"D60 has true surround and it works exactly as expected. Dialogues should be played from front speakers exactly how it is in life, if You are talking with somebody also it is heard from front. Additionally rear speakers should play sounds from background + dialogues only in some situations like someone in movie is talking "from behind""
"The D60 is true 5.1 surround sound. Ive done all the 5.1 tests and its great. ... There are 5 entirely seperate speakers plus the sub woofer. You just need to do a 5.1 sound test on Youtube to see all 5.1 speakers are read. You can even isolate them. ... For regular TV, games and movies the 5.1 sound is great."
"It correctly separates channels on v139 ... v139 has less clear middle tones but separates correctly rear speakers."

"I like how you dont need an AV receiver. You plus in the Arc HDMI into the central bar and thats it. ... Plus the remote and setting are super well calibrated and easy with simple bass and surround settings."

You can try firmware v139. On v143 I think middle tones are bit more clear but it has surround speakers bleed each other (sound comes always from both rear speakers, there is no separation of channels). Probably this will be fixed in new firmware. There were also some complains about much less bass on v143.
The rear speakers bleed is exactly on v143. You can check comments here https://support.ultimea.com/hc/en-us/articles/35847148349849-Poseidon-D60-Customized-Software-V143 It correctly separates channels on v139
I would say it is expected -> PCM is uncompressed stereo 2.0 sound (on 5.1 speakers it creates virtual surround -> You will hear in rear speakers sound from front speakers). DD+ is compressed full surround and I would say recommended to use if possible for videos. Those are two different ways of decoding that's why You will hear a lot of difference with jumping between those two. I would say PCM stereo for music and DD+ 5.1 for videos. v139 has less clear middle tones but separates correctly rear speakers. Edit: This second that You have between switch from PCM to DD+ surround -> could be that it didn't fully switched yet to surround sound. I'm not sure. Probably somebody else can better answer here or Ultimea support.
I saw this comment about this bug. Somehow I'm not hearing it but I'm not paying too much attention probably. Will keep it in mind and give back some result in few days if it's reproducible. For now I didn't spotted any issues on movies from streaming platforms.
After few days of tests, I can't reproduce on streaming services. I don't have time to test movies from hard drive and other thing was, that I think bug was visible on Linux? so maybe it was issue with environment.
False advertisement False advertisement. They advertised the the Poseidon D60 works with their app. IT DOES NOT! I contacted them and they kept saying the some D60s do not. I told them it was advertised to and they finally agreed for me to send it to them to be exchanged. They paid for 10 day, yes 10 day, shipping. Considering I ordered it off Amazon for 2 day shipping 10 day is ridiculous. Well now they have had it now for 7 days after the received it is insane. It is a shame when they make a mistake that they handle it so poorly.
Check on ULTIMEA soundbars. I have the M60 Poseidon and am extremely impressed. The D60 includes rear speakers and is under $200. I think these are incredible values. I’m coming from Samsung Q900 and Vizio SB3621.
Hi there, I'm actively using the D60 and I really like it, so most probably you get a bad deal if you can get it for cheap. I would advise the X40 (400 US$ , so it might be out of budget) as it has a wider front soundbar part, so you will feel that the side speaker sounds are coming from the side, not from the front only as with D60 + the up-firing speakers and bigger subwoofer can give a better experience
Hi guys - I know a lot of people hate Ultimea, but as a non-audiophile person, I was satisfied with their Poseidon D60 5.1 soundbar system in terms of sound quality, virtual Dolby Atmos surround sound. I thought about upgrading this to a 5.1.2 system with up-firing speakers (as I can't put speakers on my ceiling in the flat I rent) and saw this for about 300 usd. Does anyone have experience with this? Do the up-firing speakers gives any extra value to the whole cinema-feeling? In case someone can recommend any better 5.1.2 (I wouldn't need another 5.1 system or 7.1, thank you) soundbar systems for less than 350 usd (this is my very maximum currently for a new audio system) which supports Dolby Atmos and HDMI eArc , I'm very open-minded to any ideas. And I would like to buy only new products because of warranty purposes, so I wouldn't prefer the used speakers from marketplace as I read it in many older Reddit posts. Thank you in advance
The Skywave F40 Boom does not support it - but I'm satisfied with Dolby Atmos on my Poseidon D60
Just to update this post, I bought it in the end and I love it. Dolby Atmos is fine. The Xupmix mode is not for me, but the original is perfect. I tested 4 types of Ultimea 5.1 soundbars and so far, this is the best for the budget in my opinion. Sound is clear, bass can be strong, within the app I can basically modify everything. I was in my local store to test more expensive devices from known brands like LG, but for me those didn't feel any better (I'm not an audiophil, so maybe this is why). So in case someone in the future comes here, I can recommend this model. And please avoid the Ultimea Nova S80 model - The subwoofer had some issues when playing normal youtube videos even when bass was on the lowest option. So that was a no-no for me. Also, if someone wondering, the up-firing speakers didn't give any bog noticable difference, but the soundbar's width compared to the Aura A30 and Poseidon D60 is superior in my opinion. Poseidon D60 is fine too as a secondary speaker for my other TV, but in the future I might replace it to this same model when this gets cheaper.
