It might look a bit weird. But not everybody has a home theater room like myself. You'll maybe hear it a bit to good at one side to have the perfect effect. If your tv has bluetooth you can always buy a wireless headphone. I bought the ht-sf 150 2.0 recently for 100€ and the sound was a lot better than the tv. Too bad it didn't sync with my HT.

My cheap sony ht-sf 150 2.0 (100€) soundbar compared to tv speakers is a big bump in quality. Ok, there is almost no base and it doesn't have any surround effects and if you have a HT or premium soundbar with rear speakers it does feel a bit flat. You have 3 options, midrange soundbar with sub, av receiver with 2 stereo towers or bluetooth wireless headphone if your tv has bluetooth with maybe a cheaper soundbar + sub. Its more of a scale 1 to 10 thing. If 1-2 is tv speakers, my ht-sf 150 2.0 is like a 4-5, and my HT with extra stereo speakers in the rear is like a 7-8. A good headphone will also be like a 7-8. You can't get everything if you you're on a budget.

Hi all, got a new LGTV C5 OLED this week. I knew the reviews had said the display quality is excellent (which I agree with) but the sound of the TV is not it's strong point. I didn't know the extent of this issue. Tried different films on different apps. Tried Titanic on Disney+, Oppenheimer on Netflix, Top Gun Maverick from an external drive and music videos on YouTube. Also tried games through a PS5. All of that to say, in all of these dialogue is so unintelligible, it's extremely quiet in scenes across the board. Then when you have to turn the volume up for these scenes, suddenly a loud noise is ridiculously loud to the point where it's overwhelming. I'm constantly having to adjust the volume scene to scene. Quiet is too quiet and loud is too loud. Messed around with the settings, turned Dolby Atmos off and got it to a slightly better place with the equalizer where 1khz and 3khz were pushed to +10 and the rest down to -10 but even still action was very loud and the volume was needing to be adjusted regularly. Did some reading online, found that sound bars were meant to be a solution. Ordered a SONY HT-SF150 2.0 and tried it today via HDMI. Used the Dialogue mode and Night mode and again exact same issues. Dialogue too quiet, action too loud. I'm absolutely stumped now, will probably have to return this soundbar. The levels on my old Samsung TV were much more flat and consistent. Need any tips to make this better, it's ruining the new TV experience.
