the best soundbar setup you can get? No, but at \~$400 I am happy with what I got. It's a great little setup until I upgrade to something more 'endgame' in the future.