Thanks for the detailed and in my experience accurate review. I bought it after finding stellar reviews online. If you get it on sale it is very decent value. My biggest disappointment is the bass. It's sooooo soft. Maybe it would be good in a super small room. But yeah if you want strong bass, look elsewhere. Other than that the sound quality is very decent for the price. The surround effects are very nice. Sound could be a little more crisp. Build quality is also excellent for the price. I am wondering what would be a step up from these with strong bass and Atmos support.
Those are solid budget options for a basic upgrade, but if you’re open to another choice that’s usually in the same price range and offers a noticeable step up in real-world use, you might want to consider Ultimea (like the Poseidon D60).
I own a Poseidon D60, and for its price range it performs genuinely well for movies, gaming, and everyday use.
I get where you’re coming from, but I don’t fully agree with that take. I own a Poseidon D60, and for its price range it performs genuinely well for movies, gaming, and everyday use. I also think it’s a bit unfair to dismiss a brand without hands-on experience.Real-world use matters a lot. Not everyone wants or needs to drop flagship-level money to get enjoyable, immersive [sound.At](http://sound.At) the end of the day, “buy once, cry once” works for some people — but for others, good sound at a fair price is exactly the right balance. And Ultimea fits that space pretty well in my book.
I’m a Poseidon D60 user and I’m really happy with how it improves clarity and punch compared to built-in TV sound. It makes voices much clearer and brings films and shows to life without needing a massive setup, so it’s definitely worth a look if you want a noticeable upgrade. Quick answers to your questions: A good soundbar can dramatically improve dialogue clarity and overall movie sound.subwoofer not mandatory, but a subwoofer helps add deeper bass for action scenes,if you want a little extra “oomph.”Dolby Atmos It can add height/immersive effects. If you’re considering options, check out Ultimea’s soundbar lineup!
I understand your perspective; budget constraints are a reality, and you're trying to find the best compromise for your setup. I currently use the Poseidon D60 in a room of about 20 square meters, and overall, it performs quite well for everyday TV viewing, movies, and casual gaming. Dialogue is clear, and the sound feels much broader compared to typical TV speakers. That being said, in larger open spaces or situations requiring strong directional sound effects, smaller soundbars (including the M60) might fall short.
About the nothing under €400 sounds better than TV comment, that’s not universally true. Some cheaper bars are barely better.Perhaps you could consider the Ultimea Poseidon D60; it performs quite well in a 20-square-meter room.
I’m on the Poseidon D60, and the surround is definitely real. When I watch movies or play games, I clearly hear different sounds coming from the front vs. the rears, not just the same audio duplicated everywhere.
If you can stretch your budget just a bit, the Ultimea Poseidon D60 is a real upgrade with true surround sound, wireless rears, and MUCH better clarity and bass.
If you’re after a 3.1 soundbar around \~$200 or less, there are some solid value options worth checking out, but one that I personally use and can confidently recommend is the Poseidon D60,and in a \~20 m² room it performs really well clear dialogue, and a nice overall presence for movies, TV, and music.
Modern TV speakers are tragically bad, especially when they fire backward.I’m a Poseidon D60 user, and honestly for the price it punches way above its weight. It’s not “audiophile,” but compared to built-in TV speakers it’s a night and day difference. For a birthday gift on a budget, the Ultimea Poseidon D60 is honestly one of the safest picks.
