I just got a Sony HT S20R after extensive research. I’ve set it up today in a small living room, the set has one soundbar, a subwoofer, and 2 surround sound small speakers but I’ve not added the small speakers to the set up It’s older technology, but for what I need from an audio set up it’s perfect. Subwoofer has volume controls and the entire set up has night mode so the floorboards aren’t shaking cause it’s quite effective in how loud and booming the sound can be even at half volume I’d definetly say it’s an upgrade from speakers on Samsung TV Also has Bluetooth connectivity for phone etc for podcasts/music/radio ideal Picked up in the UK for £179 on sale, reduced from £229
I just bought soundbar for pc and its the worst purchase i have ever made.I had two options. Bookshelf speakers without subwoofer or soundbar. I narrowed it down to edifier mr 4 or sony ht s20r. I heard that studio monitors and budget bookshelf speakers aren't great at higher volume and i also wanted subwoofer so my dumbass went for ht s20r thinking i will just keep the volume low when i'm on my computer and i can cranc it up if i want to listen to bass heavy music. It had acceptable sound in store but when i got home and set it up it was horrible for near field listening. Lyrics sound shouty and piercing af, if i keep volume low it lost all the details (which it didn't have much in first place). For it to sound decent i had to increase volume move back to other edge of my room (small room).its just as bad for gaming at lower volumes surroundings are kind of mute and at higher volume its good but my ears hurt. I wanted to save money and now i will be spending double. Do yourself a favour and just buy studio monitors because most of the. Small ones are for near field listening or buy desktop speakers despite of bad reputation in audiophile community
I think it's decent for movies and boomy music in the medium room. It just turned out to be a horrible choice for my use case
Any suggestions for a good soundbar for a room size of 120 sqft. I actually have a tight budget under 20K to upgrade my current speakers set to a nice soundbar for a peaceful sound quality. What are the options and what would be the best soundbar based on my room size. What i have in mind is using my existing speaker and put to one back and then use the soundbar from the front wall to create a nice experience. Would that be good? Update: Ended up buying Sony HT-S20R soundbar and so far its delivers clear and surrounded experience. This is where I finally ended up [https://www.dealivore.in/blog/best-soundbar](https://www.dealivore.in/blog/best-soundbar) and make the decision. It showcased a good comparison.
The HT-S20R is a decent soundbar for the price, a bit bass heavy but fine for 15k or so. The problems that I do foresee with this one though is that it has only 1 HDMI port, and 3.5 MM jack can't do anything but 2.0/ 2.1 channel audio. unless you have an tv or monitor with hdmi EARC it's basicly useless for 5.1 and so on.
no soundbar or home theatre will do 5.1 over blutooth
I was looking to buy s40r from almost 4 years.. as i wanted a good ht setup with rear wireless.. As i was seeing lot of reviews, then i was looking lg s65tr, lg s75tr (as it has atmos though single center speaker) And i finally bought s20r from croma at 11.5k after listening to s20r, s40r, lg sq70ty and few jbl 590 My sister has jbl 270 Out of the options you mentioned, the sound profile is completely different for jbl and sony. At store, i liked sony and while listening i was just 3 feet awat from sony ht whereas in case of jbl, i was bit far away. The key is sound profile.. in jbl it is more booming lower bass whereas sony as thumping bass.. difference is very clear. Coming to s20r after delivery, i was disappointed with 400w system as earlier i was using creative sbs270 which felt loud and good... As i started using sony s20r, i understood what sony is for.. sound is very very clear.. you can hear dialogues at any audio levels.. and i dont think it will be much loud if looking for roomsize above 250sq feet.. You can go for s20r if you just looking for good audio for movies with upper bass and only dolby digital.. Avoid this if you are looking for hdmi pass through as it doesn't support it. So far watched two movies (king of kotha and madrassi) it is good.. but can only comment if i watch a movie that I'm waiting for.. example rajasab or og etc.
Sony s20r doesn't sound good, I tried also
Sony HT-S20R Arc. Dolby digital. soundbar, woofer 2 surround speakers $200 HomePod minis are impressive but the y don’t beat an actual soundbar. Have HomePod minis on one tv and this on another this wins hands down.
