Hello to everyone! Theatre bar 7 standalone is more dynamic versus theatre bar 8. Bar 8 have more low frequency at sound, but sounds more flat, more clinical. Sub 8 is a beast. Sub 7 is good working for small room. Theatre bar 7 + sub 7 have very good sound. With sub 8 maybe low frequency is little aggressive. I think bar 7 have different crossover with sub 7 and sub 8. Theatre bar 8 with sub 8 is better than bar 7 and sub 7 combo. When added sa-rs5 bar 8 + sub8+ sa-rs5 is a way better sounding system. Bar 7 + sub7 is really good sounding system. When added rear speakers to bar 7 + sub 7 there is a new option at Bravia connect application. We can make all channel stereo, and rear speakers reproduce full sound stage, not only surround effects. I have all tree systems in different rooms. Best sounding for me for large room is bar9 + sub9 + rear 9 (soon I hope second sa-sw9 be added to this setup). For medium room full set bar 8 + sub8 + rear speakers (sa-rs5 or sa-rs9) Bar 7 standalone sounding baseless, but with sa-sw7 oh man… another beer. Perfect sounding. With sa-sw8 bar 7 have potential for medium room without a problem. https://preview.redd.it/1r7rmfyddx4h1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cf4102c57c54946a2fb6c7df07d709dec6a6f465
Hello. For large room bar 9 have more power and more dynamic. Soundstage is wilder with more balanced tone. But if you have medium room maybe better choice is bar8. I tested and big difference is with more open space. With medium or small room bar 8 is better choice. After calibration bar 8 and bar 9 difference is not big if you don’t have large room. But this is only for my ears. I didn’t make test with bar 8 with sa-sw7 . My bar 8 system combo is with sa-sw8 and sa-rs5. I don’t know anything about Sa-rs7. We didn’t have sa-ra7 here.
I use Bar 9 with Bravia 7 TV and I am using center Sync. It doesn't bring much but it is still better with than without. Everything together sounds great.
Underwhelming?? I guess something is wrong with your unit or you don't use it properly.
Sony bar 9 sounds amazing!
Sony Bar 9 +RS5 would complete the set up! It sounds great.
Bar 9 sounds great to me. Clear and clean. Without Sub the bass is quite good from the Bar I think. Accoustic Synd doesn't bring much (but I still have it on ON all the time) and RS5 sound also really good and bring a lot to the surround sound (of course). Also you will get extra on-screen menus with Bar9. Then you don't need the app all the time. It's just a pity that Sony's products are so expansive. But Bar9 sounds really good 😉
Bar 9 with the mode DTS neural-X sounds great for music! Very impressive I think. It makes a kind of surround sound with stereo music.
Accoustic Sync is not worth it. It's a gimmick. But you should still consider to buy a Sony Soundbar with your Sony TV. You will get some settings on-screen without using the app (that is a bit buggy). Also you will be able to use only one remote for everything. I think it's really easier to stay in the same brand. By the way the Bar 9 sounds great n it's own (I guess the Sonos too)
Why not Bar 9? Paired with SW7, SW3, SW5 and RS5? RS5 makes the difference!
I bought it and it sounds good enough for my room. If you don't need huge boomy basses to shake your entire house you should definitely check SW3 or SW7. I thought SW7 would lack power but I have to say that I am surprised (for the price its really a good value). The Sony tax is too big on SW5 I think. The Bar9 itself is already quite powerful. The Sub brings more depth but that's the rear speakers RS5 that really make the difference and bring the Sony bubble. Hope it helps.
I had the Bar9 alone for a year first and I have to say that it has already good basses on its own. But of course not very boomy and it will not shake your house but it was already quite good. Why not buy the Theater Sub 7? It brings a bite more boom Hitout shaking everything and it's not very expansive (at least here in Belgium).
Q990 serie is louder but I still think Bar 9 is cleaner. In the shop the Sony sound mapping isn't working good. At home the sound mapping really makes the difference. The Samsung has good speakers throwing sound to you while the Sony has a great algorithm. And I can assure you that music sounds great on the Bar 9. RS5 are also great rear speakers. The SW5 works better with Bar 9 compared to S2000 which is a bad soudbar. Sound is not just about how deep a Sub goes you know... Of course Samsung wins the value for price but Bar9+Sub+RS5 sounds gorgeous with music and movie.
Sony Bar 9 is a great all in one soundbar.
I have the Bar9+RS5+Theater Sub7 and it sounds great and is very well integrated with my TV Bravia 7. Everything works with the same remote. That makes things easier for the family (no cables, only one remote, everything switches on/off directly). The Bar 9 by itself sounded already really good (and basses were also quite good for a Bar alone). With the small new Sub the sound is even better of course. It frees the Bar. And this little Sub7 is not that expansive for once. I even don't need the app to control the system. That is exactly what I wanted (the app is a bit buggy/slow). For movies and music the whole system sounds really good. Of course an AVR would be better but I love the simplicity and the fact that everything works without any wire. You can adjust everything as you want! Some people don't get it but that's why people buy soundbar. It's just easier and still sounds good.
Sony theater Bar 9 +Theater Sub 7 sounds great even at low volume!
Samsung q990c I have this and it's very good in atmos. After seeing the prices at JBL or Sonos too... Sony bar 9 can be
Second that. Had to go with the bar 9/sw5/rs5 route but my first option was the quad with a sub
They are reversed. Sony is known for its tvs and Samsung for their audio. I paired my Bravia 9 with the Q990D and it’s been an awesome experience.
I don't know how it compare to Theatre Bar 8, but my Theatre Bar 9 perform very well.
If you have the money to spare do it. Due to be a Sony Electronics product the Soundbar menu is integrated into the TV menu, and you can control everything with the TV controller ( besides the mobile app for more specialised stuff ).
