Hi! As a Desky enthusiast, I'm sure I can help with any concerns you may have before you make a decision on purchasing a new office set-up. We know first-hand how hard it is to choose the right desk for your needs. Our desks come backed under a limited warranty so rest assured if on arrival something is not quite right with your order, or perhaps down the track if you experience an issue with your Desky, our growing team of experts are here to assist in getting your desk up and running as soon as possible for you. Feel free to send me a message if you need any advice on choosing a Desky Desk, or feel free to drop any questions that you may have down below :) Thanks for your interest in Desky and our office products!
\- Desky Here, Both Desks are stable and have minimal wobble, Both Desks are Good quality with reasonable warranty periods. Either Desk would be good for your needs. Where Desky has an edge i believe, is two fold. The Variety of Desktops that we offer and the quality of them. We have a huge range to choose from, but if you aren't particular and just want a plain white melamine desktop, we can do that. Our Melamine range is strong and hard wearing, and solid core, so not flimsy like you may find with other suppliers The other advantage i believe we have is our cable management system. Its clean, and does its job amazingly well at hiding cables out of the way and being accessible when you need it. If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me, we can also get you a discount code for your first purchase of a sit stand desk \- Team Desky
Desky here, Although the Desky Single Sit Stand Desk fits most of your requirements, i do wonder if it will be suitable for you at your sitting height. The Single has a minimum sitting height of 28.7" which may be too tall, ensure you take measurements of your comfortable sitting height before purchasing. Let me know if you have any questions, more than happy to help \- Team Desky
Desky Here, Just to expand on other answers, its the quality of the frame and assembly that ensures it doesnt wobble, im extremely please with our Single Sit Stand Desk. Just a couple of things to be in mind is single sit stand desks have a smaller height range (28.7"-48.4" Vs 23.6" - 49.2" for a Dual) So just ensure your comfortable Desk height is appropriate before purchase. If you have any questions, please reach out. \-Team Desky
With that budget, I can recommend the Desky Single Sit Stand Desk for $600 AUD and if you can add $50 more, either the Desky Dual Ergo or the Desky Dual Mini Sit Stand desks. For the single motor ones, the memory buttons can get used daily and you can just tap one for sitting, standing, or walking pad height instead of holding the button down. It does get a bit wobbly at max height if you're really pushing on it, but that's pretty typical for this price range. Motor's quiet and the cable tray underneath keeps things clean. If you can wait for tax time and want something like an Omni or UpDown, those are bulletproof. But the Retail Display Direct one you mentioned sounds fine too since they supply offices. Either way, getting off that desktop riser is going to be a massive upgrade with two screens.
Most of the Desky feedback, including the Single, is that once it’s assembled, stability isn’t really the issue people complain about. Haven’t heard about any wobble issues either. The only difference is that the Single has a lower lift capacity, so it’s meant for normal setups, not heavy gear or a bunch of arms. The Desky Single is also one of their more affordable or entry level standing desks.
Try the Desky Single Sit Stand Desk. It's around $460. It's steady even at full height, the motor’s quiet, and it has good cable management etc. My second recommendation is Flexispot E7. I have a friend who has this and it's really good. I'd still grab an anti-fatigue mat and keep your chair close. Standing all day at first gets tiring at some point so you need to switch between the two.
Single motor desks can be just as stable as dual motor ones. Wobble comes down to frame quality and assembly, not how many motors you've got. The differences are height range, weight capacity, and warranty period. Just don't get some random cheap brand and you'll be fine. I've actually tried it myself. Takes about 18 seconds to go from sitting to standing, which isn't bad at all. Desky's single motor handles 176 lbs and the frame design keeps everything stable. As long as your setup isn't super heavy, it'll do the job.
How tall are you, and how much time do you see yourself standing each day? Standing desks aren’t just about standing or sitting. You’re able to set the desk at the right height so you’re not hunched over a screen all day. That helps a lot with posture and keeping aches away long term. Now I don’t know about your budget but the Desky Single Sit Stand fits what you’re looking for. The height range works for most people, it’s stable when you type, and the switch between sitting and standing is fast. You’ll probably still sit most of the time, but breaking up the day with some standing or even just tweaking the desk height while sitting keeps you from feeling slouched or stiff.
Look into 4 legged frames. 2 leg desks use telescoping tubes that slide within each other and there's always going to be some gap, and the higher you go, the less overlap you have. 4 leg designs distribute weight better. Dual motors help with consistent lifting. But with that budget since you mentioned you would go around $400, I can recommend the Desky Single. It's around $460. The preset buttons make switching heights pretty smooth.
For that budget, the Desky Single runs $459 and comes as a complete desk at 47.2 x 29.5 inches. A bit smaller than your 140x70 cm target but you mentioned that smaller works. The frame handles 176lbs and the height range is 28.7" to 48.4" with memory presets. It does have cable management built in as well. Also, if you think you'll want more depth later for a bigger monitor setup, you could look at frame only options and source your own desktop. Gives you more control on size. What's your monitor situation looking like?
I have a Desky 1500x750 which is plenty for me even with a 42" monitor and cat beds on the desk. While there's nothing wrong with it (it's a beautiful resin river one with tiny imperfections where the post must have dropped it on a corner) I'd buy elsewhere if you can unless you must have a particular style. They have really poor customer service, no edits to orders after placing, and very short return windows. The control panel for the desk was also outdated compared to competitors at the time I got it. And I also bought a camera mounting plate which wasn't great and didn't fit my mount. The product itself is okay though. It raises and lowers and the cable tray is critically important. However it's not as silent as they make out. It's great that it supports a lot of weight but it's also not as stable as they make out, your cameras will shake. I just feel like most companies stand behind their products more while Desky is too big or popular to care. I use an Ergotron HX for the mount. Now that is well worth dumping money into.
I got a Desky and it's awesome
It's not silent but it's not loud. A nice whirr
Desky and Autonomous are much higher quality than Uplift. I am personally using a desky and it's really nice, solid. Big fan of the cable management system. Zero wobble at any height for me. it was a bit of a pain to put together
I used a brand called zen space desk, it’s not the best but it was cheap! Omnidesk has good quality so does desky
