r/Soundbars5.1 soundbar vs 9.1.4 soundbar

My previous system was a Sony 5.1 speaker setup, which was rather great but it was worn out after over 15 years. I was nervous about getting a soundbar system because I had heard some years ago and they never impressed me. They’ve gotten way better, I ended up getting a q910c, which is 9.1.2 and I’m still blown away by how much more immersive it is, even from a 5.1 source. I do wish for stronger bass, my friend has a Sonos and that thing has one badass sub, the first time I went to his house, I heard it from another room and thought he had a full fledged home theater setup.

I replaced my 500 watt Sony 5.1 “dream system” with a Samsung Q910D and it’s way better sounding and much easier to setup and deal with Edit: it was 500 watts, not 1000

Can’t you go circlejerk in r/hometheater ? Why come here just to shit on soundbars? How is it hard to believe my 9.1.2 sounds better than a 20 year old 5.1?

r/SoundbarsTCL S55H 2.1ch any good ??

I had a S55H and it wasn't too bad at all. Recently found Samsung q910d's for great price, so I upgraded. For the price the TCL was pretty decent

Some of the Samsungs, like my Q910C, can do a virtual "surround sound" that does a pretty good job of creating the effect of having rear satellite speakers. I used it for a bit due to having to relocated my tv setup to a temporary location while I was having work done in my living room. Also, I would stick with Samsung if your OLED TV supports Q-Symphony because it adds another layer to the sound stage

You can get the Samsung Q930D for $700 on Woot. I bought my parents the Q990D and it's an amazing sound bar. Those rear speakers pack a punch, and the Dolby Atmos performance is great. If that is a little above your budget, you can get the Samsung Q910D for $490 from Walmart. It's a different set of rear speakers, but still a great sound bar.

I have the Q910D and I was watching Into the Spider-verse at 11. I didn't make it past the opening credits to the actual movie before my wife was yelling at me to turn it down, it was rumbling the shelves upstairs. When I listen to music above 10 I find it plenty loud for the room it's in. And when I watch movies alone and have it up around 20, the loud parts are almost uncomfortably loud. I love it lol

It was much better than I expected, I usually listen to HD650's for music and the soundbar shocked me. Very clear, very loud and no distortion, not that I'm pushing it. And for movies, having the rear channels really helps the experience. I wanted to do a full AVR but I'm priced out, even for used items. So I grabbed this for $700 and have zero regrets despite my initial apprehension.

I just picked up a Samsung HW-Q910D for $733CAD and it's been worth every damn penny. If you can find a last generation high end unit for the right price I highly recommend it. It won't beat a mid to high end dedicated home theatre setup but for the price and easy setup I think it's competitive.

Q910D is probably half the price of the 990D and a great soundbar in its own right. I wouldn’t spend $1500 or a $1009 on a soundbar if I lived in an apartment because I wouldn’t be able to fully utilize it without disturbing the neighbors.

Can’t go wrong with the 910D. I use it in a medium sized living room and it is more than enough.

Q910D. Coolbeans on eBay has one left. I bought one from him and it’s great.

I don’t understand it either. First I upgraded from a Yamaha to a Samsung 9.1.2 soundbar over a year ago and I felt like my ears finally opened up. It sounded incredible. Then I was inspired to go further and upgrade to a home theater system. The soundbar is great for its simplicity and thats what I missed most about it. Of course not all soundbars can produce the same sound. But I argue depending on what kind of person you are, an expensive soundbar can give you more than a home theater system could.

The q symphony is hard to notice if I am being honest. Not because it isnt good, it seems decent, but I had a 5.1 Logitech PC system before. The THX was nice but 11 speakers of Atmos is so amazing that adding 4 is like putting chocolate fudge on a chocolate bar after just eating vanilla wafers for years. Its richer and you cant say no, but the chocolate bar would have already been more than enough at this point. And yeah, I pushed to 30 for a bit and it was a lot in most cases. Went to 50 for fun and started getting worried I may blow a speaker out haha.

r/SoundbarsI want a Sonos but should I just get the Samsung Q990D/F?

Get the Sonos system. Samsung is terrible at support. Further you can buy the Sonos components from Costco. At least most of them. Return policy is quite generous as you probably know. Don’t be tempted by the Samsung pricing. It’s just not as good or reliable as the Sonos systems. He’ll even the JBL soundbar systems have better sound than the Q series.

I’ve had the sennheiser ambeo, Bose smart ultra, and the Samsung q800, in that order. First two were returned for connectivity issues with my newish Samsung tv. The q800 has been great (the ambeo probably had the best surround but only if it connected). Q symphony is amazing. With the first two bars, you could clearly tell the sound was coming from below the TV… q symphony fixes that completely. And the subwoofer is amazing.