I don’t have the Aura A60 specifically, but I’m using the Poseidon D60 in a room of about 20㎡, and overall it’s been a really good experience for movies. Hopefully some Aura A60 owners can jump in with direct feedback, but based on my D60 experience, Ultimea seems to focus more on watchability and clarity, not just loudness.I also find the EQ and modes useful for tweaking speech clarity, which could be helpful if tinnitus is a factor.
Totally agree!Hearing it in a real room always matters more than spec sheets and CES hype.I’m on the Ultimea D60 right now and honestly, for the price, it’s been a really solid experience in my room. Not perfect, but way better than I expected.
I’ve used the Poseidon D60, and for the price it punches way above its weight. You’re not going to get the same precision as a full AVR with separate speakers, but the immersion is honestly real.I’m really curious about the X100 Dual too… if they nailed the bass management on it, that thing could be insane.
I’m actually a Poseidon D60 user, and honestly I’ve been really happy with it. For my 215 ft² room it delivers surprisingly good immersion, the sound feels wide and dynamic, and even movies with Atmos/DTS tracks come through nicely considering the size and price.Your mileage might vary with room size & furniture layout, but for budget immersion, the Poseidon family has been great for me.
For your first soundbar on a $100–$150 budget, I’ve got a solid suggestion.Poseidon D60,It’s not super expensive, doesn’t require complicated calibration.I’m a Poseidon D60 user, and honestly it’s been great for everyday movie.
I’m using a Poseidon D60 in about a 20m²room and honestly it does sound pretty good for general TV/movies.In a much larger open space like your family room with high ceilings and connected areas, it’s even less likely to fill the room the way you want.Consider systems designed for larger rooms with dual sub support.Dual subs (or larger subs) help even out bass in a big, tall room, one sub tends to leave dead spots. You’ll probably need something above entry level (often with bigger subs and surrounds) to get really satisfying results.
I’m using the Ultimea Poseidon D60 in my 20 m² living room and overall it sounds surprisingly good for everyday use better clarity and presence than most TV speakers and Bluetooth budget units. For your budget, you don’t need to go crazy to get a decent, clean sound — a mid‑tier soundbar with a good app/EQ and a separate subwoofer (even smaller) will already feel much better than basic TV audio or simple BT speakers.
If you’re new to soundbars and want good performance without the crazy price, one solid pick to consider is the Ultimea Poseidon D60.I’m a Poseidon D60 user, and in my \~20 m² living room it’s been working really well for everyday TV, movies, and sports. It’s not a flagship like the Q990, but for a medium room and casual viewing, it delivers way more than basic TV speakers and feels very immersive for the price.
I’m a Poseidon D60 user, and in that price/performance bracket it holds up really well for everyday TV, movies, YouTube, and gaming. It’s a solid step up from built-in speakers and gives much more immersive sound without breaking the bank.
I'm also using the Ultimea Poseidon D60 myself, and it performs exceptionally well in my approximately 20-square-meter living room. Even without connecting the rear satellite speakers, it fills the entire space well, providing clear dialogue and powerful bass. The problems I encountered previously were usually resolved by updating the firmware or re-pairing the devices. Overall, the D60 is very suitable for small rooms and operates stably once set up.
I'm using the Poseidon D60, and it performs exceptionally well in a room of about 215 square feet. The vocals are clear, the soundstage is wider, and the overall sound quality is much better than most cheap TV speakers. Perhaps you could consider Ultimea; their soundbars offer great value for money.
Congrats on the first home! I’m actually a Poseidon D60 user, and for a first setup, I honestly think it’s a perfect starting point.Super clear dialogue ,Has real surround feel without being complicated To your questions, quick takes: 2.1 enoughIt works, but you’ll probably outgrow it fast. Once you hear even basic surround, it’s hard to go back. Are 5.1.4 / 7.1.4 for a first place? Yeah, usually. They’re awesome, but more space, more setup, more money. If you’re moving in soon, I wouldn’t wait. There’s always something new around the corner
Honestly, if your budget can stretch just a little further, the D60 is worth it. It support Dolby Atmos true 5.1 ch. D50 is okay for casual TV, but D60 feels more better
I had both the D50 and D60 for a week during return window — ended up keeping the D60. Bass is cleaner, and I swear the dialogue is clearer even without a dedicated center channel boost. Atmos decoding does add something, especially if your content supports it.
I’m also surprised how few people are talking about Ultimea. I have the D60, not the D80, but for under $160 I honestly didn’t expect this level of performance. Setup was a breeze and the sound quality blew me away for the price.
