I got this system a few weeks ago as it was highly discounted. Very happy with it- the Yamaha music quality is excellent, as expected. Having AirPlay is nice. The satellites are powered by usb-c and have been turning on fine so far. Re-watched Bladerunner 2049 to get a sense of the bigger and clearer sound from these-- very happy.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->Interesting read thanks. I've just bought this soundbar so will post my thoughts once it's set up and I've played with it a bit.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->This is my first soundbar and it's very early days but I'm impressed so far. We've had a new Samsung 4k TV for a few weeks and although the picture is superb the sound was poor in comparison. So this is where the X50a comes in. I wanted a simple solution to give greater oomph and a bit more dialogue clarity to things and it seems provide exactly that. Set up was very easy and I'm looking forward to testing it out further with some 4k disks at the weekend to see what it can really do.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->No love for the Yamaha True X 50A? Couple them with the 1A wireless surround speakers and it’s a great ATMOS system. Completely wireless (other than power). Heck, even the back surround speakers can be run on batter and then switched to solo Bluetooth mode if you want to use them as a BT speaker elsewhere. The setup process was easy and the sound great (but I’m no audiophile). The woofer wasn’t overpowering or weak. Juuuust right.
r/Soundbars • The most recommended soundbars on Reddit (r/soundbar VS others) as of Jan 2025 ->I got mine a couple of weeks ago from Tepperman’s in Southern Ontario (Windsor) for $600 including the two satellite speakers. I was a great deal!
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->Thanks for the feedback. I bought another highly recommended soundbar, the Yamaha true x bar 50a. I am very underwhelmed by it. Obviously the reviewers take some 'feedback' from the manufacturers to positively review the products. It's really hard to know who to believe. What Hi-Fi were honest about the LG soundbar, seems like they are truly independent reviewers.
r/Soundbars • Thoughts on Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 3 ->Yamaha True x Bar 50a- great value for the money. $499.
r/LGOLED • Need a simple soundbar recommendation for my new C4 OLED ->I bought a Yamaha True X Bar 50A and am really impressed by it. You might want to check it out.
r/Soundbars • LG S80QR for $446.99...is there a better current soundbar system in that price range? ->I've just posted my experience with the Yamaha. Great product. r/Soundbars • Yamaha vs JBL for true wireless rear speakers ->I noticed there aren’t many reviews of the Yamaha True X 50A out there, so I thought I'd share my experience. I think it's a great product in a market dominated by Samsung and a few other brands with similar offerings. This Yamaha is somehow different, maybe not the best of the best, but I believe most people would love it if they gave it a try. I don't do reviews, so this review might be not complete or inaccurate for some of you, but feel free to ask in the comments and I'll answer. # Pros: * **Great sound:** The sound quality is really good. The soundbar delivers high-quality audio, and while the subwoofer isn’t super powerful, you can easily increase the power via the app or remote and enhance the bass to your liking. I've never pushed it to the max volume, or my neighbours will kill me. Also, it has 2 bluetooth satellites, and they are also quite powerful and high-quality sound, together or alone, even if they are small. * **Minimal and elegant design:** It’s not bulky like other brands. It's covered in cloth and it looks so much elegant to me, I love it. The subwoofer has a classic design, I love the Yamaha logo on the side. The satellites are small and fit anywhere, making them very adaptable for any room. * **Detachable satellite speakers and flexibility:** This is one of the best features! You can place them wherever you want, and since they support Bluetooth, you can even use each one (separately) as a portable speaker. Amazing. I usually keep them on shelves in surround mode, and when I watch a movie, I bring them closer to the couch—one on the left and one on the right. Once the movie is over, back to the shelves they go. Sometimes when I move around the house (within Wi-Fi range), I just play music with the whole setup, but I take one speaker to the bedroom and turn up its volume. It’s way more straightforward than connecting via Bluetooth. In Bluetooth mode, I can carry one around the house or even outside, which is super handy. Also, when they turn on/off they make a very nice sound. * **The remote:** It’s very convenient, has all the controls you need, and makes it super easy to adjust settings without messing around too much. Its design is not the best, but doesn't matter. # Cons: * **No upward-firing speakers on the satellites:** Honestly, I don’t care that much. How often do we really need to hear planes flying over our heads in movies? Not a deal-breaker for me. * **Satellite power-on issue:** When they’re not connected to a power source, they don’t turn on automatically. A bit of a pity, but I guess it’s for battery saving. I bought some cheap but much longer USB-C cables to power them in the shelve where they sit, so they turn on automatically. * **Lack of quick setting "scenes":** It would be great if Yamaha added a feature to save custom sound settings in the app. For example, when I watch a movie, I always set it to “movie mode” with volume +2 on the left satellite. But when I switch to music, I play with all speakers and want to lower the satellites' volume while boosting the subwoofer to +2. It’d be awesome to do this with one click instead of manually adjusting everything each time. Hopefully, Yamaha reads this review (given how few there are, it shouldn’t be too hard to find, LOL). There are other things that can be said about this product, and features that I didn't mention, such as "Clear Voice" and others, but I don't use them, so I can't tell you much about them. Overall, I think this Yamaha is a solid choice for those looking for something different from the usual brands and bulky design. Of course, it's not perfect, but for me the pros far outweigh the cons. And its design is just great in my living room, while not intrusive at all. I hope this personal review is useful for those looking for a different product. r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->Indeed! 100% satisfied so far. Btw the True X supports Dolby Atmos, but it is limited by the lack of upward-firing speakers in the satellites.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->I can’t compare them because I’ve never tried the Samsung. From the specs, Samsung beats this Yamaha everywhere. But I didn’t and I still don’t care, as I’m very happy with this one. Imo this Yamaha has much better design, and the Samsung would have been a overkill for my house. I never go above 50% of volume
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->I have the Yamaha True X 50A with surrounds and it works great, I will be mounting them but right now just using them on battery. They haven’t lost the pairing since I set them, and when you turn off the soundbar it turns off with them. If you decide to plug in they will turn on/off with the soundbar. I’m coming for a Yamaha YAS207 and this thing is such a big step up and I am enjoying very much.
r/Soundbars • Yamaha vs JBL for true wireless rear speakers ->I have the same soundbar and the surround speakers, and I think it is a fantastic setup. I am coming from the 2.1 Yamaha YAS207, and to me it is a huge upgrade. This is my first surround sound setup but I am really enjoying it and the sounds from surround to the subwoofers are high quality.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->I came from the yas-101 reluctantly. That little bar has been great in a small room for a long time. However, the 50a is a great upgrade. The ease of use is a huge plus for wife.
r/Soundbars • Why I chose the Yamaha True X 50A over the big brands ->Your spot on with everything you said, tho I've never had a satellite connection issue. The only reason I think to not get it would be if Atmos is a must for, otherwise if it falls within your budget, I highly recommend. I'd happily buy this again, zero regrets. Yamaha never ceases to amaze me.
