I see tons of posts like this on Reddit, and it annoys me when people bash unfairly. Happy Ultimea customer here! Yeah, it’s not Klipsch or Focal, but who offers a real 5.1 system for €100? Think twice before slamming a brand and its fans. I love my Poseidon D50 (clear sound and solid bass), and I’m stoked for my Skywave X100. Test it out, share your setup—if you don’t like it, I’ll help with the return. Go for it! (I’m French so excuse my formulation with software)
Honestly, if your budget can stretch just a little further, the D60 is worth it. It support Dolby Atmos true 5.1 ch. D50 is okay for casual TV, but D60 feels more better
I had both the D50 and D60 for a week during return window — ended up keeping the D60. Bass is cleaner, and I swear the dialogue is clearer even without a dedicated center channel boost. Atmos decoding does add something, especially if your content supports it.
I bought the Ultimea D40 and D50. At first I was impressed with thew sound, but after testing it on a few movie scenes, I found that The bass was muffled and the dialogue was over whelmed by music and other sounds. Then I heard about the Onn 5.1.2 which is Walmarts brand. I bought it for $199 and it was 10x better. Dialogue was better and the sound was much more crisp. The big difference here is that this has 2 up firing speakers which add even more depth for sound meant to be above you. I have done a tome of research and i will say that the Onn 5.1.2 is the best you will get for $200 or under.
I just bought 2 to try out. Trash. The sound isn't great, vocals get drowned out.
I just got the Onn 5.1.2 from Walmart for $199 and I was really impressed. It has a woofer, 2 wireless rear speakers, and up-firing speakers. The room filling sound is great when you watch a film in Dolby Atmos. Don't knock it because it is a Walmart brand. It is very likely that it is built by a name brand company. I tried 3 other soundbars and this one was the best by far. By the way stay away from Ultimea. The sound isn't great. I've tried 3 ultima systems in the past 8 or so months. A 5.1 a 7.1 and a 7.1.4. all 3 of them had really bad surround speaker volume. The best was the 7.1.4 but that's probably from the extra 2 upfiring channels in the back. The 5.1 and 7.1 both had an amazing subwoofer and bass as well as a great sound bar but before I returned them via Amazon the last 10 days of testing both systems I didn't even bother to turn on the surround speakers they were borderline useless.
Having peeped the Ultimea lineup based on the buzz from here, they're merely mid-level cabecillas, that will likely take the place of Vizio now that Walmart's subjugation and annexation of that brand sent them in a death spiral towards oblivion alongside Onn! I would've been satisfied with the typical "black plastic crap" sound of Ultimea & other nobodies had I not been a reporter on a university student newspaper in the early '70s for my fellow scribes introduced me to 🎖️& platinum 👂ed audio as they enthusiastically waxed rhapsodic about McIntosh, Mark Levinson & Nakamichi hardware, I ended up getting hooked on that class of audio!
Ultimea is the best value soundbar. I got an Apollo S40 on the Facebook Marketplace for $20, and it's more than adequate for a great 2.1 channel set-up. It has 2 tweeters and two woofers per channel and a subwoofer-out port. You can also buy refurbished models from their official Temu store named 'Ultimea Refurbished' to save 40 to 60%. Although for a PC in particular you should probably look for a PC-specific soundbar and surround system from someone like Logitech. There are lots of them on Facebook for less than $55.
Ultimea is not bad, but these cheap ones keep firing bass lol
