TL;DR: Immersive movies/gaming, strong bass, but poor music, exposed woofers.

Tbh, just try one 990f and see how it does. If you dont like it you can always return it. Volume wise it is plenty i have a decently size living room and I never go over 20 out of 100.

I mean, you could put the rears in front from the 990 to get a wider soundstage

Depends on the price points. But the 990d or f is better than the 800d.

I got the same TV, but 75-inch, and last night just ordered this. [Samsung Q990F 11.1.4ch Q Series Subwoofer + Rear Speaker, Wireless Dolby Atmos | eBay](https://www.ebay.com/itm/306378300516?epid=25078335958&itmmeta=01KF7B3RZ68ED9HWS9PS5DG23V&hash=item475591dc64:g:vmQAAeSwJr1pXnqb) After the 20% coupon (which runs through Jan 20th) and tax/shipping the total was **$722.39** I saw somebody else report it earlier in the week and it was sold out at the time (quantity 114), so I kept checking back, and it came up again yesterday, now sold out, quantity (120) but maybe it'll come back in the next two days.

I just use an Arc Ultra and a sub mini. It’s not as good as the Samsung 990 with the rear speakers (I left that with the old house, as I didn’t have space for it in new living room), but it is super clean and sounds really great for not having rears.

I don't understand, you bought the best soundbar in that price range and returned. Jbl will not be as good. You should have stuck with 990d and if you really hate the music on it so much, then get something dedicated for music. I am sorry, but I have been reading for a while and 990d/f are the top in that price range

Just got the q990f and it's inane. I absolutely love it.

It's been a long time. I had a sony 5.1 setup over a decade ago. This seems much more immersive and powerful.

I upgraded from Vizio Atmos system to the Q990f. In terms of clarity and immersion, the Q990f blows the Vizio away. The only thing i had some time adjusting was the the subwoofer. The Vizio bass filled the room in a way the Samsung sometimes doesn't. Like its not lacking power by any means. Sometimes the woofer literally shakes my entire living room. But i know some movie scenes where the bass of the Vizio was just more present. Samsung is tuned to be more precise.

I actually own the Samsung Q990F, and in my space it’s been incredible. In fact, for movies the bass can be overwhelming — it shakes the whole room — and that’s without even increasing the subwoofer level beyond the default. In a large open store it can feel underwhelming, but in a typical living room it hits much harder than you’d expect, while still keeping dialogue crystal clear. For music, my experience matches yours from the demo: it’s very clean and detailed with great separation, and it doesn’t get overly boomy. That’s one of the reasons I went with it — I wanted something I could listen to for long stretches without fatigue. The JBL 1300 definitely gives you that “cinema rumble” right away, but you’ll need to dial it back for news or dialogue-heavy content. The LG S95TR is a good middle ground, but personally, I prefer the Samsung’s vocal clarity and surround separation, especially for mixed content. If you can, I’d still take that JBL home demo since it’s being offered — just keep in mind that the Samsung will likely deliver more bass in your home than what you heard in-store, so I wouldn’t write it off purely based on the showroom experience.

If you care more about fuller bass and that “room-filling” feel, the JBL Bar 1300/MK2 is going to lean into that strength, especially with the detachable rears giving you true surround. If you want something more polished, consistent, and with cleaner dialogue clarity out of the box, the Samsung Q990F is the safer pick. From what you described—liking the bassier sound when you demoed them—the JBL seems more in line with your preference, while the Samsung is more about balance and refinement.

Mine is behind The tv and works very well, i tried next to the sofa but the sound came from the side and didnt liked

I just got the 990f, i started with the LG S80T (stretching the budget) because of the integración with the tv, and have it for a couple of months. But something doesnt felt right, i mean sound was great but bass wasnt that strong and atmos didnt feel very great. So was thinking about the S95 but reviews was similiar to s80 despiste of being an upper level. So got a nice offer, 550€ and went for it. The first time i use it i felt that wow factor that the LG didnt gave me. It is very soon to have a clear opinión, but so far i can say: Bass is stronger and maybe a little bit bummy Dialogs are not that clear as the LG Atmos feel very nice For the few hours that i have the sound bar, for me is a YES

I havent found the right configuration yet, I’m constantly changing volume for dialogs and environment sounds, im betwen 12 and 20 volume. I think the LG was better on dialogs

I have an lg oled and went with the Samsung and do not regret it. I feel a lot of the gimmicks for matching tv with soundbar are just that, gimmicks. I would say Samsung hands down.

Sounds like you have a faulty unit. That’s definitely not normal.

Any soundbar can do. But depends on how immersed you want to be. A 200 dollar soundbar is not going to sound near as good as a 1000 dollar one. I have a Samsung q990 and it trumps every other soundbar I’ve had up to this point. I’d highly recommend it if you have the cash. But if not, any soundbar will be better than tv speakers.
